Movie Gallery!! Austin Lane is There - Right now! RassleResults from "King of ASWF 1st Round"

----Austin Lane is signing autographs right now. I am not there. LOL But, he has a pretty good turnout for the autograph signing. I would like to thank "Newport Independent" for the awesome piece in their newspaper yesterday. If you are in the area, then pick a copy up. Great article!!

1st Round of "King of ASWF Tournament"

Scott Graham beat Rozzi…Austin Lane beat Chuck Daddy…Morgan Lane vs Al Smith – Acid jump both guys putting them out of the tournament…Aaron Polston come out and puts Acid in their place for the main event finals.

ASWF Title Match: X Kaliber beat Cody Murdoch

Scott Graham beat Austin Lane and Acid - Morgan/Smith jumped in ending with Graham pinning Lane.

----There were anywhere from 40 to 200 people in the building as they let them in for FREE, since “Hometown Days” was going on…Graham moved into the finals for tonight as he will face the winner of Night II tournament…Lane/Smith are a tag team “Epidemic” in ASWF, but had to work each other. I was told it was real funny with them doing the same spot every time…Cody is doing a Trevor Murdoch “cousin” gimmick.

----Danny Morris vs Chris Kilgore ended when Kilgore put a snake on Morris…Chris Rocker wrestled Mr. Wrestling III…Eric Wayne beat Kid Nickels…Fire beat Chris O’Neal using a loaded headbutt…”The Posse” [Simon Reed/Lil Chris] beat Super Destroyer/Beau James…Bill Dundee & “Mega Man” Rodney Grimes vs “Singing Cowboys” [Brian Steele/Don Bass] ended in No Contest.

----Crowd was about 220 with a gate close to $2420…Ken Wayne was backstage…I heard from a few sources that Wayne vs Kid was best match of the night. Good job for two rookies. Both guys will have strong votes this year in “rookie of the year”…Posse vs James/Destroyer was also good. James is a good solid worker. I have seen Super D work from James’ promotion and he is a big old school body looking solid worker. They set up something with money vs the tag belts with a rematch between those two teams in Savannah, TN on June 9...Wayne's win has him facing the TV champion Chris Rocker on the same show.

WWE Camp in Dyersburg, TN

----I got a call yesterday from Jeff McDonald to inform me that NBW will be hosting a WWE Camp on June 9th in conjunction with their next big event – “Spring Jam 2007.” Mike Bucci aka Simon Dean will be conducting the camp and will be in the corner of Sir Mo during the event that is also being promoted as Mo’s “Return To The WWE Tour.” The camp charge is only $150 per person. This is an opportunity for all workers in this area to be seen by Bucci, who is John Laurinaitis’ assistant, so who better to be seen by?? If you are serious about some day making it to the WWE or TNA or ROH, then this is your chance to learn some things. Call 731-571-4951 or 731-334-4787 to reserve your spot. I am not sure how many spaces will be open, but the Nashville camp only allowed thirty guys.

Brian Christopher Tonight!!

----For those attending the TLCW event tonight, Brian Christopher will be making an appearance. I am assuming they are shooting a big angle leading into "Mayhem". Christopher will be facing TLCW Champion "The Golden Boy" Greg Anthony for the belt.

RassleResults: LAW Rector, AR 5.11.07

----I reported earlier this week that Derrick King had told TLCW workers to not work Rector, AR for LAW. TLCW Champion “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony and Tommy Redneck have been regulars in TLCW, but both showed up to work last night. I wonder if the “ban” has been lifted?? Or did the guy just say “screw it”?? Greg Antony actually booked the show.

