The Thompson Perspective 12.05.2009 By Brian Thompson

Don't blink. Yes indeed the RasslinRiot Online "2008 Columnist of the Year" is back, just as his title is about to be up for grabs in 2009. I honestly planned to write as often as possible this year, but job and wrestling commitments keep me extremely busy. But, I'm hoping that 2010 is a year that will let me get back on track to present regular writings for the enjoyment of RRO readers and followers.

I'd like to say I'm excited to be back, but honestly with the passing of Eddie "Umaga" Fatu, it is really hard not to be a bit bummed.

I had the pleasure to work with Eddie on a regular basis back in 2001. He was signed to a World Wrestling Federation developmental contract and was working for Memphis Championship Wrestling, which at the time was a developmental territory for the Federation. While not under a money-making contract, I was on the MCW crew at the time as a house show ring announcer.

Eddie was always gracious and courteous when we encountered each other. I was blessed to see many great matches as he and partner Rosey faced some of MCW's other top tag teams including Joey Matthews (aka Joey Mercury) and Christian York; Charlie and Russ Haas; just to name a couple that come to mind easily.

When Eddie was in MCW, he had a "dancer" type gimmick along with Rosey. I guess it was a spinoff of Rikishi and Too Cool. They would come to the ring, getting all the fans in attendance to wave their hands and "dance like they didn't care." Usually, there was a post-match celebration that, guess what?, included a little dancing. Also, they typically tried to involve others in the routine. Sometimes it included other wrestlers and fans. One time, yours truly was even "suckered" into dancing. Trust me, I brutalized the dance routine. I remember Lisa Marie Varon was in the ring too (WWE's Victoria and current TNA Star Tara). I seem to recall her laughing at me and my "dance moves."

Memories like that make Eddie's passing that much more sad to me. Nobody should die at 36-years-old. That is the prime age of life. I was really hoping to see him make another run in WWE. His fued with the Undertaker that will now never be a reality would have produced some quality matches.

Eddie is actually the third member of my old MCW crew mates to pass away. He joins Russ Haas (2001) and Steve Bradley from earlier this year. This is not like we are talking about a crew of guys that were together in 1945 or something. We were together less than 10 years ago!

I certainly hope I haven't soured your day. I just wanted to write something about Eddie, a man who left us waaaaaay too soon like so many others.

While 2009 has been very busy for me between early commitments with N.E.W. and then working with Bobby Eaton and Greg Anthony in Midnight Gold, 2010 looks to be much more busy. I hope to share some news with you guys later this week. This is not completely "news" to the boys in the business as many have heard what is in the works. But for the rest of you, get ready for what I hope is a nice surprise.

Take care and have a great weekend all!

(WGN) Wrestling World Mourns Umaga, Dead At 36 by MIke Aldren

The wrestling world is tonight mourning the death of former WWE star Umaga.

Umaga, 36, whose real name is Edward Fatu, was found by his wife last night at his home in Texas, unable to breath and bleeding from the nose, according to a family member. He had fallen asleep in his chair while watching television.

He was rushed to a Houston-area hospital after suffering what doctors believe was a massive heart attack. They did manage to restart his heart but he was taken off life support late this afternoon after being declared brain dead.

Fatu is probably best known for headlining Wrestlemania 23 against Bobby Lashley in a match where Vince McMahon put his hair on the line against the hair of Donald Trump, with Steve Austin as guest referee, which drew the biggest buy rate in the history of professional wrestling.

He was a member of the famous Anoa'i Samoan-wrestling family that included the likes of Afa, Sika, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Samu, Rikishi, Rosie, The Tonga Kid, and many more.

By all accounts, he was well liked and nobody had a bad word to say about him.

Friends in the wrestling business have been left devastated by the news of his untimely passing, most of all, Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson, who worked Fatu's final match last weekend on the Hulk Hogan tour of Australia.

