Arena Report: LAW Rector, AR 1.27.07

----“The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony beat “Rockin” Randy with the “Goldi-lock” submission. Good opening bout. Randy has got to be the most improved worker in the last year. He does not have the body or “look” of a wrestler, but he is turning into a good worker. [**]

----Seth Knight/Stan Lee beat Tim Alfonzo/Matt Boyce. Typical tag team match. Good psychology. Boyce [rookie of the year candidate] has lots of potential. He is just very thin and needs to add pounds. [**]

----Psycho beat Erik Hayes vs “Luscious” Jesse Lee. This was a trash wrestling gore feast match at its worst. Trashcans, kendo sticks, a playstation and much more stuff. The crowd popped good for Psycho’s entrance and the finish, [“dreamcatcher” onto a trashcan] but it was a bit too long and everyone was bleeding. I love blood, but this was excessive. Even though they did do an angle with Hayes saying Alex Krisis sent him, it was just not believable when Psycho/Hayes have no history. Lee was part of the finish from the last show [as he was one of the beat up refs], so he jumped in the middle of the match. Lee also made a huge mistake by taking Hayes throwing him into the crowd as both of them were juicing people. [*]

----LAW Tag Team Title Match: “The Posse” [Lil Chris/Simon] beat “Blackout Squad” [Oz/Bishop]. The best match of the show. BOS are turning into good workers. They are learning less is more. Great facial expressions and interaction with the crowd. Chris also does not stand out as a rookie. Heat was on Chris with hot tag to Simon, and then Simon tags back to Chris for double heat. Good psychology. 2cnd hot tag to Simon ends up with “Posse” doing their double team finisher [Simon picks up Chris as both go down for a Bubba bomb with Chris doing a legdrop]. Chris actually kicked Bishop down and then got the pin on Oz. [**3/4]

----LAW Title Match: Brian Christopher pins Dustin Starr to win the LAW Title. Christopher is not in the shape he was during the WWE days, but who is after they leave??...This match also proves the less is more psychology that I mentioned above. This is the kind of match that 15 years ago I would have probably shit on. But, maturity of knowing that if the moves look good and the crowd is hot - you are doing nothing wrong. Brian got more heat with throwing a bandana out to the crowd than most of rest of the crew combined. They also did a spot where Brian brought a kid into the ring and stomped Starr’s’ sunglasses - crowd loved it and it was over. Starr started getting heat on Brian after Starr ducked a move and Brian went flying over the top rope doing a face first flip on to the concrete and it looked nasty!! They fought outside the ring and then back in. Ref bump had Starr ready to hit Brian with a chair, but Kelly Warner grabs the chair. Starr just kicks Warner and takes the chair away. [nice touch] Starr hits Brian with the chair and goes to get the ref. When he turns around Brian hits Starr with a nut shot and pins him. Chairshot was for shoot as Brian got hardway bad. Starr hit him with the inner part of the chair where it folds. As soon as Starr hit him, I seen blood splatter on Starr’s chest and I knew he had fucked up. Brian was bleeding bad and I had thought he might have ko’ed him at first. Brian challenged Starr for a “Loser Leave Town” match for next month’s show. [**1/2]

RassleNotes: Looked like close to 80 paid with around 100 in the building. I would say a gate of around $720. Don’t know what kind of promotion they did, but it just is sad they can’t draw more with Brian Christopher…Another note on Boyce: He comes in the dressing room dressed well and carries himself very well. He was trained by Alan Steele and Dustin Starr…Lee/Knight/Anthony/Randy “stand out” like a sore thumb when it comes to be actually workers….Tim Alfonzo needs LOTS of work!!!... Krisis/Psycho had a similar hardcore match last month, but they know how to work this kind of match where you build for a big spot and such…The blood in the hardcore match almost made my middle child puke…Posse had a huge pop!! By the reaction of the whole card, they came to see Posse/Psycho/Christopher. I noticed that during some of the first matches that kids were talking among themselves and not even watching the matches…I have heard horror stories about the way Christopher acts backstage. Some of them are legendary. Starr and he arrived late and when he was getting ready for his match, he didn’t say much to the other boys in the dressing room. After the match, he was just one of the boys joking around about “Five” Starr giving Starr hell for the chairshot. He could have been a raving lunatic yelling and screaming after that chairshot and it might have been ok. LOL But, he was a first class act…Thanks to the LAW crew for their hospitality. Good time was had by all.

Blalok & The Fireball!!!

