Trouble with ASWF Building - Council Wrestles with Building
Newport, Ark. -
Tuckerman business owner David Walls advised the City Council Tuesday night that he is "definitely not dodging paying for this building," however, a paperwork issue has delayed the city's anticipated sale of the old Dollar General Building to Walls, who owns ASWF Wrestling.
The wrestling company owner has spent an estimated $38,000 rebuilding the inside of the facility and has plans to reface the front of the building to give it a completely new look, yet all plans are on hold until the city can obtain the necessary deeds, according to Walls.
"We agreed to buy the building in good faith when the title and everything was correct but the City of Tuckerman has only received a donation deed from the State of Arkansas which leaves Mr. Cordoza three years to come back and pay the taxes on it and take it back," he explained to the council.
"We've been trying to get this settled for five months but without a clear deed to this property, my lawyer and my banker will not let me go any farther."
The issue became tense when Mayor Everett King received permission from the council in the August meeting to send Walls a letter setting an Aug. 20 deadline to purchase the building or it was going to be shown to other prospects.
"I have a year-to-year lease but when I came in to pay my rent last month I was told, 'We're not accepting your money anymore until you get this straight.' So I'm here tonight to get this straight," said Walls."
"I would like to have a lease until this all this paperwork gets done. A year lease would be good and if we can get this straightened out in a year that would be great."
King, unaware the issue would be discussed Tuesday night, asked for the council to table the issue until the October meeting so he could provide them with further documentation, which Walls, whose lease is up in October, agreed to.
"We like that building. We've had a good business for two and a-half years and we haven't had any problems out of it. It has paid for itself. I just want to get this settled."
The council followed King's recommendation and tabled the issue until the October meeting.

Memphis Wrestling TV Ratings Wrapup 8.22, 8.29 and 9.05.09
----A little bit more than normal in the ratings, but the show has settled into .7 to 1.0 for most of the year. They did gain viewers from start to finish, but lost a few in the last quarter. The 3rd Quarter was the ratings winner and featured Brian Christopher/Koko Ware vs “Too Kool 2” [Tim Grind/Flex]. Christopher has been a ratings winner this year. Read the full report by clicking here.
8.22.09
Overall: 1.0 [16177 viewers]

Time Slot Winner – What Was Memphis Watching??
Care Bears/Strawberry Shortcake 2.3 [37251 viewers]
----As noted, it is just a normal rating with viewers going back and forth hoping to catch something they want to watch. I would give the 1st Quarter the winner quarter nod, because they only lost 4859 viewers after that quarter. The first quarter featured Bobby Eaton vs Jerry Lawler in a classic bout. It also had Pokerface vs Mucho Dinero [Tatt2] from last year's Delta Fair. [My favorite TV bout from last year.]The last quarter drop to only retain half of the viewers. Vicious and Pokerface beat up Williams and C-Money with Money not being able to participate in his tag match later. Not sure if C-Money/Williams were in the ring to wrestle or not??...Tucker challenged McClarity to a NO DQ – Falls Count Anywhere match, but McClarity would not accept…They are promoting September 18th as “Fan Appreciation Night” with tickets the same price. It is also the 15th Anniversary of MCW. Wow!! Main event will be Pokerface/Sid Vicious vs Lord Humongous/Scott Hall.

Iron Jake Johnson w/Pimpin' Antoin Smooth defeated Devin Devine.
Curly Moe w/Dirty Rell Moe vs. Jay Webster was thrown out when Smooth, Inc. interfered, Apparently Curly Moe has joined forces with Smooth, Inc.
Cassanova Kid defeated Brian SoFine.
EPW Extreme Champion Kilo Green defeated Omega to retain the belt.
Revolution (Cyrus & Chazz Stone) vs. Smooth, Inc. (Iron Jake, Rajah, & Curly Moe w/Antoin Smooth & Dirty Rell Moe) ended up being thrown out - no winner. Revolution was supposed to have a "mystery partner," but he had not arrived when the match started, so Revolution faced Smooth, Inc. one man short. This match turned into a fight and was thrown out. Toward the end of the match the mystery partner arrived wearing a mask and eventually was revealed to be Buzz Harley. Harley is apparently back in EPW.
The next event was supposed to have been EPW Tag Team Champions Pure Destruction (Cody & Brody Hawk) vs. 24/7 (Kross & JR Mauler). However, before the match started, 24/7 came to the ring and Kross announced that he is retiring from wrestling because of complications from injuries he received months ago. So 24/7 is history. Kross also announced that he has been appointed Commissioner of EPW, and as his first act as Commissioner he was making a change to the match with Pure Destruction, and was going to substitute another team to go against PD. Pure Destruction, who had been running their mouths and mocking Kross to that point said no way, but Kross said he now had the authority and the match would happen. So it was Pure Destruction vs. The Asylum (Psycho & Pappy) with the Tag Team belts on the line. The match quickly deteriorated into a complete brawl that went all over the place. Both teams were counted out - no winners. They continued to brawl for about 10 minutes before finally going to the back. Just when we thought order had been restored back through the curtain they came and brawled for a while longer. Wild wild wild!
Main event was EPW Champion Bonecrusher vs. JR Mauler (for the belt) in another match set up by new EPW Commissioner, Kross. JR Mauler was winner by DQ due to interference by Justin Rhodes, who had been sitting in the crowd for the past two weeks, claiming that he had been fired from EPW. Justin & Bonecrusher were in the process of beating JR down when Big Daddy Neno ran in to make the save. Out came Pure Destruction and once again we had a brawl which a number of people were involved in before it was over.
Kross announced that JR Mauler & "Big Daddy" Neno would face Bonecrusher and Justin Rhodes this Saturday night, 9-12-09. He also announced that Pure Destruction would defend the Tag Team belts once again against The Asylum this Saturday, 9-12. EPW has stepped things up a notch - in fact, several notches - so don't miss the event this Saturday night at the EPW Arena in Booneville. Bell time is 8:00. You never know what's going to happen at EPW!