RESULTS

---Alec Fontez beat Idol Bane…Tommy Drama beat "Pretty Sexy" Gaylon Ray…Tank beat TL Jones…Tommy Redneck beat "Mr. Ego" Kilo…”Asylum” [Arnez/Psycho] with Kayte beat “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony & "The Enforcer" Mark Justice

---- There were about 50 in the crowd with 40 paid. Gate close to $240…High school prom was last night in Rector…Next week is the return of Tony Gunn…The TL in TL Jones stands for True Love which is Tommy Boy from Dyersburg…Eric Hayes no showed…It looked like a CCW reunion there with Redneck vs Kilo and Asylum vs Justice/Anthony and Tank. Every one of those guys held a CCW title in one shape or form.

The Ratings Are In - Lowest Rating Ever!!

----Less than a month ago, I wrote this same line – This is the lowest rating ever since the start of my site last year in May. Saturday night's show scored overall a 1.6 [26,862 viewers]. The first two quarters had pretty much the same rating and the last two quarters had the same rating. Nothing good to say about the rating, but I will go on record again saying, this was the best show of the year. Why didn’t people tune in?? This company is going to have to gain the trust back from the fans that they will put on a quality show – week after week – before we see any constant flow of good ratings.

["New Nature Boy" Kevin White comes out for interview. Corey Maclin is joined by special guest Bill Dundee as commentator. TV Title Match: Jerry Lawler vs Kevin White. Lawler used a piledriver during his shine. White used a chain to start the heat. Lawler came out of heat with straps. White uses chain on Lawler again, but has it hanging out of his trunks. Dundee comes up to grab the chain from outside the ring. Lawler rolls White up for the win. White goes over the announcer's desk to yell at Dundee. Good match.]

1st Quarter – 1.5 = 25,351 viewers

["Total Protection" Mr. Hughes interview. He called everyone "porch monkies". "Sam's Town" Title Match: Mr. Hughes beat Johnny Dotson to win the belt. This was a very short match with Dotson getting very little. As I have said, Hughes has looked real good in his stint with Memphis. Jerry Lawler interview - Mr. Hughes comes out and says, "You pulled a no-show here in Memphis, TN!! Did you get cold feet?? Why did you let these people down?? You backed out. What the hell happened to you??" Lawler walks away. "Hollywood" Jimmy Lawler..I mean Blaylock..interview - "Did you see Lawler run like a coward??" Blaylock also says he will manage the Moondogs for his personal friend Richard Lee. Grady Watson comes out. He is looking for a new team. Watson punches Blaylock in one of the worst punches in wrestling history."Too Cool 2" [Flex/Tim Grind] interview. From FedEx Forum - Brian Christopher vs Buff Bagwell clip. Clip included Brian's entrance and then went into Bagwell's heat. Everything they aired looked real good.]

2cnd Quarter – 1.5 = 25,184 viewers [- 167 viewers]

[They came back to Grind/Flex and they were sleeping. They said the clip should air for people that have insomnia. I think they might be building for Grind/Flex vs Bagwell/Christopher at the next "Sam's Town" show. Spellbinder comes out in full "Fantasio" gimmick. Spell does a few magic tricks. Rashard Devon with The Insane Clowns come out. Rashard says he has been talking to Derrick King, who is in an important meeting with Condoleezza Rice. Rashard offers Spell a contract. Spellbinder beats Clowns by COR. They sent Spell into the ropes for a double team move, but Spell came back with a big web all over Clowns. Clowns run away. I love this gimmick!! I hope they give the air time to get it over. They show small clip of The Assassins vs Brutus Beefcake/Bubba the Love Sponge. They show the clip of Brutus cutting Sal Corrente hair. "Big Cheese" Sal comes out with a towel on this head.]

3rd Quarter – 1.7 = 29,045 viewers [+3861 viewers]

[Corrente talks to Maclin as The Assassins beat Sam Shaw/Mike Black. Koko Ware comes out - "I want you to get in the ring today - one more time!!" Koko has Maclin get in the ring and says he wants to bury the hatchet. He says the "Birdman" is back. Assassins jump Maclin and Sal tells Koko to join him. Koko turns and makes the save for Maclin. Koko says he has made a change in this life. He says that he had a long conversation with Corey Maclin's father at the FedEx Forum. Koko says they need to bury the hatchet. Corey says he will shake Koko's hand if he will agree to be his partner at "Sam's Town" vs The Assassins. They shake hands. A tremendous interview and angle.]