----You know I am usually not one to put anybody over, but when I report something incorrect then I like to correct it. So, my sincerest apologies to people when I screw up the fact. Case in point – I reported that Blalok the Blazer had been goofing off and threw a fireball backstage. Blalok [listed as Dion Bowman in his e-mail] said that he was not goofing off. He said that Krisis had hit him low, so he threw a fireball at him. Krisis had thought it was Criminyle [I had reported he thought it was Crime] and he went after Criminyle. Blalok says he “got him [Krisis] off” of Criminyle and then Krisis/him went toe to toe. WTF?? I think that was almost the same story I told except for Criminyle. The main deal is this – you threw a fireball. Stop doing stupid shit in the dressing rooms and I will quit reporting it.

www.rasslinriotonline.com reaches 200,000 hits!!!

----Thanks to everyone for helping me reach the 200,000 mark this quickly. It has been just over 8 months since the start of the website. The amazing part is that we reached 150,000 hits on January 1, 2007 and now here on the 24th I have over 200,000!! So, I have had 50,000 hits in less than a month. I contribute this to the Yearbook, which got lots of hits. I have also joined a few more sites with my weekly Memphis Wrestling TV reports. The SEW show that features Sid Vicious has also made people all over the world start talking, so I thank that group for helping.

----I took a sample at three different times in the last few days and even though my site was geared for the Memphis area, I have been getting hits from everywhere - Georgia, Iowa, Texas, Utah, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Montana, Alabama, Aruba, Western Australia, California, Illinois, England, Netherlands, Korea, Alaska, Ohio and many more. They don’t call it the World Wide Web for nothing..LOL Thanks to all of you out of town visitors!!!

----I would also like to thank everyone for hitting the ads. It does help me make a little money to pay for the site and the time I spend working on it. I have other plans for the site as a portal for Ebay, Amazon and other stuff you can buy thru my site that will help the cause.

----For all the people out there HIT THE ADS that have been complaining about me asking for ad money, then HIT THE ADS I apologize. I do not think that I have gone over board HIT THE ADS or anything. It is just a few reminders HIT THE ADS every other day. It is not that I am going to get rich HIT THE ADS on this site, but as I have said, when you HIT THE ADS spend at least a 100+ hours a HIT THE ADS month working on it, it would help to know HIT THE ADS you are appreciated and you don’t have to buy HIT THE ADS anything, you can just look. RassletBits: Yearbook, Sir Mo, more Awards Aftermath, DVD releases, Starr NBW meeting, RassleTube and Spell/Lawler

----I made a few mistakes on the yearbook and I have tried to correct them. The gates changed a big with a Henderson, TN show actually drew $4,400 gate. I also added few more notes in the yearly run down.

----NBW booker Sir Mo is featured on wwe.com in the Royal Rumble feature. It states “The Superstar with the shortest time in the Rumble Match is The Warlord with two seconds in 1989. In 1995, the next shortest times belonged to Mo and Owen Hart who each lasted three seconds.

----In my article, “Awards Aftermath”, there are three more guys that I left out that I would consider in top singles listing. Check it out by clicking on the article.

----My January DVD releases are both been put on hold and will hopefully be put on next month. “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony “As Good As Gold” is being delayed as I am waiting on an Anthony vs Bagwell bout. The TLCW “The First Big Show of The Year 2007” will be released as soon as the video of the show can be found. If anyone that reads this on a regular basis videoed the show, drop me a line.

----Apparently there was a NBW dressing room meeting about the pay rate of Dustin Starr [pictured with his "Horizon" Trophy]. Sir Mo pretty much told everyone to not worry about what Starr was making. Starr received his regular pay and then Mo gave him some extra on his debut night. It was reported that Starr walked in during the middle of the discussion. He sat down and then asked to say something and said, “Yeah I make twice as much as you guys do, AND I ate two hot dogs for free!!!" LOL Now if he said that --- that is funny!!

----I have added lots of videos in the last few days to RassleTube. I have Memphis Wrestling stuff all way up to the tag team title change this past Saturday. I plan to try to have it up soon. Speaking of youtube.com, this dude has tons of old Memphis stuff posted on his channel also. There is an interview where Tommy Rich turns in Memphis that is so classic!!

----It was reported on the Trent Van Drisse’s message board that Spellbinder and Jerry Lawler “kiss and made up” at the Jackson, TN show at the Palace. Lawler seem to be cool with everything, but he probably had to hear Spell saying, “I was just putting you over man.” Have you not read the Spellbinder shoot?? CLICK HERE to read it.

HIT THE SPONSORS!!! IT IS THE ONLY WAY I MAKE MONEY!!!!

