Former Stampede/WCW/WWF Superstar Mike Shaw passed away on September 11, 2010 of a heart attack at the age of 53.
Mike Shaw was born May 9, 1957 in Skandia, Michigan and made his professional debut in 1981.
In 1981 he begun his wrestling career for Al Tomko's NWA All-Star Wrestling in Vancouver as Klondike Mike. Where he won the NWA Canadian Tag Titles with Danny O on June 29, 1981 in Vancouver, B.C.
In 1982 he debuted for the late Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling in Calgary as Muckan Singh where he feuded with the late Owen Hart where both traded the Stampede North American Championship four different times.
After his stint for Stu he went to South Africa and worked as Big Ben Sharpe for 2 months which he soon returned back to Calgary for Stampede. After returning back to Stampede he sided with Gadowar Singh Sahota (The Great Gama Singh) known as Karachi Vice where he would continue to work before joining World Championship Wrestling (WCW).
He went on to join World Championship Wrestling from 89-90 as Norman the Lunatic where he played the psycho type gimmick where he would receive teddy bears from the fans as gifts. He would go on to be under the management of Teddy Long and feud with Kevin Sullivan.
After World Championship Wrestling he took some time away from the mat and opened his own wrestling wrestling school in Michigan.
In June 1991 he would join Joe Pedicino's Global Wrestling Federation that ran weekly shows on ESPN from Dallas Texas where he would go back to his roots of Muckan Singh and be paired up with Mick Foley (Cactus Jack), Mark Sciarra (Rip Rogers), and Scott Levy (Scott Anthony) known as The Cartel. The heels would feud with guys like Steve Cohen(Steve Simpson) and Del Wilkes(The Patriot).
In April 1993 he debuted for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) doing a priest type gimmick known as Friar Ferguson but the gimmick would quickly be pulled as complaints begin to pour in from The Catholic Church of New York.
In June 1993 he was repackaged as Bastion Booger where he would feud with the likes of Mike Jones (Virgil), and Scott Bigelow(The late Bam Bam Bigelow). He was quickly turned a "babyface" and the gimmick finally ran it's course as he was released in early 1994.
In 2003 he was ranked in Pro Wrestling Illustrated's (PWI) at #403 out of the yearly top 500.
He was brought back doing the Bastion Booger gimmick for one night only on December 10, 2007 as part of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Raw's 15th Anniversary.
Before his death we would attend the wrestling conventions that was present.
He is survived by his wife Kelly, Amanda (daughter), and Joshua (son)
I sent Mike a message just a few weeks ago about conducting a interview with him as I wasn't aware he had been sick. I would like to send my condolence to the Shaw family.