In an eerie coincidence, Anderson also worked Eddie Guerrero's last match before Gerrero's well-documented untimely death in a Minneapolis hotel room in 2005.

"Ecki's (Umaga's) death is an appalling tragedy," one major name WWE wrestler told me this evening. "He was an immensely talented performer, we were good friends, and (I will) miss him. My thoughts are with his entire family right now. I can't imagine the loss they are feeling."

On its website, the WWE expressed its "deepest condolences to Mr. Fatu's family, friends and fans on his tragic passing."

In arguably a PR move, the WWE statement also read: "Mr. Fatu was under contract with WWE at various time periods and most recently performed under the name Umaga. Mr. Fatu's contract was terminated on June 11, 2009. "

This was in reference to a second Wellness Policy violation and his subsequent refusal to enter rehabilitation which led to his firing earlier this year.

Former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson, who resides a few miles away from the Fatu family home, said she had been praying all day for a miracle. Last year for her birthday, Fatu had given her an English Bulldog called Uce as a present. Uce means "brother" in the Samoan language.

Tributes from friends and fans have poured in tonight through social networking website Twitter.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Eddie Fatu," said Eric Bischoff. "He was a great performer and a wonderful person."

TNA's Pope D'Angelo Dinero, said: "This is rough, very rough. My heart and prayers goes out to Umaga's wife, his boys, and family."

Another message, from Christopher Daniels, said: "RIP Eddie Fatu. I'm glad I got to know you in the short time you were here."

TNA Knockout Tara, Lisa Marie Varon, said: "Rest in Peace Umaga We will love you always and we will all miss you."

Long-time WWF ring announcer Howard Finkel also wrote a touching blog on the WWE website.

He said: "Like Yokozuna who preceded him, Eddie’s bloodline made him a part of the legendary Anoai family. The Wild Samoans (Afa and Sika) certainly set the bar high for their family members who aspired to follow in their footsteps, with Eddie being one of them. And not withstanding his early WWE tenure as a member of the tag team known as Three Minute Warning, Eddie finally had something to run with when he became Umaga."

"...And with no disrespect intended, I felt that he turned out to be the most talented member of the family. He was deliberate, fierce, and smartly methodical in his ring style, but could instantly become as quick as a cat in no time flat. For a man of his size, he definitely put the A in agility."

Edward "Umaga" Fatu (March 28, 1973 - December 4, 2009)

A MESSAGE FROM AFA THE WILD SAMOAN

On behalf of my family, the Anoa'i and Fatu family, we are devastated and shocked by the loss of our Eki (Umaga). Our son, nephew, brother, cousin, husband, father. Our hearts are broken, and words can't express what each of us are feeling. It is so comforting to know how loved Eki is by his family, peers, friends, and most of all his fans.

When I received that AM phone call that my nephew was in the hospital, I dug deep and prayed and cried and begged for a miracle. When we lost Eki, I knew it was God's will, and that he is with my sister, his mother, who passed just a year ago.

We are making our plans now for our farewell to Eki, but I wanted to take this time to thank everyone for all of the thousands of posts, emails, letters, and cards. Although I have not been able to bring myself to answer them personally, your kindness does not go unnoticed. I want to especially thank our WWE family and Stephanie McMahon for everything, and her phone call was very comforting to me in my time of sorrow.

God bless each and every one of you, and I've said it a hundred times, the best people in the world are our wrestling people. You'll never find a more dedicated group of people.

Be safe and be healthy, and love one another.

God bless,

Afa the Wild Samoan
"Pops"

Umaga Passes Away!!

----As reported below by www.wrestlingobserver.com, Umaga did pass away around 5:00 PM our time. I received a call around 1:00 PM today saying that he was already dead, but the Observer had just posted he was taken to the hospital. The source was claiming it was a drug overdose, but that has not been reported by any other person in the wrestling media. I did get the privilege of meeting him at a Power Pro New Daisy show in Memphis, TN one night. It was just in passing, but the guy that worked him that night [Jack Diamond aka Jackie Hicks] said he was a nice guy.

