A Piece of My Mind April 4th 2009 by "The Big Cheese" Sal Corrente

It is Wrestlemania and Hall of Fame weekend. If you look at the whole weekend on paper it seems somewhat lackluster. In past years certain Super Bowls haven’t looked sensational on paper or even World Series matchups. The marquee teams didn’t get in to the big game and everyone groaned. With that being said Wrestlemania is still the "big" game in our industry. This is a time when branding really pays off. When it’s all said and done even a lackluster Wrestlemania is still the big game and all eyes are on it.
This year’s event paints a very clear picture that next year the WWE can’t be in this position again. They have to immediately anoint a few guys and take the next year to make the company care about them. They don’t have to be able to work like Shawn Michaels, who is clearly the best performer in the company if not the business. It may be time for Shawn to give someone a rub next Wrestlemania and perhaps The Undertaker too. Who can get put in those spots? That is for the McMahon family to decide. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be the best performer but it does need to be the most charismatic people that they have. It almost appears, since no one knows exactly what to do, that no one is doing anything. That approach has killed many a business. Decisions have to be made, a direction needs to be chosen, and all wheels need to be pointed that way.
Wrestlemania should not be booked on the fly witch decisions not being made in many cases at the last minute. If they want Hulk to be a part of the Wrestlemania 26 that decision should be made now and a clear direction can be taken throughout the year. It is the job of the WWE ownership group to constantly out do itself. In other sports it’s the best man wins. In wrestling it’s a race to create the best story. There should have been a lot more buzz about Wrestlemania. It should have seemed like Christmas was coming. If this year was a bump in the road the potholes can be filled in and the road to next year can be smoother. It has to be!
The Hall of Fame is special for me this year. The inductees include Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Dory Jr and Terry Funk, Koko B.Ware, Howard Finkel, The Von Erich’s and Bill Watts all men I have interacted with in my career. I have respect for all these men and a few I consider good friends especially Ricky Steamboat. There will always be talk of who does and who doesn’t belong in the Hall of Fame. It’s no secret that the inductions aren’t a science. In theory how can anyone be inducted before former WWWF Heavyweight Champion Ivan Koloff or any other champion that is willing to accept the induction. It should be a night of celebration for the inductees not dwelling on those that weren't inducted. We all have our opinion on who the next inductees should be and we are entitled to them but tonight we should just celebrate.
I can’t wait to see Ricky Steamboat get in the ring again tomorrow. I remember how I was the first time I refereed his match. I can remember the first time that he critiqued mine. I have an idea what Chris Jericho is going to feel like tomorrow when he takes one of those classic arm drags. I very much look forward to Steamboat-Flair the second generation. I hope we all get to see it on a Wrestlemania one day.
The new WWE year begins on Monday it’s like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. They start the day after preparing for next year’s parade. The rest of us can sit around and go over Wrestlemania match by match but for the powers that be at WWE they must look forward while we look back.

This picture is from WrestleReunion 1 in Tampa. The last two men in the Battle Royal to determine the new IWA Champion were Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and Bugsy McGraw. It was great to see Bugsy back in action and especially in Tampa,Fl.

This has been a piece of my mind

The Thompson Perspective by Brian Thompson 04.03.2009

It’s been awhile since I’ve written a new column here at RasslinRiotOnline. That is what being on the road will do to a person! Anyway, I have a few minutes to spare today so I’ve decided to produce a new edition of “The Thompson Perspective” on what is traditionally the biggest weekend in wrestling – WrestleMania weekend. Later in the column, I’ll share some Mania memories and thoughts; however, first I want to recap what was, for me, a very rewarding couple of days last weekend.

As you have probably read by now here on the site, Midnight Gold – “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “Golden Boy” Greg Anthony managed by yours truly – officially debuted as a “unit” at the World Wide Championship Wrestling (WWCW) event in Cape Girardeau, MO, last Saturday night. As a lifelong wrestling fan, Cape Girardeau holds a special place in my heart. It is the town where I saw my first live wrestling event – a World Wrestling Federation card at the Show Me Center headlined by Hacksaw Jim Duggan taking on “King” Harley Race in late 1987. Getting to perform in Cape more than 21 years after that moment was certainly an honor.

Due to Bobby’s travel schedule, he was unable to get all of his Missouri licensing issues resolved, so he joined me as a manager in the corner of the “Golden Boy” for his match with Brandon Espinosa. This was the first time I had the chance to meet Brandon. I was impressed with his talents in the ring and his attitude outside the ring. Here’s a prime example of how good this guy’s attitude is. We were discussing an interview segment that Midnight Gold would have early on in the show. I wanted to say a few things about Brandon, putting him over as opposed to saying something like “he’s a no talent bum.” If I establish Brandon, then it (1) helps him and (2) makes a “Golden Boy” victory that much more meaningful if he beats someone who means something. The idea was that the match with Brandon was a “final exam” for Greg to cement his place as a member of Midnight Gold. We believe in him, but we want him to prove us right against a top athlete like Espinosa.

Anyway, I’m having a conversation with Brandon, getting a few tidbits about where he has wrestled and who he has trained with. He mentioned a name that was a mutual acquaintance for both of us. However, he asked that I not mention that he was trained by this gentleman because he does not have “permission” to say that. Wow! What respect that is. How many times do we see wrestlers make false claims to get themselves over? Too many that’s for sure. It was nice to see that Brandon truly respects wrestling.

Speaking of conversations, I also had a nice long chat with my former Lethal Attitude Wrestling (LAW) business partner Jeff O’Dell during the WWCW event. As most of you know, back in the fall of 2001 I helped break Jeff into the wrestling business along with Brian Tramel and his Chaotic Championship Wrestling (CCW) promotion. Jeff and I have had an interesting, to say the least, relationship since the beginning of this millennium. We haven’t always seen eye-to-eye. Well, I’m happy to say that our conversations last weekend at least put some old, meaningless issues to rest. Life is far too short to waste on petty grudges. No, Jeff and I will not be teaming up next week to run a show at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff or anything like that, but at least we came to an agreement on some things. Who knows? Midnight Gold may show up in LAW…. crazier things have happened. I know Jeff has had some tough luck recently with LAW and its former Rector, AR home. I think I recall him also running a few shows in Brownsville, TN as of late. I’m not sure of the status of LAW moving forward, but I wish Jeff the best of luck. No matter any disagreements from the past or whatever, my career will always have strong ties to LAW from being a part of the promotion’s original management team. Thanks Jeff for taking the time to at least listen to my side of the story last weekend. That was a rewarding moment of closure.

