Jerry Lawler Gives Title to Yankees!!

--Since it got around that the New York Yankees were passing around a replica WWE title belt to the player of the game this year after every win, Jerry Lawler just gave an official real-life WWE title belt to CC Sabathia, who Lawler knows. This was in today's New York Daily News. WWE has gotten far more pub for that than TNA got when the White Sox gave a belt to the player of the game a couple of years ago. (thanks to Joe Puccio)

Misawa Passes Away!! June 18, 1962 - June 13, 2009

----Many of you that listen to RRO radio or talk to me personally know that Japanese wrestling use to be a weekly ritual for me. I would trade VHS tapes of Memphis Wrestling all over the world, so I could get to see the weekly Japanese programs. Even though I never learned any of the language it was always a treat to watch guys like Kenta Kobashi, Stan Hansen, Big Van Vader and one of my favorite was Mitsuharu Misawa. I was a big Tiger Mask fan and Misawa was the second guy to wear the mask. Later after he unmasked I continued to follow his career up until the late 90s, when my interest in Japanese wrestling died about the time Giant Baba died. If you are also a fan of Japanese wrestling video games or some of the US games that were made over there - you are familiar with his forearms and "Emerald Frosion" finisher. Below I posted a Tribute video and on RROTV I have posted one of the greatest matches you will ever see featuring Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada. This is one of the few matches that Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has ever given [*****] - 5 stars, since starting his newsletter in in the late eighties. Misawa also won WON Wrestler of Year award three times - 1995, 1997 and 1999. RIP!!

MISAWA PASSES AWAY AFTER BACKDROP IN HIROSHIMA MATCH

Mitsuharu Misawa, one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all-time, was declared dead at 10:10 p.m. Saturday night at a hospital in Hiroshima from an apparent heart attack after being being given a back suplex in a tag team title match.

Misawa would have turned 47 on June 18th.

Misawa, the president of Pro Wrestling NOAH, was teaming with Go Shiozaki in a match challenging Bison Smith & Akitoshi Saito for the GHC tag team championship in Hiroshima. Misawa was given the move at about 8:45 p.m. and knocked unconscious. They were about 27 minutes into the match when the referee immediately stopped the match seeing what had happened.

According to eye witness reports, Saito gave Misawa a "routine" back suplex that was described as a "7" in danger on a scale of one-to-ten. He did not get up. It was chaos in the ring as they attempted to revive him using CPR and the crowd was hushed for a while, and began a "Misawa" chant. He turned purple in the ring and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

His heart stopped beating in the ring.

The wrestlers were told on the bus that he had passed away.
While it is being reported that he passed away at the hospital, he may have actually passed away in the ring.

Misawa was the Japanese high school national wrestling champion at 187 pounds in 1980, and was recruited by Giant Baba into All Japan Pro Wrestling. He gained his first taste of stardom in 1984 when he was chosen to be the second Tiger Mask. After unmasking in 1990, he became an even bigger star after a series of singles matches with Jumbo Tsuruta.

He was Japan's biggest pro wrestling star of the 90s, and one could make a strong case for him as the top wrestler of the decade. He was the Wrestler of the Year in 1995, 1997 and 1999.

After the death of Shohei "Giant" Baba, Misawa wrestled a little over one more year for All Japan Pro Wrestling, while working as company president. After consistently butting heads with owner Motoko Baba, the widow of Shohei Baba, he and 90% of the All Japan roster quit the company to form Pro Wrestling NOAH.

The movie "The Wrestler" opened tonight in Japan. Because of the finish of the movie, this has become part of the story in some outlets in Japan.

Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer reported on their daily radio show this morning that it appears Misawa died of a heart attack.

--Given the final scene in the movie, it's now become one of those really eerie deals because today was the opening of the movie "The Wrestler" in Japan, and they advertised the movie heavily on the NOAH cable shows. Also, it was announced that Budokan Hall will be one of the venues in the upcoming Beatles: Rock Band video, because the band played there in 1966.

--The Misawa death is the top story in both Yahoo Japan and the Google Japan news

DUSTIN STARR HEADED TO NBW??

----I was in Dyersburg, TN yesterday at "Hastings". They had a NBW poster with a picture of Dustin Starr on it with something like "Will Dustin Starr show up at NBW??" That was the first I have heard about it, but it would be a good shot in the arm for NBW to add him.

I would like to encourage everyone to come out Sunday and help Tank's family!! Show starts at 3:00 PM and RRO will be there to help!!

Coach's Corner : "Let's Talk about WWE workouts, ECW and Jerry "the King" Lawler!!"

----The WWE is wrestling here in the United States. We do not cover them on a regular basis, because the main focus of RRO is the Memphis area. When we see people getting opportunity or people that regularly work the promotion in this area it usually means something. They are the top dog and the command that respect. Even though I love to talk about local wrestling, I had to mix the WWE in there for this edition. Let’s talk about WWE workouts, ECW and Jerry “the King” Lawler.

----After the appearance of Dustin Starr on ECW, we did see a few snide remarks on various message boards, but overall I would consider it a positive appearance and positive story for this area. The main thing that Starr along with Kid Nikels and Eric Wayne got to do was the workout before the matches in front of the WWE guys to decide whether you can get a job or not. They give advice on what to do with your body, your skills and anything else. That got me to thinking about what other guys do I think should get an opportunity like this and who would shine?? I would love to see Stan Lee and “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony get a chance to do this. Lee has had more opportunities than TGB in working Puerto Rico and such. Lee could shine with his flashy moves and his knowledge of the fundamentals. Anthony might be an odd choice to some and Starr will probably giving me heat on The Starr Treatment, but he is one of the best workers of the area. In the WWE world of size, tans and in shape, a Dustin Starr will get a major look over lots. TGB deserves a workout with the WWE guys getting a look at him. He would show them his talent and work ethic. Also, if they would give him chance to do interviews – he is the very best in this area with Starr just behind him. Would the WWE have a job for a guy with TGB’s talent and look?? Even Jamie Noble has taken a great job backstage and TGB would be a guy that could do things like that. My vote would be to get Starr another look and let the WWE see Lee and TGB.