Edward "Umaga" Fatu passed away around 6 p.m. Eastern time after suffering a second heart attack while in the hospital. He was 36.

We want to send our condolences to the entire family on their loss.

Umaga Near Death!!

----It has been reported everywhere that Umaga died earlier today. Apparently, he is near death, but as of 12 minutes ago the www.wrestlingobserver.com reported the following....

Just to clear things up that have been reported, Eddie Fatu at this point is still alive and in a hospital in Houston. The family is being gathered and without a miraculous recovery, it is just a matter of time. But he has not passed away.

The Dynamite Blast with "Dynamite" Seth Knight Week 6

Hey RRO. Here we are again. I’m very excited this week to introduce a new thing coming next week to the Dynamite Blast, and that is the “Tweet of the week”. I will be giving out a tweet that someone wrote that week that I feel was the greatest tweet of the week.

This week we have some great columns, and what I believe is the best column I have seen out of my fellow worker, Maxx Corbin! But first is Greg Anthony’s Golden Circle.

This week tgb talks about how wrestling can be a drug to most wrestlers and that’s what keeps us into it and why we cant get away even if we try. I feel the same way. Something about the roar of the crowd, the lights, the camera ( If the show has one which all of them should), All the fun of a show type environment. Any show, Ball game, Event, Concert…It’s all a bigger deal when you’re right there. The way the crowd makes me feel is what makes it all worth it. If it wasn’t for them I would never be able to do that to myself every week. I leave a part of myself in the ring every time I work, but I love every minute of it. It’s exactly like a drug addiction. Then you go home…Lay in bed…When you wake up, you try to get out of bed, Takes a few tries. You take a hot shower or bath and try to get over the wrestling hangover you have incurred from the night before. But in the long run, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Maxx Corbin’s MAXXED OUT column was great this week. First off, last week I was saying that people who don’t even WATCH wrestling have no business working in the ring. I believe it was Jim Ross on Tough Enough who told a guy who just said he didn’t know what a “Spinaroonie” was, that if he didn’t watch the product why would they hire him. That’s basically what I was saying. Nothing about you Maxx. I know you watch wrestling haha. Now the column.

Any one who sits and tries to defend Tiger Woods for what he’s done is a moron. The girl at your work….Moron! How can you justify cheating several times on your wife? Transgressions? That must be another word for I just got caught cheating. Why can’t he just say “OK, OK, I had sex with a few other girls, I’m sorry. Ill try not to be an idiot anymore” Instead he says that he “…has let his family down.” A guy is a guy and it has nothing to do with the fact he has money or is famous. He cheated because he’s not a faithful guy. It doesn’t make him evil or a bad person. It makes him human. The best president we ever had was a womanizer. He cheated….So. Still a great president…Tiger cheated…so, still a great golfer. He’s never in trouble for breaking the law, he just apparently likes getting nude pics of girls (Who doesn’t?) and likes a few girls on the side. Hell, If my wife made what Tiger makes I would never ask what she was doing. Just leave me the Debit Card.
He prolly hit that tree getting road head from one of those girls. Then he said “I need to ask you a favor, please run out of the car so no one knows I’m letting my family down.” The fact of the matter is that the woman who was at Maxx’s work defending Tiger Woods was doing so because she has a crush on him. Now she thinks there’s a chance she can get in his pants since she knows he’s not perfect…Women love a bad boy. Good points Maxx.

A big thank you goes out to Bruno for the props he gave me in his column. Thanks so much for your encouraging words and for recognizing me. I hope to live up to all the great things you said about me.

Brian Tramel let out a big column off his heart yesterday. The deep emotion and heartfelt things he expressed in his column was felt by me and I’m sure you all felt it too. When he said “What has wrestling done for me, lately?” I was like…..”Damn, That’s deep” I couldn’t believe some of the things his column put across to me and all the parts of me it touched. But I want you to know, Brian that you not writing anything is the best thing you have ever done for the readers of your site. We thank you. Lol.