As I mentioned at the start of this column, this is what is traditionally the biggest weekend in wrestling – WrestleMania weekend. This is also the 25th edition of the event, although technically not the 25th anniversary that is being advertised but I won’t be too picky.

This year’s card has received a lot of criticism. I would have to agree. Nothing, other than the Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels and maybe the battle of the Hardys, feels like a “WrestleMania” match. That’s not to say that the other matches won’t be good. There’s just nothing that blows you away on paper other than the matches I mentioned. That is not necessarily a bad thing as sometimes the weak card on paper turns into the legendary card after the fact. I’m looking forward to seeing how this year’s show goes.

I’ve really enjoyed reading some of Dustin Starr’s WrestleMania memories over at his blog. It makes me feel a little old when he talks about how young he was when WrestleMania III went down. I was just 6-years-old, but I remember that show like it was yesterday. I still think that is one of the best shows ever, top to bottom, with the huge main event of Andre vs.Hogan, and the fantastic Savage-Steamboat bout. It had the look and feel of a Super Bowl, that’s for sure. We were watching the show on pay-per-view, which was a new concept at the time. When Hogan slammed Andre, everyone in my house popped. It was a memorable moment. I’ve re-watched that show dozens of times. It never gets old.

What I hate about today’s wrestling world of 30 plus pay-per-views a year, is that even WrestleMania sometimes doesn’t feel as special as it used to. I remember counting down the days, starting like two months out when I was a kid for certain events. Blink now and it’s time for the next PPV between WWE, TNA and ROH all three now on PPV and it was similar in 1997 with WCW, WWF and ECW. I guess that’s how times change.

Regardless, WrestleMania will be a memorable event. Bobby Eaton and I will be racing back from a long road trip to West Virginia trying to get back to my house in the Wynne, AR area to catch the show. That is just what we wrestling people do I guess!

Until next time, take care and thanks for reading!

Memphis Wrestling TV Report 3.28.09

Corey Maclin welcomed everyone to the show and said, "We've got a dandy of a day, coming up, today on Memphis Wrestling!" Corey is at Minglewood Hall, again, this week. Jerry "The King" Lawler is not with him, but Corey will be talking to him, later, about WrestleMania. I can't wait! About to leave for Houston. Woooooo! Speaking of WrestleMania, Corey will have a special one-on-one sit down interview with "The Birdman" Koko B. Ware on this Saturday's April 4th edition of Memphis Wrestling, the same day he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Corey announced that coming up on the show, we'll see "Exotic" Adrian Street and "Boogie Woogie Man" Handsome Jimmy Valiant in action. Also, we'll hear from Dave Millican about his production of championship title belts.

Memphis Wrestling returns to Minglewood Hall on Thursday, April 16th. 7:30 bell time. Minglewood Hall is located at 1555 Madison Ave. To purchase tickets: Box office is open from 10-4, Mon-Fri or by calling, toll-free 866-609-1744. You can also visit minglewoodhall.com.

Corey said a few words about "Exotic" Adrian Street. He compared him to Boy George.

Opening the Vault classic match, featuring "Exotic" Adrian Street teaming with "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert with Miss Linda and "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart in their corner against "Macho Man" Randy Savage and his brother Lanny Poffo, before he became a Genius. Mr. Wrestling ran in to attack Savage, leading to the disqualification. Joe Lightfoot made the save and cleared the ring.

Corey said they should have the card finalized and more info on the Minglewood Hall show, next week.

Corey shared a funny story about "The Birdman" Koko B. Ware when he was on a plane with Koko B. Ware, headed to the XWF tapings in Orlando. Corey recalled, "I'm sitting there and the stewardess is on the microphone, been doing the introductions about the seat belts and the safety and the life jackets and all this sort of thing. And then, all of the sudden, she says, "Is there a Koko B. Ware on the plane?" And I look and he raises his hand. He pushes the buzzer for the stewardess, the airline stewardess. She says, "Yes, Mr. Ware, are you still going to be needing a wheelchair to go wrestle, tonight?" Jimmy Hart had set them a message to get Koko a wheelchair. It was the funniest thing I ever seen in my life."

Classic Footage of "The Birdman" Koko B. Ware in action as Stagger Lee in the P.Y.T. Express, alongside Norvell Austin. They battled The Fabulous Ones, "Wildfire" Tommy Rich and "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert edition in a wild street fight that spilled into the crowd, to the dressing room and concession stands. Here's a video of that match.

Following the highlights, Dave Brown spoke with the P.Y.T. Express and Jimmy Hart in the studio. They were rocking the Michael Jackson look. They even wore the glove. They were asking where Tommy Rich and Eddie Gilbert were. Well, they got there answer, soon after, as Rich and Gilbert stormed on the scene, chasing off the P.Y.T. Express.

Corey thanked everyone for tuning in and announced that they have some terrific dates of wrestling, coming up. Some all-star action is on the way to Memphis, Tennessee. They made a big deal with AutoZone Park and the Memphis Redbirds, this past week. They will be giving us that date for AutoZone Park, real soon. Also, Delta Fair and Music Festival coming up, again, soon. They'll be telling us about that.