----I usually watch Law & Order : SUV [the perverts one] and Rescue Me in the ECW time slot. The season is over for L&O, so I am able to TIVO ECW. I have really enjoyed the show the last two weeks. Starr being on the show had me record the first show and then I went on to record it for another week. The Tommy Dreamer storyline was fun. Everyone thought he was going to lose – he was even swerving his closest friends telling them he was done with the WWE. Christian is the man though. Christian has probably had more good matches on TV than anyone in the last few years. His TNA stuff was top notch - he always worked real hard. While everyone praises AJ Styles and emulates him, area workers should strive to be like Christian. His singles match with Tyson Kidd was top notch to the point that I even seen comments about how great Kidd is. He is good, but they forgot who he was working. This week The Hart Dynasty worked against Jack Swagger/Christian. Another good bout and just some really smart stuff with Christian. Christian went for the hot tag and instead just pushed Swagger [selling they were against each other even though they were tagging] and then it was like it was a hot tag for Christian. He made a big comeback, then a cutoff with him getting beat because of Swagger. So if Christian isn’t the best worker in the WWE, who is?? Edge?? Chris Jericho?? Rey Mysterio?? Randy Orton?? I don’t really think Orton is in their class, but is a decent worker with a great look. Edge, Jericho and Mysterio could probably have just as good or better matches than Christian on a given night. But, I will take a Christian match over anyone right now.

----So two of the biggest shows of 2009 are coming up and they finished as two of the biggest shows of last year. “Thunder on the River” [ranked #5 - 2008] and ASWF’s Batesville [ranked #2 - 2008] show. Since the start of this site there has been an argument about whether Jerry Lawler is still “The King”?? When it comes to the major shows it is always his name on the show. He appeared on seven of the 25 listed last year. I made notes about him being one of my picks for Wrestler of the Year because of all the Bert Prentice shows drawing good crowds this year. It seems they have quit doing those shows and Lawler will probably finish the show with the big shows in area. Will they draw for their big Fourth of July show?? Is there going to be “Forth in the Forest” [#1 last year] to compete with them?? I have not even heard about that show this year?? Why does Bill Dundee, who I would easily consider a better worker overall than Lawler, not draw as good as a crowd?? Lawler’s WWE exposure keeps him hotter. It doesn’t matter if he is announcing or jobbing, Lawler will help the local shows. His name does not mean the same as it did in the summer of 1974 when he helped Memphis Wrestling draw over 10,000 fans eleven weeks in a row, but it does mean usually over the 300 range and that is good in this day and age. [Sad; huh??] I think some of the local promotions might miss out on promoting him as a WWE superstar, instead a Memphis legend. Fans watch WWE and as you can tell by the ratings, no one is watching Memphis TV. Lawler still the “The King”?? Yeah for the moment he is.

RassleResults: RWA Jonesboro, AR 6.06.09 - Midnight Gold New Tag Champs!!

Midnight Gold is the new RWA Tag Team Champs.

Match 1 Kid Krazy vs Buzzkill of the POB Winner Buzkill
Match 2 Roger Allen vs Poker Face. Winner Poker Face
Match 3 John Allen vs J.D.Kerry. Winner J.D Kerry
Match 4 Mike Austin vs Gary Diamond. Winner Gary Diamond
Match 5 Rage RWA Heavyweight Champion vs Logan Fury. Winner Rage.
Match 6 Main event, Midnight Gold, Beautiful Bobby Eaton Gold Boy Greg Anthony vs The Natural Born Playa'z the RWA Tag Team Champions Winner and New RWA Tag Team Champions. Midnight Gold.

The show this week started with Frank Big Money Martin coming to the ring with Mike Austin and Ron Rage. Martin told the crowd that he promised them great wrestlers in the RWA and keeping his promise Midnight Gold was in the house to deliver the Tag Belts to Money Inc. At this point he started his tv program Money Talks and introduced the fans to Bud Schroupell the host of ESPN Radio 970 “On the Front Row with Budro”. Budro came to the ring but would not get into the ring because of Money Inc being in the ring. Martin asked the guys to go into the back and leave them alone. Bud then got in the ring and Martin explained that the last time Budro was there he had an altercation with a RWA worker and broadcaster Greg Russell. Martin explained to Budro that he did what he had to do and defused the situation by getting Budro out of the building. Martin put Budro over real well and really talked up the radio show. Then told Budro he listens to the show and heard him ask for a match with Greg Russell. Martin said ok if you want a match with Russell you got one. At this point a large masked man came to the ring. This guy was close to 7 foot. Picked up Budro slammed him and dropped several big elbows and then hit Budro a couple times in the head. Budro was out and Martin called out Greg Russell and Russell came to the ring and covered Budro and won the match. Martin then surprised Russell with a small belt similar to the Heavyweight Belt. Martin called him the Broadcasting Champion, then told the crowd when Midnight Gold wins the tag belts then Big Money Inc will have all the gold.

The first match saw the return of Buzzkill of the POB taking on Kid Krazy. Kid can really fly and Buzzkill just took his time and when the time was right and he got his hands of Krazy, Buzzkill used his size and strength to his advantage and took out Krazy to get the win.

Second match was Pokerface and one of the young Allen Bros. This was a good match because they are similar in size and strength. Poker does have the experience on his side. The Allen Bro's are really getting good training in the Dogg Pound. Poker kept on the younger Allen and these two gave the crowd a good wrestling match. Poker face came away with the win but it won't be long before the Allen Bro's are taking home win's and gold.