4th Quarter – 1.7 = 29,045 viewers [no change]

12 Week Average – 2.6 = 44,365 viewers
12 Week High – 3.6 = 60,273 viewers - 3.17.07
12 Week Low – = 1.6 – 26,862 viewers – 5.05.07

LAST WEEK MEMPHIS RATINGS

LAW - The Show Must Go On........

----CEO of Lethal Attitude Wrestling sent the following today.

“There will be a LIVE LAW event this Friday night at the LAW Athletic Center in Rector, AR. Furthermore, LAW will continue to have LIVE wrestling events every Friday night at the LAW Athletic Center in Rector. While some of the faces will change, the high quality of professional wrestling that LAW has built its reputation upon will remain intact.”

-----When ask for comments about Derrick King, Dustin Starr or Kelly Warner, Jeff just sent “No comment.” I did have the pleasure of talking with him for a few moments on the phone tonight and O’Dell is taking this by the horns and looks like he will come out of it ok. As I have said before – only time will tell. The only talent that he has secured for tomorrow night is “The Aslyum” [Arnez/Psycho] with Kayte, Tommy Drama and TL Jones. I do know that many of the promotions in this area that are not associated with TLCW & their talent have been contacting O’Dell. I look for a mix of guys from everywhere to come in and help.

----The easiest thing that O’Dell will have to do is get talent for his shows. The hardest thing will be to get GOOD talent and weed out all the bad. He is has a building with capacity at the most 120 people at this point. If he will promote himself to sell that out every week, then he will be able to pay the bills and have a little left over. It has been proven in the last few weeks that names like Brian Christopher do not sell tickets in that area – it is mainly the home grown talent like Arnez, Psycho and at one time Tony Gunn.

Site News!!!

----The home page has been changed. The Austin Lane DVD is now available for order!! You can order both the Seth Knight DVD and Austin Lane DVD for only $18 with FREE SHIPPING!! TGB beat Tim Alfonzo.

Derrick King vs Dustin Starr w/”Genocide” [Maxx Corbin/Albino Rhino]
Lots of interfering in the match by Genocide. Rashard caught them and sent them to the back. Match ended in a no-contest when Genocide came back out and jumped King. Heels leave the ring and Derrick gets up and says he wants more and he wasn’t leaving till he beat their asses. They came back out but never got in the ring.

----150 in the crowd with about 130 paid with a gate close to $780…Crowd has been down the last few weeks. It makes you wonder if “Picture Perfect” was one of their big draws?? PP also had the best match on the “First Big Show of The Year” in January and will not be on “Mayhem”. “Mayhem” is packed and should be a great show…No mention of Alan Steele but his name was on the marquee sign.

"Genocide" [Maxx Corbin/Albino Rhino] beat The Assassins

Jerry "the King" Lawler & "Superstar" Bill Dundee beat "The New Nature Boy" Kevin White and Flash Flanagan...... very good match about the best of the night....

----This was a "Relay For Life" benefit with a $3600 gate with over 400 in the crowd. They raised a total of $5,000. Great job guys!!...White, in his hometown, heeled them and had lots of heat in the main event...Doug Gilbert no showed and I have been told is not welcome to work anymore of their shows...Maxx Corbin was trained by Kevin White.

Laying Down The LAW - More Fallout!!

----It might be worse than I reported the last few days. I have been told by a few sources that Derrick King is also gone from LAW and told his TLCW crew Saturday night to not work LAW anymore. Jeff O’Dell, the last of the founding members, has been sent an e-mail, but no response yet. Will the show go on Friday night?? It should be interesting.

----Speaking of TLCW, Christian Jacobs and Jon Michael, just off their WWE Heat appearance, was backstage, but was not used Saturday night in Ripley?? WTF?? We should have full results from Saturday night posted sometime tomorrow.