There are about 89 fans in the crowd tonight for the last EWE show until Super Summer Showdown.
Hardcore Yao def. Gunner Thompson via pinfall.
"The Future" Dell Tucker and "Girl Candy" Christian Jacobs have their match next. Commissioner Chris O'Neal comes out and announces that 60% of the fans on EliteWrestlingEntertainment.com requested that this match be a No Disqualification match. He also says that since this is a no DQ match, if Jacobs would hand him the chair he has in his hands, that O'Neal will sit in his corner and if K.C. Gold comes out, then he'll get involved. After a vicious blow to the head with a chair, Christian Jacobs scores the victory against Dell Tucker. After the match, Jacobs spears Tucker. Commissioner O'Neal comes back into the ring and says that they should make Christian Jacobs "Chairman" of the board. He also says that he accepted a match between Jacobs and "The Golden Boy" Greg Anthony. He also announces that Bishop will take on Derrick King, J.R. Manson will take on Jon Michael, and Dustin "Five" Starr will meet Stan Lee for the EWE Heavyweight Championship. O'Neal then runs down the rest of the results from voting during the day. He says that J.R. Manson and Jon Michael will face each other tonight in a Dog Food Match, Bishop and Stan Lee will face each other in a Last Man Standing match, and Seth Knight will face Dustin Starr for the EWE Heavyweight Championship. If Knight wins, then it will be him facing Stan Lee at Super Summer Showdown.
"Dynamite" Seth Knight comes to the ring and gets ready for his title match against Dustin "Five" Starr. Starrs music hits, but is quickly interrupted by Bishop. He says that everyone thought that they were going to see a title match tonight. Bishop says that Starr has a match next week, and he doesn't want to waste his time on anyone like Knight. Bishop then leaves, but Knight is then confronted by "The Real Deal" Tim Edwards. Edwards says that him and Knight have some unfinished business, and that the two of them have a match later tonight.
A phone interview with Derrick King is now conducted. While we couldn't hear all of what was said, the point was very clear. Derrick King challenges Bishop to a Street Fight at Super Summer Showdown next week. King also invites the fans to bring whatever weapon they would like to see King attack Bishop with.
The match between "The Real Deal" Tim Edwards and "Dynamite" Seth Knight will end in a double disqualification when both men took the match outside of the ring. After the bell rings, Edwards continues to assault Knight. Knight was assisted to the back by security and the referee.
J.R. Manson and Jon Michael make their way to the ring for their match. The fans voted for a Dog Food Match, where the loser has to eat dog food. Michael grabs the mic and says that the doctors say he shouldn't be wrestling and that he needs surgery, but he has the Good Man upstairs and all the EWE fans behind him. He says that he promised everyone that he'll be at Super Summer Showdown to defeat Manson, and he'll do just that. Michael then says that if he loses to Manson, then he will bow out of the EWE and let Manson run with the ball. Manson grabs the mic and says that when he beats Michael next week, then not only will Michael leave wrestling, but he will also become his personal slave. Michael agrees to the terms and the match gets underway. Manson grabs his silver case and attempts to throw a powder at Michael, but the referee stops it. As the referee goes to dispose of the powder, Manson grabs the case and hits Michael with it. The referee turns around in time to see it, and disqualifies Manson and gives Jon Michael the win via disqualification. Manson tries to make his way to the back, but Michael grabs the mic and says that the fans voted, and that Manson is going to eat some dog food. The crowd starts to bark as the dog food is placed in the middle of the ring. Michael grabs Manson by the hair and drags him in the ring and puts his face at the plate of dog food, but Tim Edwards comes and attacks Michael. Both men send Michael to the mat, but Manson will grab the dog food and smear it all over Michaels face before the two attack him again. EWE owner Dustin Baker comes to ringside and makes a motion for some help, and Stan Lee and Christian Jacobs come to Michaels aid. Jon Michael grabs the mic and says that Manson robbed the fans of what they wanted to see. He says that Manson may break his arm and his spirit, but he will break Manson's ass next week.
Dustin Baker comes back to the ring to make a brief announcement concerning Super Summer Showdown. Due to the forecast of bad weather, Super Summer Showdown will be held inside the EWE arena instead of the park. He reminds everyone that the show will still be free and that fans may arrive at the arena as early as they wish.
The Last Man Standing match between Bishop and Stan Lee will end in a double countout as both men could not answer the count of 10. After the match is officially called, Bishop grabs a table from ringside and sets it up in the middle of the ring. Stan Lee gains enough energy to attack Bishop and puts him on the table. Lee goes to the top rope and splashes Bishop on top of the table, breaking it in half. Both men lay lifeless in the middle of the ring until help arrives to assist the wrestlers to the back.
CORRECTION FROM VIDEO: Super Summer Showdown will start at 7:00PM, not at the usual 8:00PM bell time.
I am very pleased to announce that Elite Wrestling Entertainment is the first independent wrestling organization in the Mid-South to upload every match every week in High Definition! Visit www.elitewrestlingentertainment.com for full HD videos of these matches, and all future matches!

----The show finished with a 15% increase from last week’s debut show. The show opened with a good quarter and then dropped again in the second quarter. If they can just retain some of their audience the show would settle in at the same number as Memphis Wrestling. BTW, Memphis did a .8 [12958 viewers] overall.