Next was the match I was really looking forward to. J.D. Kerry and one of the Allen Bros. I was not disappointed either and neither were the fans. Kerry is great and is the future of Professional Wrestling. The Allen Bro's are right behind him and actually was in control and Kerry in a bad way. The Allen's are still making rookie mistakes like arguing with the ref. This time Kerry rolled him up and got the 3 count for the win.

The fourth match was the Big Money match. Mr Hardcore Mike Austin took on Gary Diamond, now these two have had some brutal matches over the past few months, not tonight it’s about wrestling and grabbing the money. These two went after each other from the start and showed the crowd that they both can wrestle. Austin had Big Money there at ring side and seemed to have the match in control but things are not always' what they seem. Gary Diamond has a heart the size of Texas and showed it in this match. There were several times the bag was in the grasp of both Austin and Diamond. Diamond hit his Diamond Cutter and was able to climb the ropes and get the cash. But when he opened the bag it was all fake money. Should have seen this one coming and Martin made a point to tell Diamond. "Did you really think I would put 5 thousand dollars in a bag and give you the chance to win?" " If you did you are as stupid as the fans are and further more if you need the money Diamond you can wash and wax some of my cars!"

The fifth match was kind a strange, it had Rage the RWA Heavyweight Champion being challenged by Logan Fury of the Irish Dragons. Scot Fury was in the corner of Logan and Big Money and Raven was in Rage's corner. Some big right hands were thrown in this match and Scot Fury injected his self into the match on several occasions. Good solid match for Logan and Logan did say when he came out for the match that he was really looking for The Mexican Assassin and the TV belt. Each wrestler hit some good solid moves and they were quite liberal with the fist's and choke holds. The ref really had a hard time keeping it under control and the Dragons did use the 2 on 1 to their advantage and quite often. But the last time back fired and Scot hit Logan and spun him into a loaded arm pad from Rage. Rage got the win and kept his belt and there seems to be some problems with the Dragons.

The Main Event had the RWA Tag Champions The Natural Born Playa'z defending the belts against Midnight Gold. Playa'z had The Southside Brawler and Mr. Pimptacular defending the belts against The Golden Boy Greg Anthony and Beautiful Bobby Eaton. There is no question when you talk about Tag teams and who is the best The Midnight Express with Jim Cornette was one of the greatest of all time. Bobby Eaton was half of the Express and is in fact one of the greatest Tag Team partners of all time. First time I got to see Greg Anthony work and he is also a great worker. Now the Playa'z are no slouches in the ring they have beaten everyone and they both can fight or wrestle. But the advantage goes to the Midnight Gold team because of the greatest young master mind in the business today, Brian Thompson. The Playa'z held their ground and gave the Midnight Gold team a run for their money. In the end Greg Anthony had a chair and hit Southside in the back of the head as Southside had a cover on Eaton. Anthony rolled Eaton over on Southside. The ref was trying to break up the fight on the outside between Thompson and Pimptacular. The ref saw the cover and made the 3 count and we have NEW RWA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!! Midnight Gold Martin came out and presented the belts to the team and then asked the Playa'z were is the loyal Rodney Mack? Oh yeah he had a big show to do and left you here alone to lose your belts. I told you I would have all the gold in Money Inc and now I have.

Good crowd on hand 150+ and I have been told that the Midnight Gold team will be a regular group in the RWA which is a great addition to the roster.

Memphis Wrestling TV Ratings and Show Notes 5.30 & 6.06.09 - Ratings Strike Out and Homerun with the same show!!

----Memphis Wrestling aired the same show two weeks in row and had two total different results. The first airing of the show at an overall average of 1620 viewers!! It had two quarters that did not even meter and then the last quarter had some people turn it back on. Overall it was a disaster and if advertisers get REAL numbers, then it is hard to decide to advertise for a show that jumps so up and down.

----Now this past Saturday they aired the same show and hit a homerun. This was not their biggest number of the year, but the semantics of the show were almost perfect. It started at 1.5 and added 4859 viewers per quarter ending with a 1.9 quarter watching the Dundee/Lawler bout. Look at the “What was Memphis watching?” number and see that Memphis Wrestling actually won their time slot this week!! I cannot remember this ever happening since the start of this site??

----So what does all this mean?? Hell I would just keep airing this show and see how the ratings go. LOL It couldn’t get worse than the first airing of the show..well..I guess it could. LOL

NOTES

----Johnny Dotson vs Tatt2 is my favorite original programming TV bout this year followed by Dustin Starr vs Kevin White a few weeks back. A good paced bout…Brian C vs White was their usual bout with good psychology and White was using “The Ghost of Don Bass” to get heat. Brian was bleeding from the top of his head and not sure when that happened…Thaddas/Koko angle made no sense. Koko was baby and then heeled here. They should have sent Dotson/DK out to do that angle…Lawler/Dundee angle where they are saying the guys have wrestled 400 times and they are tied is fun. But, it is so funny when they can’t even come up with the exact number. Dundee said he had won 199 and was ahead. LOL Hart then said that each guy had won 400 times and this was a tie breaker. Lawler/Dundee match was not good and had a shitty finish with Dundee getting DQed being caught with a chain while doing his version of TGODB…Hart said at one time during the Lawler bout, “the fans smarten up Lawler..” That was just hilarious to me…I think I seen Lammarus Brooks [SEW owner] at ringside. They had a good crowd for the political rally for Maclin. It was hard at time to watch the matches because they kept cutting away to show Corey with someone “important” – if those people are considered more important than the wrestlers, then how are the wrestlers going to be taken serious?? OH ME!! I know Maclin doesn’t care about the wrestling anymore, but..well..forget it.