Im out of here for now. Next week we will have a Weekly tweet and much much more to lighten the mood here at RRO. Don’t forget to go to www.wrestlingnewscenter.com and vote for all your favorite awards nominees and maybe even vote for Seth Knight if you want…You don’t HAVE to..But you do if you read this column…It’s the rule. Sorry I didn’t tell you before you started reading….

See you next week…

Kid Chaos Arrested!!

----Terrance Ward over at www.wrestlingnewscenter.com posted this item. I thought it was of interest to the readers and promoters in this area. And, I hate to say this, but I have seen at least 95% of the guys that work in this area, but I have never heard of this guy!! We do not cover the Hoxie group and that might be the reason. I am assuming they are a "backyard" group. Well..the deal is - promoters if this guy is on the Arkansas State Sex Offender Registry, then he does not need to be on your show!!

It has been confirmed that Raymond Maple (aka: Kid Chaos) was arrested by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department on a Failure to Appear Warrant after bonding out of the Greene County Detention Center in Paragould, Arkansas. He is known for wrestling in the new promotion, OCW, located in Hoxie, Arkansas. According to the Arkansas State Sex Offender Registry he is also a registered sex offender. WrestlingNewsCenter.com will follow this story and keep you posted as information is available.

My World - MAXXED OUT!! "The Power Of Celebrity" by Maxx Corbin

The power of Celebrity

I understand I had my time during the Thanksgiving break but with Christmas approaching fast and my schedule getting tighter, I thought I’d make my post early. Plus my post is topical right now and may not be in the following weeks. This hopefully will provide a change up for Seth (who if I read his last column right, thinks I may need to retire because I know wrestling is a work? lol) when he writes his column.

What is it that makes us want to believe a celebrity is infallible? I know that has been tackled before with other writers, but it really baffles me. What brings this up? Tiger Woods and his “Transgressions”, that’s what. I was having a conversation today at my shoot job and made a small talk comment that sparked some of the most ridiculous statements ever uttered. The comment I made was this “Wow, Tiger really screwed up huh. He should have called Kobe the minute it came out and asked if he could hire his P.R. guy!” Apparently, the woman I was telling this to is either working for the Tiger Woods’ defense team or is on his list of “Transgressions”, but I think she may just be a huge mark for Tiger. I’m not really into Golf. It looks like a sport that (like baseball) would be way more fun to play than watch. My extent of Golf knowledge comes from the movie Happy Gilmore and the video games, that’s about it. So, while it would be cool to meet Tiger, "I (as Chris Rock would say) wouldn’t break a lunch date to meet him." Her response to me was, “Well Tiger is just a private person.” Like she had spent many summer days just hanging out with him in his parent’s basement making demo tapes like a radio DJ. “This is Tiger on WTIG The Tiger, now here is some new Aerosmith!!!(Tiger sound effect)” No, that didn’t happen.

So, what is she basing her claim on? She never even met the guy! When I brought up the fact that they had pictures of Tiger and his girlfriends and text messages from Tiger that said “Delete the name on your voice mail, my wife may call you.” Her retort was that it could be faked. Yes, in this day and age pictures can be faked. My wife works for the Police Department here in Jackson and she told me they can’t take photos as credible evidence anymore (this may be different in your city). Yes, everyone has Photoshop nowadays! I can understand that if you have a picture of Tiger you can make it look like he’s plowing your best friend’s mom while he’s in mid backswing, that’s just common Photoshop knowledge. But how do you fake a text. Granted, you can save anyone’s number in your phone under the name Tiger and be thrilled when you receive a text, but how do you fake getting texts from HIS NUMBER? Sure, there are ways of hacking the phones, but I highly doubt that the waitresses he was messing with knew how to do it. When I proposed this argument to my work colleague, she tried to turn the argument around to Technology and the way it is unreliable…..HUH?? To quote Chris Rock again, "this woman and gonna let a thing like logic fuck up her argument."