The Ratings Are In!! Lawler Breaks his Streak!!!

----Jerry Lawler has officially ended his streak of losing viewers during live matches, but the show is not doing the numbers it did last year. The December, 2006 average, even with the holidays, was 3.4 [56,596 viewers]. The first three shows of the New Year have drawn about 13,000 less viewers. Saturday’s show did a 2.8 [45,777 viewers].

----The show opened with a 2.1 [35,622 viewers] with the Bam Bam tribute and Dundee vs King. The next quarter jumped 13,982 viewers scoring a 3.0 [49,605 viewers] for the Jimmy Hart announcement and the start of Lawler vs Jethro/Nate. The third quarter scored the same with 3.0 [49,605 viewers] for finish of Lawler vs Jethro/Nate, the 8-man tag and Tim Grind interview talking about Flex being in jail. The last quarter only dropped 666 viewers scoring a 2.9 [48,939 viewers] for the Starr/White vs Grind/Flash title change and the White turning heel angle. The show finished with 13,317 more viewers than it started with.

----Even though the show is not doing the ratings of last month, there are still positives. The main one is that hardly anyone turned off the show with the only loss being less than 700 viewers. So, that is saying that the people that were watching the show were actually enjoying it. Lawler has to be happy about not losing viewers and breaking his 7th show streak. A negative would be they promoted with a few commercials during “Smackdown” of a big announcement from Jimmy Hart and it looks like it did not affect the ratings.

RassleResults: MEW Batesville, AR 1.13.07 - New Champ!!!

----Rozzi beat Velvet Thunder; Plowboy Hays beat Scotty Graham with Matt Boyce; “Danger Zone” [Johnny Harper/”Hot Rod” John Ellison beat “The Playboy Club” Tommy Wayne/Ray Ray; MEW Title Match: Casino Kid won the title beating “Dangerous” Dave Cox and in the Main Event: “Righteous Punishment” [Jack “Lockdown” Johnson/Byg Daddy Moose] beat Scotty Graham/Matt Boyce.

----271 in the crowd. As I have noted in the past, this group lets everyone in for free and now have 9 sponsors that foot the bill. Their biggest sponsor is “Po’Boys Furniture”…They ran an angle at the front of the show where Plowboy Hayes was getting beat up and “Righteous Punishment” made the save to set up the main event.

Bam Bam Bigelow Photos Posted!!

----The Bam Bam Bigelow photos have been posted. These photos were taken by me sometime in either 1985 or 86 in a bout vs Jerry Lawler in Blytheville, AR. They are not perfect as they have a tint to them, but I think I was using a small 110 camera when I first started shooting wrestling. The one pic shows him doing the Flair bump, so you can see how agile a guy his size was. CLICK HERE TO SEE THEM!!

RassleResults: XOW New Albany, MS 1.20.07 - Izzy Rotten wins XOW Title!!!

----Buzz Harley beats Jay Webster; Cassanova Kidd/Nick Grymes beat Pappy/Colt Anderson; DC/Thomas Knox beat “24/7” [Kross/JR Mauler]; TV Title Match: Psycho vs Soultaker – No contest; Izzy Rotten beat Danny B Goode to win the XOW Championship and in the Main Event: “Coal Miner’s Glove Match” - “Pure Destruction” [Cody & Brody Hawk] beat Justin Rhodes/Bonecrusher.

----85 paid with a gate close to $425…This feud is working for the group. I love the idea of Izzy winning the belt. Too many of these promotion vs promotion feuds don’t get it. By putting the belt on Izzy, the babyface XOW guy can be working toward winning it back…Some blood in the main event. I am a mark for “Coal Miner’s Glove” matches.

Our Condolences........

----Our Condolences to Sir Mo and his family. Sir Mo lost his mother-in-law this past Thursday. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and her family.

HIT THE SPONSORS!!

RassleResults: TLCW Ripley, TN 1.20.07 - Flash Turns Baby!!!

----“The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony beat Shannon Lee with the “Gold-lock”; Seth Knight beat Brian Steele; Tatt2 beat Rockin Randy with the Canadian Destroyer; Tag Team Elimination Match: “The Posse” [Simon/Lil Chris] vs “Black Out Squad” [Oz/Bishop] [pictured] vs “Cruzin 4 Pain” [Motley Cruz/187] vs “201 Boys” [Crime/Chris Lexx] – No contest; Derrick King by DQ over Jethro and in the Main Event: TLCW Title Match: Stan Lee retains the belt beating Flash Flanagan.