We hear from Dave Millican from Tennessee, that actually crafted almost every belt that we've seen in Memphis Wrestling, from the Southern Heavyweight Title, to the Southern Tag-Team Titles, all the way to the Mid-America belt and the Cruiser Title, as well. Growing up, Dave said he remembered when he used to make belts out of cardboard and whatever else he could get his hands on. He credited Reggie Parks, as the man that got him in the belt business. Jerry "The King" Lawler got Dave his first dose of television exposure for his work. Jerry asked him at television if he could take those tag-team belts and make them look a little better. He took them home and about a week later, brought them back to "The King" and "The Superstar", which met their approval. Dave gave us a quick tour of his collection of wrestling memorabilia, that included one of "The King's" crowns and capes, The Fabulous Ones' ring jackets, Tojo Yamamoto's wooden shoes and Kerry Von Erich's jacket from where he won the World Heavyweight Championship from Ric Flair. Dave said when he started doing this, there was no real outlet, unless you were in the wrestling business or knew someone in the wrestling business, you couldn't get a hold of these things as collectibles. Now, it's actually not that hard to do. Come see Dave at DaveMillicanbelts.com and he will tell you how to get your own real World Heavyweight Championship belt. Again, Dave invited everyone to visit him at DaveMillicanbelts.com

Classic video package, featuring "Boogie Woogie Man" Handsome Jimmy Valiant. This featured a promo with Jimmy talking about an upcoming tar and feather match with the Dirty White Boys. "Ravishing" Rick Rude was by his side during the interview. Valiant went on to make quick work out of his opponent, The Invader. The late, great Gordon Solie called the action. Next, came a promo with "Handsome" Jimmy talking about "Iron" Mike Sharpe. Valiant finished the interview by kissing Lance Russell. Another clip, featuring "Handsome" Jimmy, successfully, defeating Big Lou Winston with the sleeper hold. Referee Jerry Calhoun had to get Jimmy to wake Winston up. Jimmy woke him up, alright. Valiant sent him flying over the top-rope.

We heard from Jerry "The King" Lawler who talked about the unfortunate incident that took place between "Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Chris Jericho on Raw. He explained the reason why he didn't help Flair. Jerry said the last thing that Flair would have wanted would have to be saved. Lawler continued, "Had I helped Ric Flair, he would have been appreciative, in a way, but in a way, he would have resented it because it's almost like, "Hey, you're not man enough to fight your own fights." Jerry said we will hear from some WrestleMania participants in a couple minutes.

Jerry talked about the big show, coming up on Thursday, April 16th, at Minglewood Hall. Jerry said that following the hardcore match between "Dangerous" Doug Gilbert and Brian Christopher, Doug Gilbert decided to call "Wildfire" Tommy Rich to come back on April 16th. Lawler showed some footage of his main memory of Tommy Rich, to help explain the reason why he volunteered to be Brian Christopher's partner on April 16th. He showed video of when Tommy Rich hid under the ring and interfered in Jerry Lawler's cage match with Austin Idol, which resulted in "The King" losing his hair. During the match, Referee Jerry Calhoun took a piledriver from Idol. Paul E. Dangerly threw powder in the eyes of Lawler. Lawler piledrived Idol. Rich ran in and gave Lawler two piledrivers. Rich and Idol gave Lawler a posting, pulling his legs into the steel ring post.

Following the clip, Jerry said that posting resulted in a couple of surgeries. Jerry's always felt like there's some payback that's owed to Tommy Rich. Since "The King" hasn't seen Tommy Rich in a long, long time, he wondered what he looks like, now. Lawler did a little asking around in the WWE, last week and got some different responses. Some people said he looks great. Some people said, not so great.

Here's what JBL had to say about "Wildfire" Tommy Rich: Look, King! You know JBL always shoots straight and let me tell you this. What Ponce de León was looking for, Tommy Rich has found! That man has turned back the clock. You think Dick Clark looks the same? Tommy Rich looks better than ever. King, you're a great warrior. You're a great wrestler, but you could tie him to a tree and not beat him in a week. That man is coming for you, King! Sorry to tell you that, but that's coming from JBL.

Downtown Bruno had this to say about Tommy Rich: I tell you what, Tommy was always an excellent competitor in the ring. Always looked good. Had a good body. I mean, really great athlete. Great wrestler. Good looking guy, young guy.......uh? What's that? Oh, Tommy Rich! I thought you said Tom Prichard. Oh, Tommy Rich! Oh my god! Last time I seen him, he looked like a fat, alcoholic with no money and no teeth. Well, then again, the first time I saw him, he looked that way too. So, you know, what could I say?

Here's what Santino Marella had to say about "Wildfire": Jerry "Stupid" Lawler! You're, obviously, not too smart. Have you seen Tommy Rich, lately? He looks like he's sculpted from a marble, like a Greek god! Hahahaha! You don't have a chance, Jerry! Tommy is going to get you!

Finally, Triple H said, "King, wait til you see what Tommy Rich looks like, today." (Silently says, "Whoa!", while shaking his head)

We hear from Lawler's tag-team parner for the April 16th show at Minglewood Hall, "Grandmasta Sexay" Brian Christopher. Christopher said, "Doug Gilbert, Dangerous Doug Gilbert. So dangerous that I guess it got too extreme last time there at Minglewood Hall that you had to go out and you had to make a phone call. You had to call one of your long lost buddies and it's a real long lost buddy when you gotta call somebody like "Wildfire" Tommy Rich! I mean, you gotta dig way back in your little black book to find "Wildfire" Tommy Rich's number. Well, I tell you what, you bring him down there to Memphis. You bring yourself down there to Memphis, my backyard, my hometown, Mempho, Tennessee! It's gonna be easy for me to find a tag-team partner! I mean, it's going to be real easy. I'm just gonna have to drive down the streets of Memphis, drive right over there, around near Walnut Grove to a friend of mine called "The King"! That's right! He's gonna be my tag-team partner and we can't wait to get our hands on you, right there at Minglewood Hall! My hometown! "The King's" hometown! Mempho! Be there, Punks!"

Corey Maclin reminded everyone that, next week, there will be a one-on-one interview with Koko B. Ware on the day of his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Corey will be looking for you to join him.

----I did get the chance to see the last two bouts on this show via www.myspace.com/wwcw. Anthony vs Espinosa was a real solid bout with building for the finish. Apparently they ran angle where Thompson/Eaton said this was Anthony's test to join them and they were not going to interfere. Managers - take a look at hard Thompson works around the ring. After that interview in ASWF and hard working as he is - he easily could be considered in the "Manager of the Year" category. Dang, TGB's hair is growing back fast!!..."Asylum of Pain" is the heel group of Pappy/Psycho/Cruz. Eric Young did a good job working with everyone. Blade was the weak link here, but did an ok job. Pappy was also looked good here. He is like 1.5 the speed of Psycho and looks like a mini Psycho. It is almost scary how is mannerisms and moves look almost just like Psycho. Pappy is one of my leading candidates for 2009 "Most Improved"...Eaton and Cruz did not have their blood work done, so they worked as managers.