RassleResults: EWE Ripley, TN 6.06.09

The tag team of Premiere Brutality come out to address about 130 fans as the National Anthem plays in the background. Eric Wayne says that everyone saw what happened last week where Premiere Brutality scored a victory over Genocide, and their hands were raised. He says that no matter what they do, they do not get rewarded for it. Wayne says that ever since they've arrived at EWE, they've carved a path of destruction, and until they get a tag team championship match, they're going on strike in the middle of the ring. Wayne and Nikels say that there will not be a show until the tag team titles are brought out and they get a title shot against Picture Perfect. Commissioner Dustin Baker comes to the ring, saying that he doesn't need anyone on the EWE staff going on strike. Commissioner Baker says that tonight, there will be a Number 1 Contender match that will start right now, and points to the ramp to show Eric Wayne and Kid Nikels their opponents. Genocide's music hits as The Albino Rhino and Maxx Corbin make their way to the ring, causing Wayne and Nikels to hit the arena floor. In the end, it is Genocide scoring the pinfall and the victory over Premiere Brutality. While Genocide celebrates in front of the camera, Eric Wayne comes up from behind and attacks Maxx Corbin from behind, sending him to the mat. Rhino comes over to Corbin's side, but Corbin is motionless. Security and referees escort Corbin to the back.

J.R. Manson makes his way to the ring, but quickly steps out to grab the mic. He says that all the fans that were involved in the Fans Strap Match last week were weak, that there were no marks left on his body this week. Jon Michael makes his way around the ring to begin his match with Manson. Jon Michael def. J.R. Manson via pinfall.

Mark Tipton makes his way into the ring to talk with Jon Michael. He congratulates Michael on his victory against Scott Adams last week at MAYHEM, and that officially makes Jon Michael 52-0 in the EWE. Tipton asks Michael if the situation between him and Adams was over with. Michael says that last week, he finally found out how much of a man he is, and that Adams can't beat Jon Michael. Mark asks what's next for Jon Michael. Michael says that he is undefeated in the EWE, and if anyone wants to put a 1 in that column of losses to come test him.

Stan Lee makes his way to the ring next. He asks if everyone had fun last week, because he sure did. He defended his title against Dustin "Five" Starr, and came away the champ. Bishop's music hits and he makes his way slowly into the ring next to the EWE Heavyweight Champion. Bishop congratulates Lee on defending his title, and calls Lee "Great." Bishop says that the two of them have had great matches in the past, and requests a title match. Krisis comes to the ring, joining Lee and Bishop. Krisis says that the last person that deserves a title shot is Bishop, and that he was the original holder of the Elite 8 ticket. Lee grabs the mic and says that both of these guys are well deserving, and he isn't scheduled for a match tonight, so he suggests a triple threat match. Bishop agrees to the match and Krisis just stands in place as Lee says that he'll take his silence as a yes. Lee says that this triple threat match will start right now as Mark Tipton rings the bell. In the middle of the match, Krisis apparently suffers some kind of injury and leaves the arena. Stan Lee scores the pinfall, retaining his EWE Heavyweight Championship. After the match, Lee and Bishop stand in the middle of the ring and pose for pictures for the fans. Bishop reaches out to shake Stan Lee's hand, but grabs him and sends him airborne and back down to the mat. Bishop grabs the mic and says that he can't believe that for one minute anyone thought that he cared about what anyone else thinks, and that all he cares about is the belt. He makes his way to the back as Lee regroups, grabs the mic, and says "I should have listened."

Ike Tucker def. Storm via pinfall.

Commissioner Dustin Baker comes back out to let the fans know that Maxx Corbin has been taken to a Jackson hospital for evaluation, and that Premiere Brutality will win the title shot by default. The Albino Rhino comes out and says that Maxx is on his way to Jackson General, but the reason he's not here is because of Eric Wayne. Rhino says that he knows that it's in the rules that a Tag Team Title match has to be two-on-two, but he's better than Premiere Brutality together. Premiere Brutality comes out and says that it's their match, and they're now the number 1 contenders. Commissioner Baker says that all 3 men in the ring have put him in a very tough situation, and it's not fair to the EWE staff, superstars, or the fans for Premiere Brutality to win by default. He says that it will be The Albino Rhino will team up with Eric Wayne to face Picture Perfect. If The Albino Rhino scores the pinfall on either Christian Jacobs or Chris O'Neal, Genocide will win the Tag Team Championships, and if Eric Wayne scores a pinfall on one of the two, Premiere Brutality will win the titles. Eric says that it isn't fair to Kid Nikels for him not to be able to compete twice when Eric Wayne does, but Baker says that Nikels is going to be in a singles match with The Baron Malkavain, starting now. Before the match gets underway, Commissioner Baker ejects Eric Wayne from ringside, and the bell rings. The Baron Malkavain scores the pinfall on Kid Nikels.

Eric Wayne and The Albino Rhino make their way to the ring. Eric Wayne tries to shake hands with Rhino, but he'll have no part of it. Picture Perfect make their way to the ring. After a few aggressive tags between The Albino Rhino and Eric Wayne and after The Albino Rhino gets tangled in the ropes, Christian Jacobs hits a spear on Eric Wayne and scores the pinfall. Picture Perfect retains their Tag Team Championships and make their way to the back as Eric Wayne runs to the back trying to escape The Albino Rhino.

Credit: Dustin Williams

----This is the second week in a row that Maxx Corbin has went down. I am not sure if past injuries are keeping him from working, but the whole Albino/Wayne as tag partners did not even seem fun to me. If Maxx is injured - have Albino feud against someone else and put PP vs PB...I thought they were going to try to push Bishop as a baby??...Michael is doing the Goldberg gimmick with the winning record. Could be fun...I am also hearing rumors that EWE may go bi-weekly during the summer.

Psycho Falling Revisited!!