----160 paid in the building with a gate close to $1,000…The tag elimination match was set up because “Picture Perfect” [Jon Michael/Christian Jacobs] said that the belts were staying around their waists and they would fight the second best tag team - the team that won the elimination match. Finish of that match had BOS and C4P beating up “Posse” after the “Posse” had eliminated C4P – PP ran out to make the save…Jethro powerbombed DK twice on the ground, once on a table and then thru a table…After the main event, all the heels turn on Flash beating him up. Tim Grind runs in to make the save, but then turns on Flash hitting him with a chair. Grind, BOS, Rashard and Jawbreaker Jones all beat up Flash until the faces make the save. Flash juiced…I love the angle with Flash turning, but have to bitch about them already turning Grind back heel. Also, Flash/Grind won the MW tag team titles about the time this bout was taking place. I know no one watches Memphis Wrestling in Ripley, TN unless they TIVO it, but why turn Grind back so fast??

RassleResults: NBW Dyersburg, TN 1.20.07 - First Tag Team Champions Crowned!!!

----“Kountry Homeboyz” [G.Thompson/J. Weezy] beat Fire & Flame in the semi finals of the tag-team tournament to advance and face “Team X” [Gryffon/Phoenix] in the finals; The Sicilian Kid beat “Playboy” Thomas Love; “Upset Kid” Jeremy Moore beat AC Havoc; Slim “the Bulldog” Pickens beat Gaylon Ray; “Homboyz” beat “Team X” to win the NBW Tag Team Titles; Dustin “Five” Starr beat “All That” Allan Steele by DQ and the Main Event: Indian Strap Match – Tim Edwards beat Tank.

----80 paid and about 100 in the building with a $400 gate…”American Superstar” Weasel debuted interfering so Slim could pin Gaylon. They also are doing a heel ref gimmick with Ref Barry, who just feel down before Weasel came out and then counted fast on Slim…Tommy Boy was a little stiff on Kid…Dustin Starr had a trophy for his “Horizon” award carrying it around ala Owen Hart & the Slammy…In Moore vs Havoc bout Bigg Money Gripp got in the ring and held Moore and Havoc got a chair. He went to hit Moore but he ducked with Havoc almost nailing BMG but stopped. Moore sat down instead of falling and caught both of them in the balls. BMG rolled out of the ring and Moore hit Havoc with the Ace Crusher and got the pin…Tavian Hart screwed up twice during the night. He was supposed to be distracted by Fire & Flame and “Team X” was suppose to win the tag straps, but he turned around and counted the wrong man out. He also took the Starr’s trophy backstage when it was supposed to be used in the finish of Steele vs Starr. And why does everyone think Hart is such a good ref???...After the main event. Fire & Flame came out and beat up on the Homeboyz even throwing a huge fireball at Weezy burning him, as "Team X" stole the title belts.

RassleResults: Arkansas Championship Wrestling Paragould, AR 1.20.07

----“Hambone Express” with Sexy Sam Dollar beat Masked Menace; San Francisco Treat beat Shakedown[pictured]; Hamhock with Dollar vs Bryan Knight went to a TL draw; ACW Title Match: Loose Cannon retained the title by over Adrian Stratton when SF Treat interfered and Main Event had Buster Johnson/Cody Daniels/Bryan Knight beat DeadlyDale/Idol Bane/James Arnez with Bate Masterson.

----Crowd was around 100 with a gate close to $700…Main event had Midnight Cowboy handcuffed to Bate Masterson…Big Indian was there, but couldn’t work due to illness…Blakster was there, but had to leave for an emergency…”Family of Pain” [Sarge/Mickey Ray] are slated to come in on the 2.03.07 show. ..SF Treat is a babyface here and everyone says he is over.

RassleResults: JWS Jumpertown, MS 1.20.07

----Tysin Star / Danny Morris beat Chris Fontaine/ B J Fuller ;Kelo Green / Chazz beat Kaleb Kastle[pictured] / Slammer;Slammer beat Blade w/ Maria Black to win People’s Champion Title;Damion Rage/Kage beat “Pretty Popular” [Jay Popular/Blake Roswell]; JWS Title Match: JJ Fuller beat Chris Stevens and in the Main Event: Ax/Blade/Hitman beat Devon Raynes/Cyrus/Tysin Starr.

----Crowd was 54 paid with a gate close to $270…The ref Jeremy pinned Tysin Starr for Ax/Blade/Hitman win.