Laying Down The LAW - More Fallout

----I am getting speculation on whether the promotion will continue or not. Check out Dustin Starr's site on the blog section. He goes into detail about working for LAW and his feelings. It is a good look at "inside" the head of indy guys. And, RRO's friend and LAW co-founder Brian Thompson sent the following to Starr.

D. Starr,

This is Brian Thompson. Don't blame you for folding them with LAW. I would've done it a long time ago if I were you. Of course I did do it a long time ago myself. LOL I hope you know I always appreciated your talent. Even back in 2003, I would've done a lot more with you, but what the hell. You help create a company (like coming up with the damn name), you help set up the biggest show in company history (Black River Brawl - name I came up with too - and set up the meeting with the building's director who I had a history with), but all of a sudden you ain't shit. Damn. Do I sound like some old bitter bitch? Yeah. I wanted to fold it after that show. Where else could you go but down from there?

Brian Thompson

Laying Down The LAW - The Fallout Continues...

----Kelly Warner steps down and Brian Christopher is told that they can not afford him without Warner and now the LAW Champion has quit. The following was posted on www.dustinstarr.com today.

Here's the official word from the current LAW Heavyweight Champion, Five Starr:"I've been with LAW since the very beginning. I've had fun... I've been miserable... I've made good money... I've made horrible money (or no money at all). I've done a lot of favors for that crew for way too long. I'm done doing favors. It's time that I part ways with LAW. I will no longer wrestle for LAW, from this day forward. I have relinquished the LAW Championship belt... and this is my final notice. I quit."

Nick Grymes Is Ok - Have You Ever Licked A Horse??

I talked with Grymes a few hours ago about the car accident that occurred last night coming back from Jumpertown, MS. “We [Grymes and his father] had just left the show in Jumpertown, going down highway 4. We had crossed into Tippah co. at some point. I really didn’t know what was going on cause I was leaning forward texting my girlfriend.”

“Then all of a sudden I feel us slowing down. I look up and don’t see anything but some fog. My dad goes “Matt..horse!” and kinda shoved me back. All of a sudden it like appears from no where and jumped up and its head went through the windshield on my side”

The horse’s head went smashing into the windshield and came face to face with Grymes “Beccause with me leaning all the way back in the seat I could have licked that damn horse in the nose.”

Grymes then shoved his hand and arm forward, so that he did not go head to head with the horse with glass shattering and cutting his hand. His dad was asking him if he was ok and ask him to call 911, “he told me to call 911 and then all of a sudden he just went limp and fell over the steering wheel.”

Grymes said that he was pretty sore today with his hand and knee hurting. He said that initial reports on his dad were not good, but after a full body x-ray, they told him nothing was broken, but he would be very sore.

RassleResults and Update: LAW Keiser, AR 5.3.07

UPDATE

----Police Chief Michael Hill of Keiser, AR contacted me yesterday. He stated no charges will be filed against anyone with LAW, but would like for some of the personnel that helped arrange the event to call him with an apology to the Fire Dept. The school was an elementary school, not a high school as reported earlier. This is a matter that will probably just go away, but it will also affect anyone wanting to do wrestling in Keiser again.

RESULTS

“The Posse” [Lil Chris/Simon Reed] beat “The Asylum’ [Psycho/James Arnez]…Derrick King beat Flash Flanagan…Chris O’Neal beat Stan Lee with a powerbomb…Derrick King/Stan Lee/Brian Christopher beat Flash Flanagan/Chris O’Neal/Dustin Starr.

----There were about 50 in attendance and probably about 30 paid. Gate was probably less than $300… Derrick vs Flash had DK winning the initial match and after that Flash got on the mic and said make it 2 out of 3 falls and Derrick agreed. They got back in the ring and Flash rolled Derrick up but he reversed it and won the second fall….The main Derrick put Grandmasters glasses on and hit the hip hop drop for the finish. Match was your basic Christopher match with alot of comedy spots with Christopher losing his pants and giving wedgies to everyone. He even got Flash to dance and do the worm or something like the worm. LOL After the match Derrick, Brian, Stan, and a fan all did the Too Cool dance.