----Please read what Billy Russ had to say about the video being removed because of a photo that Joey McNew owned. Russ sent me a note and directed me to www.wrestlingnewscenter.com to make sure we would repost it here. I have taken photos FOREVER in wrestling - since 1983 or 1984. If you use a photo, you just credit it. Similar to what WNC and me do for the sites and Yearbook 2008. All WWCW would have done was send Jimmy/Billy a letter and they would have put credit for the photo in the post. This was really a crappy way of handling things; don't you think? Hell I have guys that use photos I have taken and sell them on their gimmick tables. I have no problem with that.

As you all know by now the youtube video of Psycho falling out of the ring during the XOW show in Crenshaw, Ms. On 6/6/09 has been removed due to a “copyright” claim by WWCW Wrestling and had been deleted.

WWCW Wrestling which is based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and founded by Joey McNew. For some unknown reason someone found something on the video they considered a copyright violation. What is it? I have no idea because I never received a comment or message from the person or person’s filing the complaint from WWCW on what was wrong with the video I shot myself.

The best we can figure is that the picture of Psycho and Pappy used at the beginning of the video was taken by someone at WWCW. I got the picture off of Psycho’s myspace which I might add can be viewed and copied my millions of people. There is no visible copyright logo or WWCW logo on the picture so how can it be in violation? If this was a problem then all they had to do was contact me and I would have made a change without any question.

Psycho miscalculated and fell through the top and middle rope almost breaking his neck. This video was made to show that things can and will go wrong from time to time and to show the true dangers of professional wrestling. WWCW has a myspace and one of the blog entries dated Wednesday, May 27, 2009 states that

“ALL WWCW EVENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE”

Thus leaving one to believe the company is closed right? Well I guess not. The company is branching off into MMA and going through a restricting phase right now but the point is this, when a video is posted that can serve as a warning to up and coming wrestlers or just the younger generation that feel they are indestructible you should not puff out your chest and try a power play. Don’t be selfish and self centered, think about the man that could have been injured for life and support the message of “Don’t try this at home”. It’s not about you or your organization or XOW for that matter.

No one knows and no one care when, where or who took that picture……well except for the person or person’s who complained to youtube. The good news is that in just over a day the video had over 400 hits and now a new video has been made using a picture taken by Tia Blaylock and video shot by myself (Billy Russ). Oh before I forget, Permission to use the picture has been granted to me by Tia and Hollywood Jimmy.

MLW Gets A New Webmaster!!

----It has been said on a message board or two, but I wanted to let everyone know that I am new webmaster of www.mlwonline.com. I have known MLW owner Darrell for about 15 years or it might even be closer to 20 years. He contacted me about being the webmaster and after days of negotiating [actually it took about 5 minutes lol], we came to terms. I am mainly in charge of the construction of the site – giving the site a new look, getting downloads ready and such. Darrell has a full time writer that will be coming on board writing all the bios and such. I am piggy backing some of the stuff from his site to my site and back & forth. So, that is why you might see RRO attached to MLW. RRO is still my main priority with MLW taking up time on slow days of RRO. When the site is totally reconstructed, then it will be just a few hours a week on MLW. And my goal is to give MLW a great looking accessible site. No it will not be a shoot site with gossip and such. It will be designed for the fans of MLW – targeted to give them news about the promotion and such. If anyone is interested in ladies wrestling – drop by the site and give Darrell some business!!

All I can say is what a show we had tonight, even with Port Fest around the corner! Our show started off with the playing of the national anthem followed by a 10 Bell Salute for the uncle of Commissioner Terrence Ward and "The Suicide King" Ray Ray. Robert Pickrell was a former manager for ASWF's HOF's Dirty Little Dave and The Midnight Special. He will be truly missed by all.

Our first match of the night was a ladies match between Nikki Lane and Angelina. This match was all but short of an all out cat fight. After Angelinas victory last week, Nikki was ready for some revenge. However, victory would fall short for Nikki Lane as Johnny Hawk would take to the ring and begin to sexually harrass Lane. He told her that she has always wanted him and that she should kiss him. After a slap to the face he would grab ahold of Nikki and Angelina would begin to slap her over and over again. The referee would declare a no contest before the assault by Angelina due to time limit. Hawk would then begin to taunt Nikki and would go to hit her just before Austin Lane would come to the rescue. Austin would challenge Hawk to a match later in the evening.

The second match of the night would be between Demon X and MacDaddy. After last weeks match you would think that MacDaddy would stay home and count his blessings. Well not really. MacDaddy would prove to be the strongest in this match taking control very early until he used his patented branding iron and give the win to Demon X by DQ.

Tonight third match was a tag team match between LSD (Cody Only/Idol Bane) and Cason McClain/Cody Murdoch. You would think that with Cody Murdoch in McClains corner he would just concentrate on the match, but noooo. Cason would begin to taunt Idol Bane by doing push ups in the middle of the ring! Well after a quick tag to Cody Murdoch, I guess he realized his mistake, would begin to do the SAME THING! Well after about five minutes of taunting LSD would really start to get things done. Cody Only would plant the LTO (Limited Time Only) on Cason McClain and get the 1, 2, 3.

The fourth match was for the European Championship. Tim Hanson would go toe to toe with Hot Rod John Ellison (C). Tim Hanson would be on top throughout his match. Hot Rod would eventually try to get the referee distracted like last week and toss the belt to Hanson. He would then fall to the ground as if Hanson hit him with the belt. Well to Hot Rod's suprise the referee saw the exchange and when he turned his back to time keeper to make sure the belts stay on the table Hanson would use the belt and get the victory and the title.

Our fifth match was for Tag Team Gold! X-Kaliber and Morgan Williams with Athena Eclipse would take on Christopher Lee and Cody Meade. The former "American Degenerates" would stay on top. Until the action went in and out of the ring. Meade would come back in the ring with Williams and make him hit "rock bottom". X-Kaliber would come in to try to save his partner from the elbow which was to follow and would recieve a HUGE STUNNER instead of a paycheck! Meade would get the pin and secure the Tag Team Titles for himself and Lee.