Monday Conversation with Garry White
Garry White and D-Rock
---Garry White is not a stranger to this area. His son Kevin White along with himself were mainstays on Memphis Wrestling when they aired originally programming. White has been a wrestling fan for years and was one of the few SMART people I could talk to at the matches during the Coach BT era. Mr. White sat down via e-mail to talk with us Monday morning for a new monthly feature "Conversation".
So, you were there when Sammy Hall arrived Sunday night for the Memphis Wrestling show in Tupelo. How did all the controversy start?
First Sammy Hall and Wayne Blaylock did show up. Sammy was drunk as a skunk. Heard he showed up at Charlie Parks show and told them if he could wrestle, he would waive the license and taxes. Sammy was so drunk, he couldn't even write the license out, hell I think our ref, Kellen James ended up doing that , so we could get the show started. He picks his shows
How did Corey Maclin handle the situation?
I will say this for Cory Maclin, yes he gave them a check but Sammy kept holding the show up, he was suppose to start at 6 but he held it up until 7, Cory got in his face and told him in these words " I am the type of man that will reach in your pocket, get my check and run this show anyways, now get the fuck out of my dressing room."
What are your thoughts on the Mississippi Athletic Commission?
Also in my opinion, The Mississippi Athletic department is a joke. All your other commissions in various states offer you more than just a piece of paper, when you buy a license in other states, you have a physician or have to be checked by a doctor, you get life insurance (not much) but you do get it. Mississippi you get a piece of paper and that’s all. I remember when Mississippi had decent deputy commissioners, Lonnie Broadway and even Old Man Billy was both good commissioners. Sammy Hall is a joke! How in the hell can a commissioner work for a wrestling promotion and still do business as a commissioner? He actually considers himself a wrestler, because of the promotions that let him get in the ring and wrestle.
How did Hall end up wrestling or working for promotions??
When Robert Gibson was running Columbus MS a few years back, Robert let him be the wrestling commissioner for the company, Never was a license ever mentioned then. I don't blame Robert because he got out of paying the Athletic Commission, good for him but he created a monster in Sammy Hall. Now Sammy Hall is a wrestler???? Damn now we wonder why so many of the older wrestlers are so damn bitter of the business. It’s because of the scum that are allowed to enter the dressing rooms and call themselves wrestlers. Sammy Hall came into our dressing room in Tupelo smelling like a brewery, he couldn't even write the license out. He delayed our show by an hour because he wasn't capable of doing his job.
VOICE YOUR OPINION ON MS COMMISSION AND SAMMY HALL ON THE KAYFABE MESSAGE BOARD!!
Wrestling and Celebreality Star Matt Riviera Ready to “Old School” Opponent in Russellville Event
----Shannon Rose [original subscriber to the fanzine Rasslin Riot] sent along the following into www.wrestlezone.com. It is a well written story on RRO 2009 Horizon Award nominee front runner Matt Riviera.
Wrestling and Celebreality Star Matt Riviera Ready to “Old School” Opponent in Russellville Event
(Russellville, AR) – A combination of professional wrestling and the bright lights of national TV stardom will descend on Russellville on September 12, as hometown boy-made good Matt Riviera headlines a special wrestling event that will benefit local charity.
Mid-South Wrestling is putting on the card, dubbed “Russellmania,” which features celebreality star Riviera, a Russellville native, taking on TNA Superstar “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal.
Riviera, who recently charmed and wowed audiences on VH1 while starring in one of the network’s reality shows, is a self-proclaimed “old school” wrestler and is chomping at the bit to show off his acclaimed skills in front of a hometown crowd.
“It’s time to ‘old school’ these ‘new school’ pretenders,” Riviera said recently about his opponent, the colorful “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal. “And it will be even more fun to do so in front of my friends and family and fans,” Riviera added.
“I’m true old school. Lethal’s a cheap imitation,” Riviera says of his match.
Riviera is not only a pro wrestling star and VH1 sensation; he also produces movies and acts.
In addition to the headliner featuring Riviera, the card contains an International Title Match between champion The Atomic Dogg and challenger Tim Storm.
There’s also a ladies’ match pitting Malia Hosaka and “The Goddess of Wrestling” Athena.
“Nature Boy” Buddy Landel returns to the ring, and others in action will include Jeff Jett, Prince Al Farat, and many more.
The event is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of the Arkansas River Valley.
“Russellville did a lot for me,” Riviera says, “so I want to do something in return.”
Riviera didn’t stop there.
“Can’t disappoint the ladies, either!,” Riviera says of his adoring female following that is sure to be out in full force.
The action takes place on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8:00 p.m. at LV Williamson Boys & Girls Club in Russellville.
Ticket prices range from $5-20, with kids ages 5 and under getting in for free.
For more information about Mid-South wrestling, visit their website at www.traditionalwrestling.com.
Advanced tickets can be purchased at LV Williamson Boys & Girls Club and at Taco Villa, both in Russellville.

