Memphis Wrestling TV Report 1.23.08 and The Ratings: Lowest Rating EVER!!

----I would like to apologize for taking so long to get this report up. I have just been so uninterested in Memphis Wrestling because of these reruns. After getting the rating in, then I can see no one else really cares either. Next week starts the Terry Funk interviews and it will be something for everyone to TIVO that has not seen them. We will skip “Flashback” also this week as we will return next with full analysis of the Funk interviews including excerpts from his book.

THE RATINGS

----This show did an overall rating of 1.5 [25,352 viewers], which is the lowest rating recorded since starting this site in May, 2006. May 5, 2006 scored a 1.6 [26,862], which was the reigning champion up until this past weekend. The Vols vs Tigers match up can probably contribute to some of the loss of audience, because overall viewing was down by 26%. The only “highlight” of this rating is that the show gained over 17,000 viewers from start to finish and that might be the fact that people were wanting to know who the surprise that Maclin had.

THE SHOW

----Jerry Lawler and Corey Maclin open the show with Tennessee Volunteers and Memphis Tigers gear. Maclin is still in love with Jerry. Maclin and Lawler talk about when Maclin brought in Terry Funk.

----Match starts with Kamala turning on Maclin from “ThrowBack Night” as Lawler/Jimmy Hart help him beat up Maclin. The Fords make the save. Have I said how horrible this was?? LOL

----Lawler/Hart interview with Brian Teigland. Lawler gives Maclin hell for bringing out the Fords. Lawler said that the Fords hid behind the kids. Not sure why they continued to talk about his, because the Fords didn’t do anything else with wrestling; did they??
Lawler invites them to the TV station. Hart is hilarious here. They show a video of the new Cadillac that Lawler “won” in the battle royal.

1st Quarter Rating 1.1 [19,139 viewers]

----Lawler interview continues. Maclin promises Lawler he has someone for him at the next “ThrowBack II”.

----Rest of the second quarter was a “Special News Alert” with info about the Vols vs Tigers game with them talking to drunks on Beale about the win/loss.

2cnd Quarter Rating 1.5 [25,184 viewers]

----In progress for the finish of “Sexy Assassins” [Flex/Tim Grind] beat Tony Gunn/Dr. Death [who was this??] with Flex pinning Gunn.

----Koko Ware interview. Ware claims he put Brandon Groom and Ms Summer out of wrestling. This was horrible. Ware talks about Kevin White. White jumps Koko and send him packing. White – interview. Good interview.

----Shock/Nicolas Doom beat “the Lifeguards” [Scott & Dustin Starr]. Not a good match. Shock pins Scott

3rd Quarter Rating 1.2 [20,483 viewers]

----Shock interview with Doom & valet?? Who was the girl??

----Maclin brings out Lawler/Hart to tell him who will be his partner for “ThrowBack II”. Hart is so funny here. Hart takes off his shirt again this week. LOL Maclin talks about the Kat – when she left him Maclin was the only one that he could cry on his shoulder. Maclin reminds Lawler that this man makes him sick – he almost throws up thinking about this man. 8.28.04 – He hates your guts!! “I am talking about Terry Funk!!!” Lawler chases Maclin. Good stuff!!

----Lawler/Maclin in studio again. Lawler talk about Maclin suing people. LOL Maclin just loves Jerry!!

4th Quarter Rating 2.2 [36,432 viewers]