HBO To Do Story on Sputnik

----I got this from www.prowrestlingpress.com and thought I would pass it along.

HBO Producing Film On Memphis Wrestling Legend

Today's edition of Variety reported that HBO Films will be producing a movie on the life of Southern professional wrestling legend Sputnik Monroe today. Julien Nitzberg has been hired to write the screenplay while Elysa Koplovitz ("Varsity Blues") and Jeff Feuerzeig ("The Devil and Daniel Johnson" documentary) will be producing the film.

The film is expected to focus on Monroe's part in the civil rights movement, with Variety noting Monroe, "refused to perform if African-Americans weren't allowed to sit in the seats of their choosing at various arenas. He also helped integrate the ring."

While "helping to integrate the ring" would likely be overstating his importance, Monroe did help to break down the color barriers in the city of Memphis. During that time period, African-American fans weren't allowed to sit anywhere but in designated areas. Monroe would get employees to lie about how many colored fans were in the building, because the venue would often limit the amounts allowed in for those sections.

Monroe would also, as a top draw, refuse to go on unless those fans were allowed to sit anywhere they chose.

While some remember Monroe for being altruistic when doing this, others have claimed Monroe was doing it to make sure no one was turned away at the door because his pay was derived from a portion of the live gates, so he wanted to insure he would make the most possible.

Nick Grymes and Dad in Car Accident!!

----This was reported on www.hollywoodjimmy.com 's board. If anyone hears anything, please e-mail me.

"After my family and I left the JWS show last night and were on our way home we came up on a car accident. Turns out it was Nick Grymes and his dad. An officer said they were going to transport both to Tippah Co. Hospital and air lift Nick's father to another hospital. My prayers are with both, and wish them well!"

Memphis Wrestling TV Report 5.05.07 - Lawler Returns To TV!!

----"New Nature Boy" Kevin White comes out for interview. Good match.

----"Total Protection" Mr. Hughes interview. He called everyone "porch monkies". "Sam's Town" Title Match: Mr. Hughes beat Johnny Dotson to win the belt. This was a very short match with Dotson getting very little. As I have said, Hughes has looked real good in his stint with Memphis.

----Jerry Lawler interview - Mr. Hughes comes out and says, "You pulled a no-show here in Memphis, TN!! Did you get cold feet?? Why did you let these people down?? You backed out. What the hell happened to you??" Lawler walks away. Great stuff!!!

----"Hollywood" Jimmy Lawler..I mean Blaylock..interview - "Did you see Lawler run like a coward??" Blaylock also says he will manage the Moondogs for his personal friend Richard Lee. Grady Watson comes out. He is looking for a new team. Watson punches Blaylock in one of the worst punches in wrestling history.

----"Too Cool 2" [Flex/Tim Grind] interview. From FedEx Forum - Brian Christopher vs Buff Bagwell clip. Clip included Brian's entrance and then went into Bagwell's heat. Everything they aired looked real good. They came back to Grind/Flex and they were sleeping. They said the clip should air for people that have insomnia. I think they might be building for Grind/Flex vs Bagwell/Christopher at the next "Sam's Town" show.

----Spellbinder comes out in full "Fantasio" gimmick.

----They show small clip of The Assassins vs Brutus Beefcake/Bubba the Love Sponge. They show the clip of Brutus cutting Sal Corrente hair. "Big Cheese" Sal comes out with a towel on this head. Corrente talks to Maclin as The Assassins beat Sam Shaw/Mike Black.

----Koko Ware comes out - "I want you to get in the ring today - one more time!!" Koko has Maclin get in the ring and says he wants to bury the hatchet. A tremedous interview and angle.

