RRX: Wayne's World "Weighing in On the Controversy" by Eric Wayne

----Eric Wayne sent in his thoughts on recent RRO events.
So I decided to weigh in on the controversy lately. How could I stay out of something so controversial!? I also wanted to send along the final press release for the benefit show this coming saturday. The press release is after the dotted line, in case its confusing lol

Sir Mo, Sam Lassiter, David Walls, and more!

With all the controversy being stirred up lately, I decided I'd jump in on it. Not to take sides with anyone but to further expose what Mo was attempting to explain.

As most everyone knows, this business has turned to shit and no one person is to blame for that. But several are to blame for making it worse.  I'd venture to say that about 95% of the people involved in wrestling don't belong. From a mark like David Walls that only cares about putting himself over, to any of the other marks that don't understand our business. By the way, ever notice the way I refer to wrestling? As a business, because THAT'S WHAT IT IS!

What makes things worse isn't just the promoters that should be buying tickets, its the boys that should ALSO be buying tickets(more on that later). Mo has already stated what it means to be a promoter. But will anyone listen? Of course not. The guys in charge of the horrible excuse for a  pro wrestling show don't care because, just like the wrestlers, they have no pride. THAT is the missing ingredient in today's business. No one gives a damn about anything they do and whether or not it means anything to anyone besides themselves. The promoters don't care to have enough money to run a show the right way and instead do everything half-assed. It shows from the lighting to the ring(in most cases) to the "security" to the wrestlers to the building. Since when did a spot show become an every week event? Since you decided you could pretend you belong in our business and run your horrible show and embarrass us?

The wannabe promoters today only care about instant gratification. Instead of finding a viable building, adequate talent, proper lighting and sound, a safe ring, and legit staff they throw everything together and call themselves a promoter. It goes right back to having pride in what you do. You would think that if you're going to run a show you would want to surround yourself with people that understand the business, if you don't. There is nothing wrong with wanting to get involved in wrestling but don't pretend you know what you're doing just because you've watched for 20+ years. You earn no respect that way and you piss people off more than you realize. When you do what you think is best and not what is right, people see that. Quick story on ignorance: David Walls was lucky enough to pop the house in Tuckerman by having about 70 college kids attend. It made for a great show because they bought EVERYTHING and were loud and rowdy all night long. Well he wanted to "make those kids happy so they'll come back" and "let them do whatever they want, so they'll come back". Instead of booking everything accordingly(which I felt we had) David decides its ok to allow ALL the kids in the ring after the show, to make them happy. Not only that but you also have heels and babyfaces out there being marks FOR the marks. They were being puppets and hitting spots for the group and heels who just a few minutes earlier were bad mouthing them, are making jokes and killing any semblance of heat they had just built! But David Walls had to make them happy so they'd come back....except the next week, they didn't come back.

When a promoter decides to run a show, several things should be taken into account, one of the most important is the talent being used. This goes right back to that missing ingredient: pride. Now, not every wrestler is going to look like a bodybuilder or be the most athletic. But they should bring something with them that will draw money, that is the reason you're running a show in the first place(David Walls). But just like promoters, there are a plethora of guys/girls that should never be allowed in a dressing room much less a ring. Just like everything else in this business, you have people that don't belong. And the promoters that don't belong tend to use the wrestlers that don't belong. They either have no gear, no athleticism, no physical presence or a combination of it all. But that doesn't matter, right? They'll work for free just to pretend they're a real wrestler like the ones they grew up watching. But they are no better than the embarrassing shows they work, or the pathetic excuse for a career they have with an even more pathetic excuse for a promoter.

As its been stated a lot recently, the best thing all these people can do is to quit the business. The embarrassment everyone has to endure because of their ignorance would be avoided and provide opportunities for the ones forging a career for themselves. If the talentless talent would quit entertaining themselves the ignorant promoters would almost  have no choice but to shut down. Or we could all just take pride in what we do and actually try to improve in every aspect. That won't happen because someone's feelings would get hurt when they had to put someone over that ONLY they thought didn't deserve it. Hey guys, get over yourself and accept that you don't belong in this business because you have no pride, an undeserved ego, no real talent, and no motivation to improve. You embarrass yourself more than you'll ever realize and you embarrass the people like myself that have to sit through your ego satisfying bullshit. We don't want you in our sport but we tolerate you to gain what knowledge and experience we can to make yourself better. But thank you for making the process 10 times as hard as it should be and thank you for giving us something to laugh at on our ride home.