Our feature match of the night was between Austin Lane and Johnny Hawk. Hawk, who I mentioned earlier, was not on good terms with Austin. Austin would try to gain any momentum he could but just could not cling on. Hawk would try everything from using the bell hammer to his teeth to inflict punishment on Lane. He stated that he was going to pay for his sins and so was his wife. Austin would finally get a boost from the crowd and was able to secure his win against Johnny Hawk. However after the match was over, Commissioner Ward would tell Hawk that since he was talking about Austin paying for his sins he would too. The Commissioner would state that he made his bed and now he was going to sleep in it. Hawk would be suspended for one week. And from what we could tell this is only the begining.

The semi-main event was for the X-Division Title. "The Suicide King" Ray Ray would defend his title against Regulator, a former X-Division champion as well. You could tell by the speed and shear pain dished out in this match that Regulator bit off more than he could chew. Ray would eventually get the win, but Regulator would use a steal chair not once but twice against the champion. Ray was finally helped up by the Commissioner and stated that next week he challenged Regulator to a special weapons match, where each superstar bring thier weapon of choice.

Our main event was a match that put you at the edge of your seat. Tommy Wayne would put the Heavywieght Title on the line against Justin "The Juice" Smart. Smart who over the last couple of weeks possessed the belt thinking that would automaticlly make him the champion. Smart, who is a former ASWF Champion, would let out an assault againt Tommy. Through many parts of the match the win for Tommy seamed real grim. However, just like the pheonix that rises from its ashes, Tommy would make a full comback with the fans behind him 100%. Tommy would nail the victory with a solid 1, 2, 3.

RassleResults: EPW Booneville, MS 6.06.09

The opening match was Bonecrusher vs. EPW Champion Mason. Bonecrusher out first and he was ready for a fight. Mason out next, accompanied by Bonecrusher's wife (who is under Mason's spell), EPW Promoter Edith Poole, and a Prentiss County Deputy Sheriff. Mason was boasting about EPW providing security for him since he is such a prestigious champion, and said he was not going to give Bonecrusher a title shot. Edith then took the mic and told Mason that the Deputy was not in the building as security for him, he was there to serve Mason with a warrant. Bonecrusher had filed assault charges against Mason for hitting him with a chain two weeks ago. The Deputy produced the warrant and was going to arrest Mason, when Bonecrusher said that if Mason would give him a title shot immediately, he would drop the charges. Mason had no choice but to agree. Bonecrusher gave Mason quite a beating. Mason got some good shots in, but it was almost all Bonecrusher until Bonecrusher's wife got up on the ring apron & distracted the referee and threw a chain in to Mason. Bonecrusher, however, saw the chain. Mason threw it to him and immediately hit the mat. Bonecrusher caught it and the referee sees the chain in Bonecrusher's hand and Mason laying in the ring and called for the bell. Winner by DQ and still EPW Champion is Mason. Bonecrusher is furious and says it's not over.

"Dangerous" David Cox & Vinnie The Blade went to a time limit draw.

"EPW Extreme Champion "Prime Time" Nick Grimes cheated his way to victory over David Andrews to retain.

Revolution (Cyrus & Chazz Stone) defeated New Kids (Cassanova Kid & Tysin Starr).

Pain, Inc. (Izzy Rotten & Brett Michaels) defeated STD (LSD & PCP).

JR Mauler over Buzz Harley by DQ when Buzz used a chair. After the match Buzz continued to hit JR with the chair. JR's partner, Kross, who had been doing commentary, ran in and was hit with the chair also. Kross' leg was broken several weeks before, and he had been out of action in recent weeks. Buzz then re-injured the leg before finally going to the back. Both JR and Kross were carried to the back and taken to the hospital for medical attention.

End of show.

I was later told that Kross' leg was re-broken and he will be out indefinitely. JR received a severe concussion. No word as to when he will compete again.

Crenshaw's very own NEW Mayor, Oscar Barlow, got things underway by introducing Bro. Wade from the church to say a few words about "Wrestling with Sin" and lead us in a prayer. Then, Oscar called out the XOW Heavyweight Champion, Danny B. Good. Danny B. delivered an inspirational message to the kids about never giving up in the pursuit of your dreams. He spoke of some of the struggles that he had while growing up, which included being shot in the back.

"Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock and "The Pink Flamingo" Brian So Fine walked out. Danny had some words for Brian walking out in a church environment wearing such provocative attire. Hollywood fired back, by saying, that Danny looked like a gangbanger and called him a host of other names, which included: a thug, wife beater, drunk, and a thief. Brian said that all of the kids should be looking up to "Everybody's hero, The Pink Flamingo and Hollywood!" When Danny went to the back, Hollywood called out Tony Watts. Once in the ring, Tony said this was between Jimmy and him and ordered Brian to go to the back. Then, Tony and Jimmy were talking face-to-face, when, suddenly, Pure Destruction, Brody and Cody Hawk, burst on the scene and entered the ring, shocking Hollywood Jimmy and the Crenshaw audience. Pure Destruction is back in XOW! I'm sure most are well aware of the past history between Tony and Brody. That's why this was such a shocker! Jimmy was excited at first, but Brody quickly told him to shut up and grabbed the mic. Brody said that at least Tony called them. Just when everyone thought things were all good in the neighborhood, Brody turned on Tony by grabbing him by the throat and choking him in the corner, saying he just didn't like him. The Asylum, Psycho and Pappy, ran out to save Tony. Tony said you want some, you got it because later in the show it will be The Asylum versus Pure Destruction. Brody told Tony that he was going to knock some color back into his hair. Then, Tony informed Pure Destruction and Hollywood that the match would be a street fight.