She then asked me if I’d trust my life to cell phone technology. I thought about it for a second. Cell phones can be pinged, in emergencies, through satellites and satellite towers to locate the phone wherever it may be, like GPS. They also have the
capability of dialing 911 and connecting you even without a service chip. That means if you are in the middle of the woods and have a track phone with no minutes left and blow your foot off shooting at a deer; you can call 911 and it finds a tower on any carrier (att,Verizon, sprint, etc)to carry the signal. Knowing all of this I said Yes, I would definitely trust cell phones with my life. Apparently, she must have been talking about trusting it to pull me to safety like a scene in Cliffhanger, because she laughed at me and said I was crazy….HOW DID THIS GET TURNED AROUND ON ME? And was I out of line for calling her Amish with no understanding of technology? Probably, because like I said before, she is a mark. Marks want to believe that what they see is real, the good guy always wins, and everything always ends happily ever after.

I went through a similar situation when Benoit did what he did. I couldn’t believe that someone I had looked up to could be so evil. I even felt bad when Steve McNair died. I kept telling myself that he didn’t deserve to die because he was a football hero. But in the end I accepted these things. But why did it take me so long to do it? There are no perfect people! The ones that seem to be perfect usually end up dead with drugs in their system or the windows of their ride busted up with Golf clubs. Maybe we shouldn’t put that much stock in celebrities….but we always will…..that will never change. I know I'm quoting Chris Rock like he's Jesus, but one other thing he said was this. "A man is as faithful as his options." How many options you think a billionaire who travels the world has? At one point in the argument the Tiger Mark co-worker of mine actually said she wishes she would have been one of the girls he slept with, and shes got a husband and 2 kids. That should tell you about his options. So, long story short, celebrities are human and humans make mistakes.

----Born Richard Mullikin, Maxx Corbin is a 7 year pro in wrestling and provides RRO with a monthly column. While growing up in Bemis,TN as a kid, he had no cable and lived week to week on the wrestling tapes he got from family and friends. He likes to think he has a great since of humor and makes light of tense situations. This is why he no longer works at the local hospital. He enjoys playing video games, stand up comedy, and music that very few have a taste for. He won an award in his middle school technology class for building a small bridge out of hobby wood. The bridge held 55lbs. He graduated from his high school with a 3.4 gpa. He was super bad ass at WCW vs NWO World Tour on N64(usually taking out opponents during Jerry Springer commercial breaks).

Show opens with Ron McClarity coming out. He complains that he has went from being DCW champion and being the main event, to working no bodies in the opening match.

Match 1 Ron McClarity vs Dogg Pound Trainee - Pretty much a squash match
winner by submission - Ron McClarity

Next out Angelina and Lovely Latricia. They are expecting to be in in a tag match. That is until Michael Ward comes out. He starts mouthing off about how woman have no business in wrestling. Angelina then slaps his face. He then tells her that they thought they were scheduled to face ladies tonight, but it was a typo, it should've actually said babies, as in baby gorillas.

Match 2 -The Gorillaz vs Angelina and Lovely Latricia
The Gorillaz pretty much toyed with the women.Latricia even tried to spear one of the big boys a la her trainer Rodney Mack. At one point Angelina managed to give one of them a Dole(ball) shot. That was the only thing that somewhat seem to phase the apes. Later the Gorillaz ende the match with double splashes. Winners by Pinfall The Gorillaz......The ladies got an ovation from the crowd afterwards.