The Golden Circle "At Home In A Locker Room" by Greg Anthony
When most people start a new job there is that first awkwardness. That uncomfortable silence of when you don't know what kind of people you're working with. Way be for you find your mutual likes and dislikes. I mean heaven forbid you be a cardinals fan and your boss is die hard cubs, right? I've honestly never had this feeling in a pro wrestling locker room.
Any locker room I walk into those 15-16 guys or 47 if your at a DK show, I know we all have at least one thing in common. A common thread that can get the ball rolling on any conversation. Now nobody agrees 100% of the time but at least we can agree we love wrestling. Some don't love wrestling at present but they loved it more than anything at one time in their lives. Why else would they be here?
Since I've had the opportunity to tag with Bobby Eaton on a regular basis, I've found myself in new locker rooms. With some guys I've worked with before but others I've only heard about. In any other business situation this might cause some anxiety but in pro wrestling I really see it as another opportunity. To share like stories of how we broke it, people we enjoy working with or those we don't.
In Mississippi I got to work with Tony Dabbs. Nice guy who really impressed me in ring. One of those guys that you can just grab and go. In Fort Smith, Arkansas we worked with Jeff Jett and Matt Riviera. Jeff was fun to work with and isn't afraid to push the limits. Matt showed off some charisma and defiantly had his ducks in a row when came to running a promotion.
Midnight Gold has be shown a lot of hospitality and want to take this time to say thank you to everyone involved. Wrestling can be a jealous business but its nice to see lockerooms looking out for each other and not themselves. I believe I can speak for Bobby and Brian when I say we have felt at home in some of these locker rooms.
So Thank you!
----Greg Anthony is a regular on the local area circuit. He won RRO Booker of the Year 2008 and is listed in the top 5 of the RRO Top 10 2008. Greg is currently working as booker of NEW and can be seen tagging with legend Bobby Eaton and Brian Thompson as “Midnight Gold”.

Memphis Wrestling TV Report 9.05.09
Corey Maclin kicked off the show talking on the phone with "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart about all the action that was going to take place at the Delta Fair.
Classic Footage featuring The Moondogs in action: The first match featured The Moondogs with some lovely lady defeating Kevin White and El Poncho with a double pin after striking both with a wooden board. September 13, 2003 was the date of this match. The next clip was from October 18, 2003, when The Moondogs faced Flex and Alex Krisis. The Moondogs ended up knocking the referee out.
Corey Maclin plugged Memphis Wrestling being at the Tupelo Fair.
Video with Jerry "The King" Lawler talking about the Delta Fair. Lawler stated, "Crime is probley the number one reason why the Mid-South Fair and people, in general, have left Memphis. "They just don't feel safe." Lawler added, "There's roughly 679,000 Memphians in the city of Memphis and only 2,000 police officers. Now, common sense will tell you, that's not enough. That's roughly one police officer for every 350 citizens. We need more police on the streets. We need policeman that the community can trust. Whether you've actually been touched by crime or not. Whether you've actually been a victim or not, we're all victims of crime. It robs us of our sense of security. It robs us of our feeling of safety. It robs the city of its livability. And that's one of the main reasons that I'm in this race for mayor. It's one of the main reasons that I'm running. We need somebody that is gonna be tough on crime. And you know, I've been known, all my life, to be a pretty tough guy. I'm damn sure I'm gonna be tough on crime if I'm elected. Lawler noted that A.C. Wharton, back in 1980, took over the Public Defender's Office, defending criminals and putting them back on the streets. Lawler said he has a comprehensive crime plan that you can read at JerryLawler2009.com or LawlerforMayor.com.
Opening the Vaults featuring a match between Jerry "The King" Lawler and Lord Humongous with "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart in his corner. Lawler wrestled the opening moments of the match, wearing a Lord Humongous mask until Hugo pulled it off. Hugo was punishing Lawler until, Jerry kicked the big man down low to escape a cobra clutch. The strap came down and Lawler ripped the mask off of Humongous. Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart tried to get in the ring, but was cutoff and chased by "The Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol, who had a baseball bat. Meanwhile, Ox Baker jumped in, attacking Lawler. Hugo put the mask back on. Hugo held Lawler while Baker hit him with the heart punch. Eddie Marlin came in, but got knocked down. Baker and Hart put the boots to Marlin. That trips me out when Jimmy Hart starts kicking folks. It's like he's going a hundred miles an hour and trying to put out a fire or something. Austin Idol ran back in with the bat to clear the ring. Hugo, Baker, and Hart tried another attack on Marlin, but Idol stopped them, again.
Corey spoke with "Dirty" Dutch Mantel about facing Lawler at the Delta Fair.
More classic action featuring "Dirty" Dutch Mantel in a 6-Man Tag, teaming with Stagger Lee and Terry Taylor facing The Bruise Brothers, (Jake, Elwood/Porkchop Cash and Mad Dog) managed by "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart.
Corey stated that as far as he knows, the Delta Fair show is the last event of the year that's totally free.
Footage from last year's Delta Fair with Derrick King and Johnny Dotson, accompanied by Rashard Devon defeated Los Locos (Ramon and Raul) when Derrick rolled up Ramon in the corner with a little extra added assistance from the ropes.
More from "The King" as Lawler talked about the Delta Fair and the debate from a couple weeks ago. Jerry admitted he was a little flustered sitting next to Prince Mongo. Lawler added, "I mean, most of you people saw what this guy looked like, but seeing him was bad enough. But you saw him on television. Well, I saw him in smellevision. I mean, I'm telling ya, the guy smelled like a goat! I guess he hadn't bathed in like a month! It's the truth! And I'm sitting like two feet away from the guy! It was unbelievable!" Jerry discussed that if elected, he would like to be an ambassador for Memphis on WWE's Monday Night Raw on the USA Network, in order to travel to other cities, promoting Memphis on a worldwide scale. Lawler said he wants to market Memphis like a WWE Superstar and sell Memphis to the world and being on that worldwide television would help bring tourism and industries to the city.
Video from this year's AutoZone Park event with Buff "The Stuff" Bagwell vs Jerry "The King" Lawler-Rocky The Redbird tripped Buff. While Buff was distracted by Rocky, Lawler rolled him up with a schoolboy to get the win.
Corey Maclin wrapped up the show, talking to "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart about the Delta Fair.