Coach's Corner "Orton, ROH and Mexican Shiznit"

----I do occasionally watch or read about other wrestling than just wrestling here in the Memphis Wrestling. I consider RRO the best site in the area to cover the Memphis area promotions. This is our main focus and I might seem to “tunnel vision” my site by doing that sometimes. And I do know that I get so involved with the area scene that sometimes I forget there is wrestling going on out of this area. I recently had the chance to see some stuff that got my interest and read some stuff out this area that I just wanted to give my thoughts on. RAW, ROH HDNET and Mexican wrestling has given me some things to stimulate the brain about.

----They are building to “Wrestlemania”, so you are expecting some hot TV. Everyone has raved about Chris Jericho and I got to agree his stuff has been good, but my favorite thing I have seen on RAW in a long time was the angle with Randy Orton and Stephanie McMahon. I usually don’t fawn over any of the women workers or post photos of women near naked on this site, but just let me say this – I am huge mark for Stephanie. If she ever posed for Playboy, I would be the first in line to buy one. Not only that but she did a great job taking that DDT from Orton. Orton, who I have never been a big fan of, was fantastic in this angle. I really truly thought he was going to hit Stephanie with the sledge hammer. His mannerisms before and after the angle were top notch and he has come a long way since his debut. HHH did a good job here also. Orton reaching down and kissing Stephanie was just fantastic. He should have just taken it a step further and grab a boob or something. Would that been too far?? Or is that just me wishful thinking?? Come on folks – lighten up – a DVD of Randy Orton having sex with Stephanie McMahon would be on top on the Adult chart.

----Have you had a chance to see ROH HDNET?? It is not easy to see unless you are fully equipped for HD and subscribed and all that horsecrap. But, you can do a quick search of youtube or your favorite torrent site and get a quick look at it. First of all – it looks so good that even though it is still considered a very distance third in big promotions in the US, it makes ROH look big time. The announcing team of Mike Hogewood and Dave Prazak are good tandem for wrestling. It is weird that that this is Hogewood’s first stint as a wrestling announcer and he is better than 80% of the others. Prazak [who was a subscriber of the classic RASSLIN RIOT fanzine] is one of those guys that is just good at what he does. The debut show featured some really good talent and solid bouts. Jerry Lynn vs Delirious was good, but this group does not always stick to “normal” psychology and is weird when you got a guy like Lynn who has worked forever not work classic psychology. I liked Delirious better in the green suit he use to work in. [Did you know he actually worked LAW shows??] I have a “man crush” on Tyler Black.[pictured] He is a big guy that works very hard. He has the look [sort of 2009 version of Scott Hall] and could step up to be a great worker. He worked Jimmy Jacobs. [If you seen this, Jacobs has the same hair style as Simon Reed’s ex-gf] Their bout wasn’t off the chart or anything, but it was the main event of the show. And the show featured better wrestling than any other show on TV.

----Mexican wrestling has always been the source of some well choreographed high spots and sometimes interesting behind the scenes stuff. Abismo Negro recently died of drowning. I am not going to make light of any death, but you got to just imagine what the person thought when they found him. He was on a bus that apparently wasn’t even going in the direction he was suppose to be going and had a panic attack. I use to have these on a regular basis, so he wanting to get off the bus was very understanding. Allegedly he was under the influence of something. He walked off the bus into the woods or swamp or something. He ended up tripping and stumbling and falling into a body of water. Now that brings us to the person that found him – was he still wearing his mask?? That had to be a crazy sight.

----And also from the land of masks and stiff rings comes the story of Juventud Guerrera having someone “shoot the shiznit” [couldn’t resist] in his wrestling bag. Dave Metlzer commented in the April 1, 2009 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “Guerrera has every bit as much if not more talent as Rey Mysterio, but his attitude has kept his career from going nowhere near as far as it should have gone.” I got to agree 100% with the Meltz as Guerrera has always been one that has been reported about thwne it comes to drug problems and attitude with various others. He wasn’t used in TNA because he didn’t like others getting their spots in, especially the young guys. After his match he comes back stage to a wet bag of poop. Well, this slightly upset him and he walked in the dressing room to do promos on Konnan and Jack Evans. I was laughing thinking about him doing promos talking about how the poop of Konnan ruined his bag and he would get revenge. Then apparently Jack Evans handed him an ass whipping and Juvi went on to tell the Mexican newspapers about this incident. I have heard a few people say this is an angle, but it looks like Juvi is gone from promotion. Could you actually do an angle about someone crapping in your bag?? This could then lead to a shiznit on a pole match. LOL SCATAMANIA coming to an arena near you!!!

----So as you can see, I do pay attention to wrestling in other areas. Not as much as I cover this area, but I do like to check in to see stuff or read about stuff from other areas. I mean what could you not like about Orton/McMahon angle, ROH HDNET and Mexican masks & poop??

BOOK TOUR 2009 WILL BE AT TWO EVENTS THIS WEEKEND!!

Friday April 3, 2009 – MCW Osceola, AR
Saturday April 4th, 2009 – EWE Ripley, TN

RassleResults: TXW Knoxville, TN 3.28.09

Last Saturday's show was a huge success. The largest crowd TXW has had at the South Knoxville Family Rec Center witnessed many titles changes, bloody kendo stick shots, a $999 pair of blue alligator shoes, an amazing triple threat match for the Heavyweight Championship, a Mexican Hat Dance, the return of the Death Row Inmates, the 4th member of Ruff Cutt being revealed, a 300 lb man doing a Swanton Bomb on the Honky Tonk Man's illegitimate son, and a street fight to end all street fights.