----Notes: Crowd was loud for these tapings...May 5th was Guy Coffee's 86th birthday...May 26, Sam's Town - All ringside seat holders will get a free "Clash of Legends" T-shirt and first 300 kids receive Hulkamania t-shirt at the Sam's Town show...I love the Lawler angle!! Lawler will prove that he is one of the smartest men in the business with an angle like this one...Sal Corrente was very good on the mic...I always have a problem with promoters pushing themselves, but I guess that is something that has been going on for years and will continue to go on. Not sure if the Maclin/Koko angle will draw a dime, but it was very well done and came off legit...This was the best show of the year. Great show. If they would continue to do storylines and give everyone time, this would be a must see TV show...Missing for various reasons from the tapings: Chris O'Neal, Derrick King, Flash Flanagan, "The Posse" [Simon Reed/Lil Chris], Dustin Starr and others.

LAST WEEK ON MEMPHIS WRESTLING

RassleResults: NBW Dyersburg, TN 5.5.07

New NBW Commissioner Jimmy Tidwell out at the beginning of the show to talk about the Main Event NBW Title Match later in the evening between Tank & the returning "All That" Allen Steele. Tidwell says that the match will not have any outside interference whatsoever because Ca$hFlow is barred from ringside.

"Upset Kid" Jeremy Moore & Phoenix X w/ Gryffon X defeated "Pretty Sexy" Gaylon Ray & Stumaga w/ Bigg Money Gripp after Phoenix X sailed onto Gaylon Ray who was on the outside. That left Stumaga & Moore in the ring. Stumaga went for the "D-Burg Spike" but Moore hit an "RKO" out of it to come up with the win. After the match Gaylon Ray & Stumaga started shoving each other before finally Ray & BMG left.

"Wildcard" Chris Graham's music hit and he came to the ring. Graham done a mic spill saying that he has been in NBW over a month now and that all he sees are characters and gimmicks. He is tired of being what everyone expects him to be or wants him to be. He has had a long talk with his family about this decision. They are not happy about it, but he is here to tell all the people, whether they cheer him or boo him, that it was time for him to be himself. Graham then started putting on eyeshadow, lipstick and eyeliner in the middle of the ring. Graham told the people that they could either accept him or not but from here on out he was no longer "Wildcard". The people can start calling him "Bootyliscious"!?

NBW High Risk Champion "Mr. EGO" Kilo defeated J. Weezy in a non-title match after hitting his "Money Maker" (version of the old Kid Kash piledriver).

"The Enforcer" Mark Justice defeated "Real Deal" Tim Edwards after Chief Crazy Train came out and blasted Edwards with a sign. After the match Crazy Train got in the ring and was doing his "Wardance" around Edwards. Edwards got up and ran Crazy Train back to the locker room.

NBW Hardcore Champion Gunner Thompson defeated Psycho w/ Kayte to retain the title. After the match, Psycho gave NBW Official Barry the "DreamCatcher". NBW Commissioner Jimmy Tidwell came out and told Psycho that he was fired from NBW for putting his hands on one of his officials. Tidwell then had someone from the locker room bring Psycho his bags and Security escorted Psycho off the premises.

NBW Heavyweight Champion "All That" Allen Steele defeated Tank. Tank was going for his "Detonator" piledriver, when Mark Justice came out. Referee Ron got out of the ring and forced Justice to the back. meanwhile in the ring, Steele grabbed his title belt and went to blast Tank. Tank ducked and kicked Steele and went for the powerbomb. When Tank got Steele up, Steele still had ahold of the belt and blasted Tank in the head and tossed the belt aside. The referee came back in the ring and counted the three.

----There were about 70 in the crowd with a gate close to $420…The best bout of the night was Steele vs Tank. The marks were totally into it and the boys in the back thought it was the best of the night…I cracked up when I got the vision of Crazy Train dancing in the ring and waiting for Tim Edwards to get up. Edwards is so much bigger than Train and Train is just funny looking. Great stuff!!...Psycho’s last show for the company for now. I think he is going back to XOW…I don’t think much of the gay gimmick, because Erik Hayes just went back to doing it.