RassleResults: ASWF Tuckerman 8.05.09
Our show started off the same way it does every Saturday night with Rickey Roland handing our nations flag to local kids and playing the national anthem.
At the beginning of the show LSD's Cody Only, Idol Bane, and Deadly Dale would take to the ring. They would begin talking about how good it was to have the entire LSD Team back together in the ASWF. Just as they were getting to their point Cody Murdoch would come out and begin distracting LSD so that X-Kaliber and Tommy Wayne could sneak up from behind and attack LSD. X-Kaliber would challenge them to a match later in the evening to a Six-Man Tag Match.
Tonight's first match would be a one fall match. Joshua Cross would take on Seth Sabor. Sabor would begin on a note but the tide would soon turn as Cross would pick up some momentum. He would wear down Sabor until he would perform a Moonsault from the top rope. Cross would win the match via pinfall.
Just when the night was getting started Johnny Hawk and Danger Zone's Johnny Harper and David Cox would take to the ring. Hawk would announce that tonight we would have a new champion due to Casino loosing his Title in Texarkana. Hawk would tell the new champion to come forward. When the music started playing, it turned out to be ASWF Hall of Famer The Midnight Special. But when Midnight Special came to the ring he removed his mask to show that he was really Demon X. Hawk would call the Commissioner to the ring and make an open challenge. Johnny Harper would answer that challenge. The New Commissioner Ricky Rowland would tell them that if anyone was caught cheating in the match that the title would be awarded to the other contender. And that Hawk and Danger Zone were to stay in one corner only.
Our second match tonight would be for none other than the ASWF Championship. Demon X would take on Johnny Harper. As you have already guessed, Johnny Harper would not be at a fair advantage. During the match Johnny Hawk would come in and attack Johnny Harper while the referee was distracted with Danger Zone. When the referee turned around Demon X would have Harper in a pin and get the 1, 2, 3. Just as Demon X was celebrating, Commissioner Rowland would come out and reverse the referees decision. He stated that he saw Hawk interfere and that the new champion by disqualification would be Johnny Harper.
The third match was just as exciting as the last. The Irish Dragon would take on ASWF Original The Enforcer. The Enforcer would get off to a great start and not let go of control. Even with Scott Fury holding the titles he has held it was no match for the experiance of The Enforcer. When you thought it possibly couldn't get any worse for Fury, Vinny Ramano would come out waving an Italian Flag. He would use the end of the flag to hit Fury in the throat. The Enforcer would roll Fury up for a pin and get the 1, 2, 3.
Our Feature Match would be Christopher Lee going mano y mano with The Italian Luchador Vinny Ramano. (No pun intended) Lee would start off really great taking control of the match early. During the match Ramano would begin to use unfair tactics to out play his opponent. Ramano would eventually hit the referee and be disqualified. After he was disqualified Fury would take off to the ring in a dead run. Security and Wrestlers alike would rush to the ring to seperate Fury and Ramano. After the two were finally seperated they were sent to the back. It seems like there is no love loss between The Irish Dragon and The Italian Luchador.
The Semi-Main Match of the evening would be Danger Zone (David Cox/John Ellison) taking on 1/2 of the ASWF Tag Team Champions Kalaiki in a non-title Handicap Match. Mark Wolf would be out due to an injury sustained at the hands of Danger Zone, so Kalaki would have to fend for himself. Ellison and Cox would take over the match in full fury. Cox would finally pin Kalaiki and get the win.
Our Main Event Match was a 6-Man Tag Match. LSD (Cody Only/Idol Bane/Deadly Dale) would take on X-Kaliber, Tommy Wayne, and Cody Murdoch. Murdoch would prove to be a huge asset to his team. However they would be nothing more than a stepping stone to LSD. They would perform their Death Drop and get the pin taking home tonight's victory.

Stacy Carter and Lawler on the Same Show?!!
----This was reported on www.wrestlingobserver.com on Saturday. Carter was contacted, but made no comment.

