Memphis Wrestling 10 Years Ago

USWA: It was pretty much a done deal that from September, the Saturday morning tv show would be moved to a Saturday night midnight timeslot. The current tv ratings for the morning show had been the lowest in the history of the show, even though the show was still doing a 5.7 rating and winning its’ timeslot…… In an update on a story in last week’s issue, Dave Meltzer wrote, “It now appears that Glen Jacobs will end up playing Kane in the WWF. During the past week, WWF called Jacobs, who held the USWA title, back presumably for this new role. USWA officials weren’t aware this was going to happen and Jacobs left the territory still as the champion.”

There was talk that they would put another wrestler under the Doomsday mask (Johnny Rotten was the leading contender) and pretend it was still Jacobs…… Billy Travis was fired for a bunch of no-shows…… JC Ice was out of action with an ankle injury, and on the Saturday morning show, introduced his temporary replacement and Wolfie D’s new PG-13 tag team partner, PG-187, who was P.J. Walker (later Justin Credible)…….. Paul Diamond was teasing a heel turn….. Lance Russell said that Tommy Dreamer had sent in a video talking about Jerry Lawler, but that they weren’t going to play it because of Dreamer’s bad language…… Rod Price debuted, and was set to feud with the Fake Razor Ramon.