RassleResults: TIWF Jackson, TN 1.20.07

----Jennifer Justice beat The Hooligan; Overkill beat Razor & Psycho in a Triple Threat Match to become the new TIWF TV Champion; Lawman Williams vs Dazzlin Dixie ended in a time limit draw; Kaut!on [pictured]beat Void and in the Main Event: “Genocide” [Albino Rhino/Maxx Corbin] beat Wildside/Steven Rampage.

----82 paid with a gate close to $400…They did a 10 bell salute to Bam Bam Bigelow…Ravishing Randy is doing a heel commish role…Good to see Jennifer Justice back in the ring…Steven Rampage brought out an urine specimen bottle. Randy claimed that wrestlers like Corbin/Rhino were on steroids and it was not fair to the other guys. That is funny. In the main event Rampage got the urine thrown in his face and crowd popped big…Void/Kaut!on was real good match and crowd hated Void…Next week this group does a $1 attendance as fan’s appreciation night.

Memphis Wrestling TV Report 1.20.07

----Corey Maclin starts the show saying they had some news about a wrestler passing away. He went over the show and then Reggie B Fine walks out. Fine was wearing a big fur coat and hat. Maclin pulls a bra out of his coat and Fine says, “That belonged to your girlfriend.”

----Maclin tells the fans about the death of Bam Bam Bigelow. They show a few photos. Maclin then brings out Bill Dundee, who he says Bigelow was tough. Derrick King walks out “Bam Bam is dead. Your career is dead. This program is going to be dead, if Dundee continues talking out here.” Dundee beat DK by DQ. DK gets heat on Dundee after hitting him with a chain. Dundee starts his comeback, then a ref bump and DK superkicks him. Fine throws in the JR Title and DK hits Dundee with it. Ref Bill Rush sees the belt and DQ’s DK.

----Maclin makes Fine go back to the dressing room. Jerry Lawler comes out for an interview. Jimmy Hart is on the phone again. Maclin says he has talked to Hulk Hogan and he said he wants the match with Lawler. He said all they got to do is settle on a date and a place. Hart says he wants a 10,000 or 15,000 arena and Hulk is a very busy man with VH1 and such. They also announced that “Sam’s Town” Casino in Tunica, MS will start having Memphis Wrestling shows there. No date for Hogan vs Lawler or the first Sam’s Town show was announced.

----Jerry Lawler with Grady Watson beats Jethro/Nate the Rat in a handicap match. Jethro bodyslammed Lawler a couple of times, and then Lawler picked up Jethro in a halfway bodyslam. He should have never got him up or even tried that. Jethro has to use a foreign object to get the heat started. Nate got in and started hitting Lawler with something. Nate hits Jethro on mistake and then Lawler piledrives Nate and pins him for the win.

----Rashard comes out to announce that he has added the “Black Out Squad” to his stable. “Black Out Squad” [Oz/Bishop]/”Insane Clowns” [Bobo/Giggles] beat “The Posse” [‘Lil Chris/Simon]/Chris O’Neal/Tatt2. Heat on O’Neal. Hot tag to Chris. Everyone gets in the ring and Rashard get in the ring with Rush’s head turned and hits Chris with the Clown’s bucket. Chris is pinned. Not bad.

----Tim Grind comes out for an interview. Grind says that Flex is in jail. Grind brings out Flash Flanagan as his partner for the day. Grind/Flash win the Southern Tag Team Titles beating Kevin White/Dustin Starr. Heat was on Starr. Starr came out of the heat without a hot tag. White blind tagged in and got pinned when he was fooling around dancing over Grind and Flash kicked him in the face. Starr/White argued after the match.

----White comes out for an interview. He says he always has partners that let him down. Starr comes back out. Dundee comes out to take both of them to the back.

RassleNotes: Fine joined Maclin in the commentary and said Dundee was 103 years old. And I believe he said, “He is so old he can not even fall.” LOL DK has another bad match this week, but you can’t blame him, since he was working Dundee…They put advertising on “Smackdown” [both shows air on CW 30] about Jimmy Hart making a big announcement on TV on Memphis Wrestling. They are really teasing Hogan vs Lawler… Why would someone the size of Jethro have to use a foreign object?? Why would Lawler attempt to bodyslam him?? Horrible match…Good to see BO Squad on TV…Grind “shout outs” to Flex in jail to “Keep it down in there dawg, don’t give up your cornbread.” This is the perfect time to turn Flex. But, I am talking about Memphis Wrestling.…I love the idea of White going heel. He has been a babyface his whole career and this is going to be fun…Nothing on the show worth watching except the final tag team match and angle and maybe the DK interview. BTW, the Bigelow comment did not bother me that DK made. That interview would have got tons of heat in a full arena up North.