1) TXW Youtube Television Championship
Bobwyre tied to pull out all the stops against the Super Cruiserweight, even confusing Billy Marshall with a Mexican Hat Dance, and landing a DDT which made it look like lightning was gonna strike twice for the second fight in a row. But Funkmaster V distracted the referee before Bobwyre could make a cover. Bobwyre disposed of Funkmaster V, but turned around and walked into Billy's grasp. Two Crash Diets and a chokeslam later, the commissioner Billy made the 1...2...3 to regain his title.
Billy Marshall pins Bobwyre (c) to regain the Youtube TV Championship

After the match, Funkmaster V pleaded with Billy to let him join his idols in Ruff Cutt, stating that the faction has been turned down by Jerry Lee, Chris Cameron, and Bob O Mac. Billy tripped Funkmaster V and left the ring, but Funk just laughed it off and blamed the trip on sorry ring construction.

2) Juggalo Drake reappeared with his new look, song, and name (Masquerade) to face the man(?) that took the Juggalo name from him, his old high school friend: Demetria. This match featured many high impact moves, and when Demetria appeared to be at the bad end of a Spinebuster, his manager Monroe Fayte entered the ring, again with a Kendo Stick. Masquerade threw her to the ground and pummeled a bloody Demetria with the stick to the oohs and ahhs of the crowd.
Masquerade defeated Demetria by DQ

3) The Mothership with Funkmaster V
Funkmaster V pleaded with Ruff Cutt to let him join the stable, complimenting Mike Powers’ shiny head, Jody Rivers natural physique, and Billy's power. He convinced them to let him try to defeat Billy for the TXW Youtube Television Title to fit in with the champions, and after a sweaty envelope full of cash was exchanged, Billy allowed Funkmaster V to pin him for the 1...2...3 without a fight and awarded him the belt. Ruff Cutt then announced Funkmaster V as the new Youtube TV Champion, but not the 4th member of Ruff Cutt, and proceeded to beat him with a belt and his brand new blue alligator shoes.
Funkmaster V pinned Billy Marshall (c) to win the TXW Youtube Television Championship after a bribe

4) The Death Row Inmates had their first match together at TXW since June of last year, and took on the tag team of seasoned tag team wrestler Chris Dalton of the Outlaws and an upstart Tyler Tate. The crowd was split on who to cheer for, but after some high impact moves, Death Row left with an impressive win... Ruff Cutt take note!
Death Row Inmates defeated Chris Dalton & Tyler Tate via pinfall

5) The crowd loved the next match between a returning Dave "The Science" Pillman and the Honky Tonk Man's illegitimate son, Honky Tonk Matt. Honky Tonk Matt shook and shimmied for the crowd, but he couldn't do his father proud as Pillman landed a Swanton Bomb to silence Matt and the roaring crowd.
Dave "The Science" Pillman defeated Honky Tonk Matt via pinfall

6) TXW Heavyweight Championship 3-Way
Chris Cameron looked to defend his championship in the first ever 3 way for the TXW Heavyweight Championship. Jerry Lee was nursing an injured shoulder, and had his hands full with Billy Marshall and Cameron who could be joining Ruff Cutt very soon. The action was hot, heavy, and went back and forth. Though Jerry was injured, he landed his feared Powerslam on Chris Cameron, but before he could win the title back, Billy Marshall pinned Cameron for the 1...2...3 as Jerry was distracted by Mike Powers and Jody Rivers of Ruff Cutt.
Billy Marshall defeated Chris Cameron (c) & Jerry Lee for the title via pinfall

7) TXW Tag Team Championship- Street Fight
The crowd was red hot for this match, which saw the Tag Team Champions Ruff Cutt defend their titles against the newly named "Bob Squad" (Bobby Blassie and Bob O Mac). The street fight rules were implemented almost immediately, as the tag teams tore up the South Knox Family Rec Center . Billy Marshall was banned from ringside in this one, and it looked like The Bob Squad was on the verge of victory after a Bob O Mac superkick energized the crowd and Bobby Blassie landed his flying elbow. Mike Powers even got a strip of his back hair ripped off with the duct tape he used earlier in the match. But oddly enough, Robbie Race distracted the ref as double sunset flips were put on Ruff Cutt, and the new TXW Heavyweight Champion, Billy Marshall arrived to double chokeslam the challengers. Ruff Cutt made the pin and retained.
Ruff Cutt (c) retained after pinning the Bob Squad (Race-Marshall inter.)

Robbie Race took his hoodie off to reveal a Ruff Cutt T-shirt underneath, leading many to believe that he is the 4th member of Team Ruff Cutt. Chris Cameron hit the ring with a chair and announced that next month, May 2nd 2009, same place-same time, Team Ruff Cutt (Marshall, Powers, Rivers, and Race) were going to take on himself, Jerry Lee, and the Bob Squad to bury the hatchet. And of course it was left up to the man with too much power, the Commish & Heavyweight Champion, Billy Marshall, to agree. Surprisingly enough, he did with no strings attached.

----I am not sure how good the workrate is for this group, but I have always put them over for their youtube title. But, any group that features Honky Tonk Man's illegitimate son, blue alligator shoes, a Mexican Hat Dance and a team that is called "Bob Squad" is over with me. LOL

RassleResults: RWA Jonesboro, AR 3.28.09 - Reno Diamond and Mike Anthony Turn!!

1. J.D. Kerry VS The Natural Born Playa'z: Winner Playa'z
2. Lucky VS Bull: Winner Bull
3. CCR VS Irish Dragons: Winners CCR
4. Ron Rage VS Precious: Winner Ron Rage
5. Cujo VS The Tejano Kid: Winner Cujo
6. Gary Diamond and Reno Diamond [pictured] VS The Allen Brothers: Winner Gary and Reno Diamond
7. PokerfaceVS Blalok: Winner Blalok the Blazer
8. CCR VS Playa'z: Winner CCR
9. Austin Lane VS RWA Heavyweight Champion Rodney "Bad Dogg" Mack: Winner. Rodney Mack.

The Show started with Owner Frank Martin coming out and announcing that the RWA will soon have a new Heavyweight belt and the current belt will become the TV championship Belt. Also the semi finals of the RWA tag team tournament would be that Saturday night. Martin then told the fans that they wanted to make sure they did not miss one Saturday night because coming soon to the RWA is Flash Flanagan.