Arena Report: Down South Championship Wrestling Jonesboro, AR 9.05.09
Jazz and Rodney Mack
“We just moved on, that’s what we do – we are wrestlers.” Jazz
----The “ReBirth” or more like the “re-tooling” of wrestling in Jonesboro, AR started on Saturday night with the debut of Down South Championship Wrestling. This was pretty much the same crew as the night RWA closed its door minus Frank Martin and his sound system. The building has changed with no bleachers and over 200 chairs on the floor. The dressing room area is HUGE with even an office area. They are still working on it, but the changes seem to be good and the crew seems to be happy to be back together.
----The comments back stage ranged about the Frank Martin situation. From “I am just here to wrestle, I am not into the wrestling politics” To “I never really had a problem with Frank” to “Frank was an asshole – he thought he was better than everyone else.” I think this first show will be the only time that Martin even matters. And as Jazz said, the wrestlers just move on with life. They all have to have a place to work and behind the leadership of Rodney Mack [no different than when working for Frank], this group will survive.
----Before I post the actually results and the happenings of the show, let me preface this by saying that none of the matches were designed to be GREAT matches. They were booked to put over the new storylines and to make the 175+ that attended to want to come back next week and the next. For those that strive to have four or five star matches, I salute you and I do enjoy them. But, it is also important sometime to spend time to get over new storylines and have the groundwork down for the future. That is what this show was all about.
Down South Championship Wrestling 9.05.09
----The show started when Rodney Mack’s music hit. I have said this here before, but no one in this area is over like Mack as a babyface. Mack is ginormously over!! The barking and cheering is almost so loud that it is “thick” in the air. Mack, with Rick Ruby [Mack trainee], went around the ring and into the crowd. He got on the mic and thanked everyone for coming out and welcomed them back to wrestling and to DCW. Mack left the ring.
----DCW champion Ron McClarity came out for an interview with his bodyguard The Boss [big young kid – Mack trainee]. McClarity did a good interview talking about being the champ. They both ended up jumping Rick Ruby. Mack made the save with two big spears!! Main event was made for later in the show.
----Ron “by God” Rage with Raven beat Lavert. Not much of a match. Lavert was not that good, but did have a pretty side kick. Rage dominated most of the match trying to establish himself as a heel again. The crowd actually cheered him though and I heard, “kick his ass Rage” a couple of times. LOL Finish had Rage hit him with a flying loaded forearm pad. [*]
----“Soultrain” Jones beat Logan Fury. Jones came out to “PYT” by Michael Jackson and got a big pop. I love Fury’s music! What is it?? Solid bout from these two guys. Both guys still a little green. Jones has some just pure raw athletic ability that will one day be tunneled to make a real good worker. Logan is small but moves around with confidence. Fury started the heat with an eye rake. Jones made his comeback with a gorilla slam into a powerslam for the pin and win. [*1/2]
----Jazz came out for an interview and got a big pop also. The microphone was really bad. A lot of times in the night, you could not tell what the people were saying. Jazz introduced Brittany Star and Patricia to the crowd. They were out there to put over the start of an all girls show starting on 10.02.09 in the building. Jazz left them to put themselves over, when the heel ladies came out – Lady V [Ms Vicki], Rave, Angel-Lena and Dominique. Dominique did the mic work [couldn’t understand a lot, but fans hate her]. The heel girls ended up jumping the faces with Jazz making the save with a big pop. Segment seemed to drag a bit, but it might have been because you could not understand what Dominique was saying.
----Pokerface beat John Allen. This was the best pure wrestling bout on the show. Poker works more of a strong style with just stiff looking moves. Heat started when Poker went for 10-punch count and Allen hit him with a reverse spinebuster. Allen did a springboard leg stomp that looked pretty. Allen is still green. Allen used the figure-4 on Poker. Perfect psychology. Allen missed a springboard stomp. Poker finished him off with a “ghetto blaster” for the win. [**1/2]
----JD Kerry vs “Mexican Assassin” Tejano Kid with Dominique was declared no contest. Match did start out like it was going to be good. Kerry put Kid in a Fujiwara armbar and then they were interrupted by Pokerface walking out. As Poker had their attention, Sid Vicious walked in thru the front door. [POB style] As he got closer to the ring, the crowd recognized him and he got a pop. Vicious powerbombed Kid for a big pop. Then he went after Kerry. Crowd started to turn against him a little here. He powerbombed Kerry – very high in the air and then Poker turned by putting the boots to Kerry. Poker tells everyone that Vicious is the “Rule of the World!!!” The announcer Biscuit comes down to talk to Poker and Vicious about the 19th when Vicious and Poker will face Lord Humongous and Scott Hall. Biscuit did a great job here putting over Hall. He then called out Lord Humongous. Humongous stood face to face with Vicious – same height, but not as wide. Huey ends up pushing both Vicious/Poker down at the same time in a test of strength sending them out of the ring. Vicious puts over the fact that Poker and him will destroy Hall/Huey on the 19th and that it is just a stop on his goal to be at Wrestlemania. A real good angle.
----Blalok the Blazer and Mike Anthony, collectively known as “Dynasty”, came out for an interview. You could barely understand Blazer. [because of the mic] “Natural Born Playas” [Pimptacular/Southside Brawler] came out to accept their challenge for next week. “Playas” got a pop. “Playas” sent Blalok/Anthony into the ropes, but they held on and left. I am assuming they are feuding over the tag straps, because doesn’t “Playas” have the belts??
----DCW Title Match: Ron McClarity with The Boss and Angel-Lena beat “Redd Dawg” Rodney Mack. Mack in shorts with no knee pads or boots – shooter style. Just basic stuff to get the match going. Crowd was into it – it was Mack. Solid work – perfect psychology. A quick pin by using the ropes before Mack made his comeback. Heels try to beat up Mack, but Ruby makes save. Ruby/Mack beat up the ref – crowd goes home happy. [**]
NOTES
----Almost the whole crew got pops coming out – even the heels. The crowd was happy to have wrestling back…A small guy like Logan Fury against Jones – just the eye rake does not always sell it for me. It is ok for Jones to miss a move or Fury to take out a leg to start the heat. Jones also needs to come out of heat with more fire…This group is in Truman, AR on 18th…Monday nights at Electric Cowboy in Jonesboro, AR with start time of 10:00 PM. You have to be over 18 years old for that show…First intermission was around 7:35 PM with a 7:00 PM start time. Next match was not until 8:05 PM. Long intermission, but there was a lot going on backstage with Vicious arriving…Angel-Lena has improved with her look. She looks like a lady wrestler now and had a lot of confidence when she was out. Her move to working with Jazz has helped her a lot…Announcer’s desk is behind the ring high in the air ala ECW’s crow’s nest…Poker is easily the best overall worker on this roster, but all the veteran guys like McClarity and Rage round out a good crew. .. Kerry is easily the top pick for 2009 Rookie of the Year. His mannerisms and facial expressions are real good. Some veterans don’t have that down yet. He gets it that it is not all about the moves, but the whole package…I hate it when guys call themselves “Kid” and they over 30. Why can’t he be the Tejano MAN?? Lol…I had the chance to talk with Jazz about the All Girl show and she seems to be excited about it. It will give the girls a place to work and she is hoping it will draw. They will have three shows in the Jonesboro area when it gets started, so it will be interesting to see if there will be fan support. ..Humongous is Sid’s 16 year old son Gunner Eudy. Gunner, as mentioned, is huge!! He took his mask off backstage and he has a face that will make him money as a babyface down the road….Got to give a pat on the back to both Ron Rage and Mack here. It would have been perfect to put Rage with Vicious, since they are POB. Mack could have easily tagged with Hall. Why didn’t they?? Both guys are over and don’t need a rub from anyone. Poker will get a rub in a major main event on the 19th and if done right can set him up as Mack’s next big opponent. ..Arkansas State University’s Red Wolves football had their season opener on Saturday night. I was told around 20,000 people attended that game. Good news for DCW - #1: they still drew more than anyone in the area and #2: If there are 20,000 people that are willing to pay to see something, then the potential of having 500-1000 people to see wrestling every week is not out of the range. ..I really don’t like seeing faces beat up refs. That fact and the sound needs some work is my only major criticism of this group….They had some professional made posters and already had posters of the 19th posted.