Next up Redd Dogg's music hits. But its DCW champion Pokerface dressed as Rodney Mack. He has the tights on, red bandana, MMA stlyed ankle braces, and a little stuffed dog. By the way, he later staes the stuff dog is Jazz. Redd Dogg - Pokerface begans to apologize for getting his tail whooped by the DCW champ and then he starts committing domestic violence on the stuffed dog(Jazz). Then the #1 contender's music hits. Soultrain Jones. He comes out. Points at Poker, then himself, and motions that the belt his as good as his. He never utters a word. The crowd went crazy. That actually saved what was a dying segment.

Match 4 - Boss vs Dogg Pound Trainee
A short bag and forth match with Boss winning with a Rock- Bottom type maneuver. Then Ron McClarity slides in the ring and lays Boss out with a chair to the head.

Match 5 - Tejano Kid vs John Allen
Pre match Tejano states that if John can pin him, that he will leave. Crowd was hot for this match from bell to bell. The end came when Logan Adams and Mike Anthony jumped John. The Natural Born Playaz ran in to even the scored. Later tonight Mike Anthony and Logan vs The Natural Born Playas with John Allen as guest ref.

Match 6 - Soultrain Jones vs Pokerface DCW Heavyweight Title match
Soul train dominated this match with power and aggression. He military pressed Poker for about six reps during one point in the match. But Poker's experience and cunning came into play, later in the match. The end came when, Poker realizing he was in danger of losing, blatantly kicked the ref in his officials(balls). Winner by DQ Soultrain Jones.

Match 7 -Logan Adams & Mike Anthony vs Natural Born Playaz - John Allen special ref.
Alot of back and forth action and intensity by both teams. The end came when Mike Anthony nails John. And the playaz procede to use their double team finisher on Mike. Southside then motions for John to goto the top rope, where he procedes to deliver a moonsault. Winners by Pinfall - The Natural Born Playaz.

Heard crowd was around the same as last week..around a 110 to 120

Mama Says It Beees That Way Sometimes "Give These Guys Some Attention!!” by Bruno Lauer

This week I’d like to talk about a few guys who I’ve worked with at NEW that don’t get nearly enough attention as I feel they should.

First, Shawn Reed is one of the nicest, most respectful guys I’ve met in the business. He does a fantastic job on the mic and he consistently has good matches. His interviews are intelligent and to the point and he always gives 110%.

Another guy who I’m proud to work with is another great young guy – Seth Knight. I was very sorry to hear bout his loss of his dad here recently and I am sure it hasn’t been an easy time for his family emotionally lately. In the ring, this guy does a tremendous job all around. I always look forward to his appearances at NEW. Nice guy, good attitude and he does a good job on the mic and in the ring. What else could you ask for??

Finally, let’s pat the back to Terrance Ward and John Steele. The NEW announce team is really major league in every way. These guys could fill in on Raw or Smackdown at any given time and the show (s) wouldn’t miss a beat. They both have great knowledge of the business with great passion and professionalism. All around good guys. We have a great crew at NEW and I am proud to be part of it.

----“Downtown” Bruno Lauer is a legend in Memphis Wrestling. He surprised everyone last year winning RRO Referee of the Year 2008 from his work at NEW. He appears bi-weekly with his non controversial column. Lauer had his biography published last year “Wrestling with The Truth” and can be purchased at www.crowbarpress.com. Lauer is also currently employed by the WWE.

RassleResults: MCW Osceola, AR 11.27.09

Friday night started and ended in a bang. Wrestling action was intense the whole night.

First match was Homer Lee vs V-man, great wrestling talent by both opponents. The match timed out and was a draw.

Johnny Morton and Bishop vs Hambones 1&2 After an intense fight, Bishop walked out of the ring and left Johnny Morton standing alone and the Hambones got the win.

Knock Out Kidd and Wild Bill vs Officer Hudson and Ray V-Man runs in and interferes causing Officer Hudson to get disqualified.

East Coast Bad Boyz vs Kilo and Pokerface this match ended in a DQ due to outside interference of Officer Hudson and V-Man leaving C-Money knocked out in the middle of the ring. East Coast took the win.