J.D. Kerry had to take on the “Playa'z” [Southside Brawler/Pimptacular] in a handicap match because his partner Mike Titan was not at the show leaving his partner alone in the tag team tournament. The Playa'z took advantage of this and really wore the young Kerry out and got the win to advance in the tournament.

The new comer to the RWA Bull the Manimal used his size and strength and beat Lucky. Lucky is no longer a part of the Leprechauns as his brother Lethal is no longer in the RWA.

CCR and The Irish Dragons had a tournament match. CCR surprised the Dragons and got the three count on them.

Precious came out and did a very good mic spill. He told the fans that he wanted Soul Train Jones. To make sure he got what he wanted he made the challenge to Soul Train and made the match a loser leaves town. Knowing Soul Train the way this reporter does, Soul Train will not back down from this fight. Precious made the comment of the ring being his, this is when Ron Rage the leader of the POB came to the ring. The two squared off and the fight began. Precious won the match by DQ as Rage loaded his elbow pad and used it on Precious. Then another new comer hit the ring his name is Stretch. Rage made short work of him, then got the mic and told the fans that he was putting down every member of the Dog pound. Rage told the fans he had put out Rick Ruby and along with him goes his wife and kid Drew "Pup" Porter. At this point Rodney Mack hit the ring and cleared it of Rage. Mack told Rage he was tired of all the under handed tricks to get The Dogg Pound Members. Mack told Rage he didn’t care where or when but he wanted him in a match. Then Mack went on to challenge Rage to a parking lot match. They will circle the cars in the parking lot and fight in the middle of them. The match was signed that night.

Cujo and Tejano had a very good match. Tejano came out and told the fans that there was not a man or woman that could beat him. Tejano then challenged anyone in the back, Cujo answered the challenge. This was a very good match with Tejano showing the best way to attack a big man is to attack his knees. When you get a big man off his feet his power is then limited. Tejano made on mistake and Cujo got a choke slam on Tejano and got the 3 count.

Gary Diamond and Reno Diamond had a great match with the younger Allen Brothers with Pimp Rickey by their sides. Gary and Reno used their experience to get the 3 count and after that the Allen boys attacked them from behind. Reno chased the Allens back to the dressing room and that's when the masked man who has been attacking Diamond and Austin Lane hit the ring. He busted Gary Diamond open with a chair and revealed himself to Diamond and the fans. It was Mike Austin. He wants Diamond and Lane out of the business.

Pokerfaceand Blalok The Blazer had a last man standing match. It was a very physical match that went all over the building. They used crutches and wet floor signs Duck Tape and a golf club and baseball. At one point Poker placed the baseball between the legs of Blalok and teed off with he golf club. Blalok threw fire in the face of Poker and Poker had poured water on his face right before so it had no effect. Tejano hit the ring and nailed Poker Face, that's when Mike Anthony hit the ring and took out Tejano. The whole time Poker had Duck taped Blalok to the ring post. Then Mike Anthony shocked the fans and hit Pokerface with a chair and knocked him out and busted Poker open. He set Blalok free and held him up as the Ref made the 10 count on Poker. When Poker came to he was not happy and told Anthony he would get his hands on him real soon.

CCR had a great match with the Playa'z. CCR is the favorite and really work well together. The Playa'z under estimated CCR and CCR got a double roll up for the pin. These two teams will meet this Saturday in a 2 out of 3 falls match for the titles.

Rodney Mack and Austin Lane had a good match and much to the delight of the fans Austin kept up with Mack the whole time. Mack hit his spear and got the 3 count. Mack left the ring and when Austin got to his feet Mike Austin came out and asked Lane if he thought he had forgot about him? At this point another masked man came to the ring behind Austin and hit him with a chair busting him open. The Masked man took off the mask and you could have knocked over the fans with a feather. The second Masked man was Reno Diamond. Wow no one saw this coming and this left Austin Lane and Gary Diamond alone as a team.

There was 200+ in the building and the fans were hot and got 3 hours of great wrestling action. This group is really telling their stories in the ring and with the TV coverage this group is branching out. The RWA will be in Harrisburg this Friday night and then Saturday night back to Jonesboro. In two weeks they will be back in Harrisburg on Friday then again in Jonesboro and then Sunday evening in Newport. Look for the RWA to come to a town near you in the future.

----I was surprised to see two turns on one show, but it probably really surprised the crowd - especially Reno under the hood.

More Wrestlicious!!!

Lawler On Raw!!

----I got a note from someone last night that said, "Lawler looked horrible tonight" talking about his match with Jericho. I just finished watching it and didn't think he looked bad at all. For a guy that is 59 years old - I think he did a damn good job.

VOICE YOUR OPINION ON THE KAYFABE MESSAGE BOARD ABOUT THE LAWLER MATCH!!

DCW Marc Indentified!!

----When asking about “Mark” Anthony on the DCW show, I was just wondering if it was Marc from SAW or Mike Anthony from RWA?? But, I did receive a note from Trent Van Drisse that said, “He's one of the main guys in SAW right now, so I'm guessing you might have seen him on some SAW TV. Does a "crazy" gimmick, right now aligned with Raven going against Gary Valiant.” Trent also noted that he has worked Puerto Rico and has appeared on his radio show last year. Anthony also works with Flash Flanagan and Derrick King at SAW, so that is why we probably seen him at DCW.

RassleResults: TFW Fulton, MS 3.28.09

Results from the Benefit for Lucy Mae Terrell 3/28/09 in Fulton:

Neil Taylor started the show by coming to the ring, talking trash to the fans saying that they ought to be praising him, because he was King of Mississippi and he was ready to put it on the line to anyone that dared challenge him. The TFW promoter "Mama" Denise Blaylock told him that not only has she got his challenger, but she was going to get the fans involved by making it a leather strap match. They paid $5 to get a strap. The challenger was Josh Holly. The match was set.

Hittman def. the Backflip Machine LSD.