-Austin Lane beat Justin Smart in a submission match.
-Eric Wayne beat Dan Matthews
-Loser of the Fall Leaves NEW vs $2,000 – Josh Carney/Kid Nikels beat “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony/Allen Steele when Carney pinned TGB.
----60 in the crowd – probably their biggest crowd for a regular show…Carney had won the$2,000 bounty collected for beating Kid, but Kid has now taken him under his wing. Kid chokeslammed TGB three times and put Carney on top for the win…Downtown Bruno was the ref…I look for TGB to be in DCW [Dyersburg] on Fridays. He also will be picking up more “Gold” dates…I am still not sold on the Carney idea, but it looks like they are getting a bigger crowd and I have been told they pop huge for Carney when he wins…As mentioned to me by a few workers, Smart deserves a nod in the Most Underrated Category. ..Steele left Kid/Carney laying after the match.

IWA TV Report 9.05.09
----Jason Hall opens the show holding IWA United States Title. The audio does seem to be better.
----“Big CA” Carnage Antwane comes out for an interview. Audio was much clearer. Not bad interview from Antwane. He challenges The A.N.T. [Amazing Natural Talent]. Ant comes to accept the challenge. Dre Black then comes out and says he will be tagging with Antwane. Armageddon comes out with Victor Reed comes out to be Ant’s tag partner.
----CA/Dre Black vs Armo/Ant. There was little psychology. Almost double heat, but I am not sure they knew they were doing it. Armo is a big guy and looked good in his role.
Armo ended it with a chokeslam on CA. Not good.
----This was the first match of the US Title Tourney with Cymba with Victor Reed vs Malik “The Great”. Cymba used a suplex reverse face plant kinda of thing that should have been the finish. Cymba kept having Malik in a pinning position, but not pinning him. If he is in a tournament for a belt, then why does he not pin him to advance? Headbutt from second rope from Cymba and Malik kicks out. No way! Malik comes from the dead with a dropkick and a Pele type kick he calls the “Trouble In Paradise”. He goes to the top and Reed pushes him of in front of ref and Malik wins by DQ. Not great, not good..but not horrible.
----“Aslyum” [Psycho/Pappy] vs Suicide/"The Samoan Savage" Samoan Raja. “Asylum” go after them before the bell. Pretty much a squash. Raja does nothing but chops – horrible. Suicide does a good job here taking a double arm bar slam and various double team kicks and moves. Pappy tripped at one point. Suicide gets a swinging DDT for one spot and then “Fall from Grace” finisher to end it. Syn/DJ Stunner jump Asylum after the bout. I thought Syn/DJ were babys?? They were using chairs also?? “Full Scale Assault” [Xander Raines/Jason Steele] jump in after that. Psycho starts whipping every one with chairs, which looked brutal. He hit Raja three times and I thought he killed him. Raja actually comes back from this and nails Xavier Raines.
----Precious comes out for an interview. He asks what the US Title is?? If they are supposed to be having a big tournament shouldn’t everyone know what the belt is?? Sniper comes out to get on the mic to challenge Precious. Precious got some good punches and kicks in. Announcers were totally overacting here - it sounded like a couple of little girls screaming. Not a good bout, but Precious was bumping all over the place for Sniper. Sniper never takes a good beating – not enough of just basic psychology here. Precious uses a chain to pin Sniper.
----“S&S” Syn/DJ Stunner vs “Full Scale Assault” [Xander Raines/Jason Steele]. Steele with some horrible chops…Double team moves from S&S. Pretty dropkick from DJ to Steele. Heat on Syn. A double team move from FSA with a legdrop from Xander and a rolling senton from Steele. Raines looks like a short PN News. LOL Syn hit a flying head scissors for the DKO and hot tag. Match turns into fustercluck and then Asylum run in to finish everyone off.
NOTES
----I like Ant. Not bad on the mic. Needs some work in the ring, but has potential…Not a big crowd…Audio was much better. Jason Hall was a bit toned down and Eddie Spain is ok as an announcer. They both totally overact on stuff like simple chokeholds. They also need to understand; no matter if you are a heel or babyface announcer, you got to get over the product, not yourself. And just because Hall is a heel, doesn’t mean he can not put over some of the babyface talent and vice versa…V-Man, who has worked various promotions in this area, is playing the role of Armageddon. He does a good job doing the old Lord Humongous/Jason gimmick...Malik is sooo small and still green in spots…They put over the fact that last night at “Deception” S&S had won the tag straps and all three teams in the angle on TV were wanting the belts. “Asylum” did look better in role of just kicking everyone’s ass on the show…They really need at least 2 camera shoot. The stuff in with Asylum would have been sooo much better, if there would have been a camera in the ring…Hall put over that Precious’ match at “Deception” was a [*****] “Five Star Wrestling match” Nah, I don’t think so. LOL…Main event was the best match…The show did not have anything just GREAT on it and some of the stuff was bad, but it was way better than last week’s show. They still need to tweek the audio and put it thru so that the TV audience hears the announcers clearer. In reality, the crowd does not have to hear the announcers – the TV audiences are the ones that need to hear them….Tapings are held every Saturday at 2:00pm at the IWA Arena, located at 1225 State Line Road in Southaven, Mississippi. The building is located right beside Sonic and across the street from Dale's. FREE Admission!...This group’s next big show is “Fall Out” on 9.25.09…Thanks to D-Rock for his help with all the names.