Main Event was very intense from the beginning, it was All American Frankie Tucker and Big Daddy vs Pimp and Southside. This was an awesome street fight. The fight took place all over the building, action everywhere. The ring filled up with all wrestlers, fighting was intense and the match ended up as NO CONTEST.

Credit: Kim Wallace & MCW

----I talked with someone this week that said crowds have picked up here and the crowd is rowdy...Would have love to have seen the ECBB vs Kilo/PKO. Main event was probably wild also.

RassleResults: ASWF Tuckerman, AR 11.28.09 - The Belt Comes Back To Austin Lane!

Tonight's show would prove to be exciting and pulse pounding from the start to finish.

Commissioner Rickey Rowland would take to the ring and have local kids hold the flag for the playing of the National Anthem.

Our first match of the night was The Enforcer taking on an old adversary, Kid Dynamite. The Enforcer would not hold anything back and would control most of the match. They always say never to turn you back on your opponent, and that could not have been more true for The Enforcer. Kid Dynamite would roll him up for the pin.

The second match of the night Hot Rod John Ellison would take on another new addition to the ASWF Roster, Lee Michaels. Michaels would start off on the right foot but would soon find himself on the wrong foot. Hot Rod would use his veteran ring experience to out smart and out do the young Lee Michaels. Hot Rod would win the match via pinfall.

Tonight's third match would show the return of Wild Bill who would take on Joshua Cross. Both Cross and Bill would exchange control of the match. Wild Bill would surprise his opponent and the crowd with a Stunner and a pin. Cross would not be happy about his loss to Wild Bill and attack him after the match. Cross would have to be dragged to the back by the referees and security.

The fourth match would be for the #1 Contendership for the Tag Team Titles. LSD's Cody Only and Deadly Dale would face off against Morgan Williams and Seth Sabor. Both teams would lose and gain ground through the match. Something unexpected would happen when The Enforcer would appear in the aisle way watching the match. While action was inside and out of the ring Cody Only would plant the LTO on Morgan Williams and get the pin.

Our fifth match was scheduled for one fall. Tommy Wayne would take on Prime Time Kevin Charles. Charles would be in over his head tonight with Athena Eclipse in Tommy's corner. Charles would dominate the match but in the end he would get a face full of aerosol spray blind him from seeing. The referee would declare Charles the winner by DQ.

Tonight's Feature Match was a Non-Title match with the X-Division Champion Christopher Lee taking on Vinny Romano. Lee would control most of the match with two attempted finishers, but Vinny would have something special for him...a chain. He would knockout Lee and get the win.

The Semi-Main Event was a Tag Team Match. CM2 would go mano y mano with the Beach Bums. CM2 show nothing but shear strength against the Beach Bums. The Beach Bums would have a little hope after getting back in control only to have Mark Wolf to turn on Kalaiki using his finisher The Wings of the Fallen. Cody Murdoch would pin Kalaiki for the win.

The Main Event was an explosive one. A Triple Threat Match for the ASWF Title. Idol Bane VS Austin Lane VS Demon X (with Johnny Hawk). You could not believe the action in and out of the ring. Austin would spear Demon X and get the win and the title.

And don't forget...

----Good to see the belt back on Lane...I think Ward is one of the best on the mic in this area. His delivery is very good and seems to believe what he is saying. Thompson having limited work this year as an announcer, I would have to go with him first in Announcer of the Year.

The Golden Circle "Let's Get High" by Greg Anthony

To those who know me best, the title of this article is probably really confusing. Most know me as the straight laced individual in the locker room always talking about wrestling. Not the rat in the 3rd row, or looking to take the edge off with a bottle of your favorite liquid courage. Not trying to sneak off somewhere to live out the words to famous songs by Eric Clapton, The Steve Miller Band or Afroman. My high is, was and will forever be about the match.