Opening Match-"The Greatness" Jay Webster with Dirty Rell Moe tied up with Uncle Felton. During his entrance, Felton picked up a little baby girl and started dancing with her. Al Hall joined "The Mayor" Oscar Barlow in calling the action and didn't waste too much time in referring to Felton as Derrick King's Daddy. Dirty Rell Moe choked Felton in the ropes. Webster would miss with a flying leg drop attempt. Later in the match, while Webster was holding Felton, Dirty tried to hit him, but Felton ducked out of the way so he struck Jay Webster. Uncle Felton took advantage of the opportunity and made the cover to get the win. Winner-Uncle Felton

2nd Match-Curly Moe with Dirty Rell Moe faced Drew Donovan. Curly Moe got lots of heat from the rowdy crowd. In the early moments, Drew threw Curly on the outside. While on the outside, Dirty requested a timeout to Referee Chris P. Fries. During this one, Oscar brought up Al Hall's Memphis Tigers basketball team. Yeah, they're in a little bit of trouble. I believe a couple Bad Calls took place there. Back to the action, Donovan hit Curly with a flying body press on the outside. Once Drew threw Curly back in the ring, he made the cover. Dirty jumped in and broke up the count. Drew would follow by connecting with a signature Curt Hennig rolling neck snap on Curly. While Dirty distracted Drew, Curly was able to jump him and connect with a ddt. Donovan picked up Curly on his shoulders for a running powerslam, but instead threw him into Dirty, who was on the apron. Donovan would catch Curly with a swinging neckbreaker and finished him off with a flying elbow drop from the top-rope. Winner-Drew Donovan. "You suck!" chants for Dirty and Curly, following the match.

Tony Watts came out, holding a weight scale. Tony asked Al Hall to get in the ring and called out "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock to join them, also. Tony commented on both Jimmy and Al's weight. Al stated, "I'm not fat, I'm big boned!" Then, Tony tried to pat Big Al's belly. Al yelled at Tony, "You don't touch me! You weirdo!" Jimmy said he weighed 196 and Al chimed in stating that he weighed 216. Al called Tony a stick man. Tony proposed a special challenge to Jimmy and Al to see which one could lose the most weight before 2010, with the winner being crowned, "The Biggest Loser". At first, Jimmy and Al just totally blew off the idea, thinking it was absurd, but the more they bragged about how they would beat the other, things began to get a little tense. This led to some friction between the two that only grew with comments made by Jimmy and Al. First, Jimmy said that there's no way Al could beat him, because he is a Memphis Wrestling Legend and all Al Hall has done was work for KAW, twenty-five years ago. Al didn't think too highly of Jimmy's credentials with Memphis Wrestling, saying that was all because of he's good friends with Corey Maclin. This sparked some more response from Hollywood Jimmy with him telling Al, "If you're in an elevator, you better hope it's going down!" Jimmy added, "I rode by Al's home and seen him in every window!" Needless to say, they both accepted the challenge. So at the end of the year, whoever loses the most weight will be crowned "The Biggest Loser." But first, they had to be weighed. Tony flipped a coin to see who went first. Jimmy is first. As soon as he stepped on the scale, Al hollered that it read, "792 lbs!" I don't guess the scale was working in the ring because they had to bring things to the floor. Maybe it did say 792 lbs? Once on the floor, Jimmy weighed in at 314 lbs and Al was clocked at 339 lbs. Before Hollywood could go to the back, Al told him to wait up. Al brought a dozen Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to give to Jimmy. Jimmy refused to take them, so Al threw them. They hit the floor. Jimmy turned around and saw them on the floor and decided to go back and get them.

3rd Match-DC vs "Southern Thunder" Chris Kilgore with Referee Joey Lynn making his return to the area. This was a match between two crowd favorites. Very technical in the beginning with the two going hold for hold. Then, things went to the outside. Later, DC would catch Kilgore running with a crossbody. DC tried a flip from the top, but Kilgore moved. Syn and DJ Stunner ran out and attacked both DC and Kilgore. "Sons of the South" Chris Styles and Josh Matthews, made the save, chasing off Syn and Stunner, who went to the announce table. Syn said they are sick and tired of them sticking their noses in their business. Syn added that Chris and Josh are going to have to put their titles on the line in a match of Syn and Stunner's choice. Syn and Stunner decided on making it a No DQ, Falls Count Anywhere match. Chris said that since it's a no dq match, if he wanted to pick up Al Hall's fat butt and throw it on them it would be ok. After the teams left the ring, Kilgore praised DC for his performance in their match and both men shook hands.

Al Hall made his way into the ring to gave out the remaining three 2008 Wrestling News Center Awards. First, Al introduced the winner of Most Improved Wrestler Award, Curly Moe. Then, Al brought out The Manager of the Year, Dirty Rell Moe. Lastly, Al presented the award for The Best Wrestling Match of 2008 to Curly Moe and Dirty Rell Moe, The Moe Foundation, for their part in The Hood Street Cage Match.

4th Match-Pure Destruction, Brody and Cody Hawk, managed by "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock vs The Asylum, Psycho and Pappy, with Tony Watts in their corner. This was a battle of four of the best big men around. At the beginning of the match, while locking up, Pappy managed to start biting Brody's hand. Brody rolled out of the ring and proceeded to wipe his hand all over my shirt. I told Brody that's a hundred dollar shirt. Brody came back with, "Now it's got Pappy's slobber all over it." Yeah, it does. Thanks a lot, Brody! Brody would later get some shots in on Tony before Psycho and Pappy could come to his aid. Then, an enraged Tony would run after Brody wielding his singapore cane, but could not get a clean shot on him. Pappy wanted a test of strength with Brody. Brody was laughing because he was a tad bit taller, but Pappy got the upper hand and took it to Brody in the corner. Jimmy would take some shots at Psycho and choke him, while he was down in the corner. Cody would crash into Psycho with a big splash in the corner. Then, the two behemoths, Psycho and Cody, would fight toe to toe, punching back and forth. As Psycho tried to mount a comeback, Brody was there to hit Psycho with a low blow. Then, came Psycho's very, very scary moment. When Psycho was sent in the ropes, he fell through them, hitting head first on the concrete floor. The place was silent as everyone was concerned for Psycho's well being. I thought the ropes had broken, but they were still intact. Inside the ring, Pure Destruction finished off Pappy with a double spinebuster to win the match. Following the pin, several guys from the back came out to check on Psycho and help him to the back.