Next Dirty Rell Moe came to the ring to thank everyone for their contribution to the benefit. He began to talk about how he and Curlymoe got started in the business. He said that being voted as 2008 Manager of the Year was an honor. He was then interrupted by Tony " the Weasel" Watts. Watts then asked who Dirty was and went on about how he didn't deserve to be Manager of the Year and told a tiresome story about everyone he has managed. Dirty finally told him that he had no business sticking his "nose" (no pun intended) in his business and began to have Watts escorted out. But Watts then attacked Dirty, but Dirty retaliated on him. Tony Dabbs, Chris Styles and Josh Matthews ran into the ring and began to beat down Dirty. Curlymoe, Chris Kilgore, and Buff Bagwell then ran to the ring and ran them out of the ring. Buff then told Watts to get his boys ready for a match with them. Watts said only if Dirty is handcuffed to him. Dirty and Curlymoe proudly accepted and the match was set.

Pain, Inc. def. DC and Chop top the Clown with Izzy getting the pin on DC.

Bebe and Dagger got the win on Delectable Devon, Delicious Damion, Chis Chaos, and Jay Webster with Bebe getting the pin on Devon.

G-Moe Money w/Dirty makes his return to Mississippi getting the pin on Phat Foundation member "Big Daddy" Neno.

The Semi Main Event was of course Neil Taylor vs Josh Holley in a leather strap match for the title of King of Mississippi. The fans "whipped" Neil Taylor but not one touched Josh. Neil would retain his title as King of Mississippi as he defeats Josh Holley.

Main Event was "Tha Stunt" Curlymoe, "Southern Thunder" Chris Kilgore, and Buff "The Stuff" Bagwell w/ Dirty Rell Moe vs "Bad Attitude" Tony Dabbs, "The Future" Chris Styles, and "The Angelic" Josh Matthews w/ Tony Watts. Dirty and Watts was cuffed together. Buff dominated in the beginning, with Kilgore and Curlymoe getting some great shots on them. But Curlymoe would eventually get over taken by the Watts team. Curlymoe would hit the Vertical Spat and get the tag to Buff. While Dirty's team had Watts team in the corners beating them with series of punches and kicks, Watts hit Dirty in the face with powder. He gets free from the cuffs, but it was to late. Dirty's team shot Watts team into each other and Dirty's team win with triple schoolboys. Dirty then beat on Watts, sending him into the ring and Curlymoe hits him with the Stunner.

The fans enjoyed the show and were not let down. There were at least 3 main event caliber matches. The show raised $1947.00. Curlymoe, Dirty Rell Moe, and Lucy Mae Terrell would like to thank everyone for their contributions, donations, calls, and prayers, which made this possible.

Attendance approx. 225.

DCW Spring BreakOut Scramble March 28th 2009

The show opened with the “5 Starr” Showcase with Dustin talking about who was to blame for the abduction of Angelina he said it was not Jimmy Tidwell’s fault but that it was someone he trusted and that was DK which prompted DK to come out and DK proceeded to tell Dustin he did what he said and that was he beat the Vampire 123 in that ring. And that if anyone was to blame for Angelina's [pictured above with Malkavain] abduction it was Kilo. So they issued a Challenge to Kilo for a tag match later on...DK and 5 Starr vs Kilo and a partner of his choice.

1st Match was a tag match featuring Shannon Lee and Justin the Juice Smart vs Tim Edwards and his new tag partner Big Red...The match was ok with Tim and Red keeping the heat on Shannon Lee and keeping Justin out of the match. Finally Shannon got the hot tag and Justin came in firing away but the met the Big boot of Big Red as Big red was setting up for the chokeslam Justin got away and hit Red with 2 dropkicks and then out of nowhere Weezy and Rockin Randy hit the ring causing Tim and Red to get DQ'd...And this didn’t sit too well with Tim & Red so they challenged Randy and Weezy to a tag match to decide the DCW tag champs at Spring Breakout.

2nd match saw Mark Anthony vs Chris Rocker still injured from last week with his shoulder taped up. This was one of the best matches of the night with Mark working the shoulder of Rocker for the most part of the match and with Rocker hitting the frog splash from out of nowhere to get the win. After the match Bishop and Rashard hit the ring and double teamed on injured Rocker and Rashard got on the mic and challenged Rocker to a match for later on in the night this whole segment got over real well and the heat stayed where it was supposed to in the ring on Rocker.

Next the original NXN Rude and Tully came to the ring and had a little comedy but also accepted the match with the BLS for Spring Breakout. Nice pop.

Next match was Flash Flanagan vs Seth Knight. if Seth lost he was to leave DCW and Allen Walker was barred from ringside well Allen was not at ringside but instead he made himself the special guest ref. This match had great psychology and the fans were into the match with Allen reffing Seth couldn’t do anything every time Seth tried to make a comeback Walker was there to stop him or block his punch. Seth and the fans were getting angry even to the point that Seth was fixing to hit Allen but didn’t because he didn’t to get DQ'd and have to leave DCW but the finish saw Allen holding Seth and Flash charging but Seth broke free and Flash knocked Allen out and lash with his finisher but no ref to make the count and as Seth was trying to get Allen up Flash went to nail him with the kendo stick and Seth blocked and hit him again with his finisher and out came William Gibson to make the 123 and Seth won the match and got the biggest Pop of the night.

Next match was Rashard Devon vs Chris Rocker...good pop good story...Bishop and Rashard brought handcuffs to the ring. Somehow Rocker got a hold of the handcuffs and handcuffed Bishop to the ropes that let him to have a few minutes alone with Rashard while Bishop was handcuffed to the ropes. Rocker stripped Rashard off his pants revealing a BIG Brown dookie stain in his tighty whites. The Randy and Weezy came out with the key and unlocked Bishop while Rocker was whipping Rashard with a belt. Bishop ran in and cut Rocker off they were double teaming Rocker working on the shoulder when Coco left the stand to come help rocker and got a few licks in on Rashard until Bishop hit him and then they tazed him and they left them laying good match great crowd reaction.