Memphis Wrestling TV Report 8.29.09
----D-Rock posted the following over @ www.wrestlingnewscenter.com about last week's Memphis show.
Corey Maclin was joined by Jerry "The King" Lawler, again, this week. Lawler said he's been on Memphis Wrestling on Saturday mornings for about thirty-eight years. Lawler said he will never forget the first day he was on Memphis Wrestling when he drew some pictures and sent them over to Lance Russell and Dave Brown at Channel 13. They called him and asked if he would like to come up and be on the show.
Opening the Vaults of Memphis Classic Wrestling with Jerry "The King" Lawler taking on "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton, who had "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart in his corner. Eaton jabbed Lawler in the stomach with a chair, while Hart distracted the ref. Crowd got behind "The King" as they chanted, "Go, Jerry, go!" Lawler fought back and delivered a suplex, but before he could make the pin, Duke Myers, Jim Cornette, and Jimmy Hart hit the ring, attacking Lawler. Eaton, Myers, Hart, and Cornette put the boots to Lawler. When Eaton, Hart, and Cornette left, Lawler fought back against Myers and flipped him into the turnbuckle, clearing the ring.
Some footage from last year's Delta Fair, featuring Mucho Dinero defeating Pokerface with Rashard Devon, when one of Dinero's lady friends distracted Pokerface only to slap him setting him up for a Dinero hurricanrana and rollup for the three count.
Talk turned to Jerry Lawler's candidacy for Memphis Mayor. Lawler said they have two websites, LawlerforMayor.com and JerryLawler2009.com, where if people wanna help, they can go on through paypal and donate. Lawler added, "To me, what would be greatly appreciative is like a five or ten dollar donation." Lawler said he needs to be in office to look at every situation with honesty and common sense. "Those two things, right there, will help make decisions and will help make the city move forward in a positive direction." Lawler said the number one concern on the minds of the people in Memphis are crime and education.
More action from last year's Delta Fair with Derrick King & Johnny Dotson with Rashard Devon defeated Los Locos (Ramon and Raul) when Derrick rolled up Ramon in the corner with a little extra added assistance from the ropes.
Jerry Lawler addressed the major issues with the Memphis school system.

Delta Fair footage with "Grandmasta Sexay" Brian Christopher taking on "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters. Finish came when Masters gave Christopher a low blow, while Christopher was punching him in the corner. Christopher later retaliated, but picked up the win by disqualification. Before they went to the video, Corey said we're gonna take a look at somebody who's on their way to the Delta Fair & Music Festival. I assume he was talking about Brian Christopher since Masters is back in the WWE.
Opening the Vaults with an historic match between Jerry "The King" Lawler and Hulk Hogan, who was managed by "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart. Lawler came to the ring in the Mid-South Coliseum riding a big white horse. Jimmy Hart ran in attacking Lawler with some sort of foreign object. Hulk and Jimmy doubled teamed Lawler, but Lawler fought back, clearing the ring. Here's a video of this classic match:
Lawler asked Corey if they could dig up some footage of one of his favorites, "Dirty" Dutch Mantel, who is coming to the Delta Fair & Music Festival on Saturday, September 5th. Next week, they will give us the entire card for the Delta Fair show. There will be a return grudge match with Derrick King and Johnny Dotson. Corey added that he heard that local radio personality, Thaddeus Matthews, is not done with Koko B. Ware. Lawler said he would like to show Thaddeus a move or two. Lawler said he and Koko were at odds after their recent match in Union City, Tennessee. They showed a clip of Lawler eliminating Koko in the battle royal in Union City.
Opening the Vaults of Memphis Classic Wrestling with "Dirty" Dutch Mantel taking on "Ravishing" Rick Rude, who had "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart and Angel at ringside with him. Here's a video of this one:
Corey said, next week, they'll tell us all the names that are going to be at the Delta Fair on Saturday, September 5th, with a 7:30 bell time. Wrestling is absolutely free with admission to the fair. They said it's just five or six bucks. Corey asked everyone to bring their signs and make a lot of noise. The television cameras will also be out there. Lawler said while you're at it, go ahead and make a Lawler for Mayor sign to put out in your yard. Lawler said that if someone would take the time to make a homemade Lawler for Mayor sign, that would be a great show of support. Corey suggested that maybe they should take the camera crew out and try to find some of the yard signas to show on tv. Corey said, next week, they'll be telling us more about the Delta Fair. Lawler added that if you create a homemade Lawler for Mayor sign, then go online to JerryLawler2009.com or LawlerforMayor.com and send us an e-mail that you have that sign up and we'll send the cameras out and show it on tv. Corey Maclin ended the show, by saying, we'll be looking for you, next week.