Following the intermission, Al Hall grabbed a broom and asked, "When did my wife show up?" Oscar informed everyone that Psycho was going to be alright. Al added, "The report on Psycho is he's Psycho!"

5th Match-XOW Heavyweight Championship Match-"The Pink Flamingo" Brian So Fine, managed by "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock challenging the XOW Heavyweight Champion, Danny B. Good. Brian wore a sparkling jacket. Security tried to take Brian's flamingo to the back, but Brian quickly took it from him, screaming, "Don't touch my bird!" Brian told Danny that he was going to give him one and only opportunity to give him the belt and go to the back or he can take option number two and get hurt. Needless to say, Danny didn't give him the belt. Brian did, however, blow Danny a kiss. Collar and elbow tie up in the corner. Brian screamed like a little baby. Jimmy tried to get the fans chanting, "Go Brian Go!" That didn't go over so well. As a result, they got behind Danny. Test of strength with Brian getting the early advantage. Nice bridge from Danny, during the test of strength. Jimmy tripped up Danny while he was running the ropes. Later in the match, Jimmy would choke Danny with his cane. Brian would slingshot Danny into the ropes, choking him. Danny landed a flying headscissor and went up top, but Brian tripped him up. Brian connected with a superplex from the top-rope. Hollywood handed Brian some brass knuckles. Brian leveled Danny with them, but kicked out of the pin attempt. Danny suplexed Brian and went up, again. This time he hit the swanton, but Brian kicked out. Brian with a running attempt, but nobody home. Danny delivered The Revolution(Blockbuster neckbreaker from top-rope), but Jimmy pulled Referee Chris P. Fries from the ring. Danny grabbed both Jimmy and Brian's head, smashing them together. Danny missed a flying attack in the corner. Brian would catch Danny with a tombstone to get the win and become the NEW XOW Heavyweight Champion! Following the match, Brian So Fine grabbed the mic and said finally he will start getting some much needed R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Then, "Hollywood" Jimmy introduced Brian So Fine as the NEW XOW Heavyweight Champion. After Brian and Jimmy left, Danny B. Good asked the kids to please not try this at home.

Main Event-XOW Tag-Team Championship in No Disqualification, Falls Count Anywhere Match-Syn and DJ Stunner challenged The XOW Tag-Team Champions, "The Sons of the South" Chris Styles and Josh Matthews. Oscar got Chris and Josh's names mixed up at first. Al said he's going to have to start having a blood test before the shows from now on. Syn brought with him something that looked a lot like one of those wooden pepper grinders that you see at Olive Garden. Josh extended his hand to Syn and Stunner, but they weren't having none of that. Match got underway and things quickly got crazy. Chris found a drill from underneath the ring and well he drilled into Stunner's skull. Chris and Stunner would fight into the crowd, while Syn and Josh went at it in the squared circle. Once Styles and Stunner made it back in, it wasn't long before Syn and Matthews took it to the outside. Syn nailed Josh with the Asai Moonsault from the apron. Stunner would join them on the outside. Then, Chris with a diving attack. Followed by Josh with a running flip over the top onto everyone on the floor. Chris would hit Stunner with the ring bell. Inside the ring, Josh would connect with the pele. OH MY GOD!!! The Pele! Sorry about that. I had a Don West moment. Too bad he's a heel now. You notice how he never even acknowledges the pele anymore. I digress, back to the match. Chris missed a moonsault. Double shooting stars from Syn and Stunner. Chris with a death valley driver on Syn, followed by a leg guillotine on Syn, while he tied up in the ropes. Josh hit a frog splash on Stunner. Syn threw Styles back in the crowd. In the ring, Stunner landed the springboard moonsault on Josh. Chris jumped on the outside with a diving attack on Syn, right at my feet. Then, Chris took my pen that I used to write these results, jabbed it into Syn's head a couple times, and politely gave it back to me. That pen takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I'm pretty sure that's Timex's slogan, but I thought it was a very fitting comment to use there. Chris connected with the super kick on the outside. As you can tell, this one had a little bit of everything. It truly was some nonstop action. Someone even got hit with Syn's Olive Garden pepper mill. In the closing moments, Stunner attempted a swanton. He got some wicked air time. Chris would hit the Southern Destroyer on Stunner. "The Sons of the South" would get the win with Chris and Josh hitting Syn with the Doomsday Device, with Syn falling on top of Stunner. Following the match, they announced that next Saturday, June 13th, at the Annual Thunder on the Water Event in Grenada, Mississippi, they will do battle again, for the XOW Tag-Team Titles, but this time it will be inside of a steel cage. AWESOME! Chris started a chant of "You suck!", but toned it down to "Losers!" The little kids were giving Syn a hard time, again.

Following the match, "The Mayor" Oscar Barlow and Bro. Wade announced the winners of a special raffle they had to help raise money for the youth group, in which, the prizes included a special collection of WWE beanie bears.

Good Calls to everyone for their hard work and participation in delivering a fun show. Be on the lookout for Tia's pictures from this show. Don't forget, next Saturday, Thunder on the Water. Former WCW Star, Buff "The Stuff" Bagwell and Memphis Wrestling Legend, "Superstar" Bill Dundee will be there and much, much more! It's gonna be HUGE!!!