Next Flash came out and challenged Flex to a match for Spring Breakout.
Main event Dustin Starr and Derrick King vs Kilo and “Baron” Malkavain....The match was good even though Dustin could not concentrate on the match cause he was trying to get Angelina's attention he was crying and whining the whole match. The finish being that Baron hit his finisher and got the 123. Aftermath was then tied Kilo in the ropes and put baron in the coffin and grabbed Angelina and was talking to her and Dustin asked for a kiss and instead got a big slap in the face from her crowd went nuts. Kilo and Baron got back into ring and cleared it out but not without Dustin challenging the vampire to a Casket match at Spring Breakout and DK vs Kilo at Spring Breakout....wow what a night crowd was really into the show Spring Breakout is turning out to be a big night and more announcements next week.

Crowd was in the 120-140 range.

----Who is Mark Anthony??...I know that thing with Rashard probably got a good pop, but I have never understood that?? Why do babyfaces want to take heel managers’ pants off??

RassleResults: NBW Newbern, TN 3.28.09

Show opened with XOW coming to the ring. Sarge O’Reilly put over the fact that Bill Dundee would be at Spring Break-Out facing him.

NBW High Risk Champion Brandon Barbwire defeated Kilo after Jason the Brain interfered pushing Kilo from the top rope and Brandon delivered a Rock Bottom variation.

Norrin Radd defeated Christian Morrikami after a Gore.

Jon Michael defeated Suicide after a big boot and a top rope elbow drop.

Ricky Andrews defeated Bonecrusher after a fameaser.
After the match, Tank ran out and blasted Andrews in the back with a huge log chain. Tank began beating and choking Andrews with the chain then got the mic. Tank told Andrews that the only way he lasted the 5 minutes in the Triple 5 Challenge is because he was a chickenshit and kept running away from him instead of staying in the ring and facing him like a man. Tank challenged Andrews to a Dog Collar Match at Spring Break-Out and Jeff McDonald agreed to sign the match.

Synn, Stunner and Jason the Brain came to the ring for a match. Tommy Redneck came to the ring and wanted to know what they did to Biscuits car because now he wouldn’t be able to be there. Needless to say, a handicapped match was made.
1/2 of the NBW Tag-Team Champions Tommy Redneck defeated XOW Tag-Team Champions Synn & Stunner.
Synn was going to a Sliced Bread #2 on Redneck as Stunner was perched on the top rope in the opposite corner. Redneck countered the Sliced Bread and delivered a slingshot back suplex in turn crotching Stunner on the top turnbuckle unable to break up the count.

Jeff McDonald then made another match for Spring Break-Out. It would be a winner take all match with both sets of Tag Tiles being on the line.

NBW Heavyweight Champion "Enforcer" Mark Justice defeated Chad Hart with a Hard Justice

"Upset Kid" Jeremy Moore defeated Sarge by DQ when all of XOW ran out and jumped him.
The NBW locker room emptied to face XOW. After the 2 factions were broken up, Jeff decided to re-work the main event of Spring Break-Out. It would now be the team of Sarge & Brandon Barbwire facing the team of Jeremy Moore & "Superstar" Bill Dundee.

Notes: 110 + in the building and they were VERY hot!
2 near riots from the fans. The first one being after Tank attacked Ricky with the chain. There were a couple of fans that crossed the barricade trying to get to Tank who was by this time on the outside of the ring. Security held them back and made them take their seats. The 2nd one came whe XOW attacked Jeremy. Several fans were trying to get across the barricade and get to the ring and had to be restrained. Very Hot Crowd. Largest and Hottest in recent memory for NBW.

RassleResults: ASWF Tuckerman, AR 3.28.09

Just like every Saturday night, Rickey Rowland would bring out our nations flag for the playing of our national anthem followed by a 10 Bell Salute to the father of ASWF’s McDaddy and Father-in-law of Johnny Harper.

After that was as said and done just as McDaddy was leaving the ring to go to the back Judgment would interrupt and start bad mouthing McDaddy. Well this wouldn’t last for long as McDaddy would open up a case on Judgment. He would then roll him up for a pin and get a 1, 2, 3 from Ricky Rowland.

Just as the first match was about to start a familiar song would start playing. After a two week absence Commissioner T-Bone Terrence Ward would return to the announcing table. The Commissioner would tell Ricky that our normal referee was absent and he would be filling in as the referee for the evening.

1st Match: Battle Royal
This match really lived up to its name. An action packed, adrenaline fueled, thrill ride of a match. All would stand tall in this match putting on a great effort. However at the end Idol Bane would eliminate Cody Murdoch for the win.

2nd Match: One Fall
Jamie Jay vs. Johnny Morton
Jamie Jay is a name that everyone in the Mid-South has surely heard of. He would make his return to the ASWF to take on Johnny Morton. Morton would fall short and give Jamie Jay would take home the victory.

3rd Match: ASWF Tag Team Title Match
Danger Zone (John Ellison/David Cox) vs. Johnny Hawk/Caleb King
This match would be long and grueling as neither side wanted to give an inch. With the titles being on the line, who would give and inch? Both teams fought until they could not compete any more. Johnny Hawk and Caleb King would walk away victorious.

4th Match: One Fall
Tommy Wayne vs. “Mr. Muscle” Morgan Williams with Athena Eclipse
A match filled with momentum. At the end of the match Morgan Williams would execute the muscle cutter on Tommy Wayne, but to his surprise Wayne would kick out before the three. And with a little motivation from the fans Tommy Wayne would make a huge comeback and win the match.

5th Match: Handicap Tag Team Match
“Outlaw” Don Bass/Hollywood Jimmy Blaylock/Rodney Grimes vs. Casino/Demon X
If you were to categorize this match it would have been part comedy and part action. Casino and Demon X would give Jimmy Blaylock and Don Bass exactly what they deserved. After an amazing double roll up pin by Casino and Demon X they would get the 1, 2, 3 and go on to enforce the stipulations of the match. Casino would handcuff Don Bass to the ropes. They would make Hollywood Jimmy wear a pig mask and salute the Arkansas Razorback flag. Then they would put “Mega Man” Rodney Grimes in a red dress.

6th Match: One Fall
Ray Ray [pictured] vs. X-Kaliber
Before Ray’s music would come to an end he was already into the ring. The referee had a hard time controlling the match due to the pent up anger in between these two superstars. X would win by submission. Ray would pass out and lose the match.
