National Sputnik Monroe Day and Memphis Heat Premiere Announced!!

----National Sputnik Monroe Day and Memphis Heat premiere.

----Here is a press release on the announcement for the premiere of the movie.  RRO will be attending the event that night!!

Off the Top Rope Productions proudly announces National Sputnik Monroe Day on March 24, 2011, celebrating the life achievements inside and outside the wrestling ring of American hero and icon Sputnik Monroe (see National Sputnik Monroe Day video below)!

In addition to honoring Sputnik Monroe and proclamations to be given to Monroe’s surviving family, National Sputnik Monroe Day will also include the world premiere of Memphis Heat:  The True Story of Memphis Wrasslin’  (see film trailer below).  Memphis Heat features a long line of famous (and infamous!) Memphis wrestlers beginning with Sputnik Monroe and Billy Wicks.  Memphis Heat will premiere at the Memphis Malco Paradiso Theater 584 S. Mendenhall in Memphis on March 24, 2011, with two shows 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.  Memphis Heat will run for one week in Memphis at Malco Studio on the Square Theater 2105 Court St. beginning March 25, 2011

Memphis Heat:  The True Story of Memphis Wrasslin' documents the wild and woolly history of Memphis and Mid-South professional wrestling.  From the carnival days of cult hero Sputnik Monroe--the heel who integrated the Memphis wrestling audience before the Civil Rights movement--to masked men, midgets, tag teams, female wrestlers, and the rise of bad-guy heel Jerry "the King" Lawler and Jimmy “Mouth of the South” Hart in the 1970s, Memphis Heat delves into a time-forgotten, pre-cable tv world where almost anything happened inside and outside of the wrestling ring and no holds were barred!  Please do not miss the most important film of our times.

Executive Producer of Memphis Heat and author of Sputnik, Masked Men, & Midgets:  The Early Days of Memphis Wrestling--the book  Memphis Heat is based upon--Ron Hall said, “We are very excited to premiere Memphis Heat in Memphis, Tennessee.  Memphis is the center and heartbeat from where all of the excellent and intense half-century of wrestling took off for the whole mid-south territory.  Memphis has the most ardent fans of wrestling in the world and deserves to have first shot at enjoying this amazing film.”

Ticket sales for the world premiere of Memphis Heat will be handled through www.Malco.com and we will announce a date and time when they will go on sale via www.facebook.com/memphisheat