The performance. We've all been there. When everything clicks. When you make the crowd inch closer and closer to edge of their seat with a story crafted in theater made of steel, posts and ropes. When you can make them laugh, cry, cuss, rant, rave and rejoice by the perfect combination of athleticism and entertainment. When it doesn't matter if they are in the front row or the very back because they are all in the palm of your hand.

Its my addiction, my passion, my first love. Wrestling to some is a drug. We remember our firsts and lasts. Like a true drug addict we know the pain its caused but we don't care, we'd do it all again. Like a heroin addict remembering that high with a smile on his face. Once you're addicted then you're an addict for life. There is no "quitting", and if do manage to distance yourself from it, your thoughts are always geared about your next fix.

Although it isn't meant to really last. Just like any high eventually you have to come down. When you crash off a wrestling high you are smack dab in the middle of reality. With day jobs and bills, herniated discs and swollen joints. But pain is only temporary, glory last forever. Whether your at a day job, or with family sometimes its hard to scale back to normal. Isn't it? To quit being yourself with the volume turned to 10, to turn it down to 4 or 5.

You can't put it in a syringe, roll it up or snort it up. You have work to achieve it. You have learn a craft to get a high in my addiction. How many pot head you know that get high and actually feel like they had accomplished something. Like smoking pot paid off. I promise that's why my addiction is better than any other one out there and when "The Golden Boy" Greg Anthony makes a promise its as good as gold.

----Greg Anthony is a regular on the local area circuit. He won RRO Booker of the Year 2008 and is listed in the top 5 of the RRO Top 10 2008. Greg currently can be seen tagging with legend Bobby Eaton and Brian Thompson as “Midnight Gold” and is the EWE Champion.

A correction from yesterday in which we noted Kai Maiava, citing The LA Times, as a nephew of Dwayne Johnson. From Jim Varsallone of The Miami Herald: UCLA's Kai Maiava is the brother of former USC football player Kaluka Maiava. Note the different last name spelling to Maivia. I recall Kaluka Maiava at USC was not a blood relative per se to The Rock, but the story was he was related to The Rock. High Chief Peter Maivia and Neff Maiava were very good friends and billed as cousins or brothers, but they were not biologically related - just very good family friends/Samoans. I think Peter helped start Neff's career. He is younger than the former High Chief. I remember reading this. Unless there is other info.... I also remember writing something about it during last season's NFL draft. So the same would hold true then for Kai. Family friends but not related.

RassleResults: DCW "Thanksgiving Throwdown" Dyersburg, TN

24 Karat Challenge(Gauntlet Match):
Greg Anthony over Oz
Greg Anthony over Shannon Lee
Greg Anthony over Blaine Devine
Greg Anthony over JR Manson
Mike Sydal over Mark Sterling
Rockin' Randy/Dell Tucker over Picture Perfect to retain DCW Tag Titles
Tommy Redneck over Tim Edwards
Barbwire Match: DCW Champion Cody Melton/Derrick King over Stan Lee/Tatt2

Place looked really packed to me. Over 100. Maybe more...Golden Boy cheated to win every match in his gauntlet. During the tgb/JR Manson part the previous gauntlet members came out to cheer him on but tgb used their presence to his own advantage to distract the ref...Mark Sterling and Mike Sydal are from the Kansas City area, both are in great shape and put on a solid match...Picture Perfect's quest for the DCW tag titles were ended when Greg Anthony interfered, hitting CJ with one of the tag titles saying afterwards that "CJ isn't championship material" and he is going to find that out tomorrow night in Ripley for the EWE Championship...Tommy was able to outsmart Tim Edward by crawling under the ring and coming out on the opposite side to get a roll up victory on his larger than life opposition...There was quite a bit of blood and injuries in the main event. Jimmy Tidwell turned is back on Stan Lee and the rest of the DCW fan base when he low blowed Stan, hit Tatt2 with a set of bolt cutters that DK was using to try to escape the barbed wire hell allowing Cody to hit the back cracker on Tatt2 for the 1,2,3.
