Also tune in Tuesday morning at 10am for an interview with Full Throttle Wrestling Owner Chris Castle.

Aaron Polston Out of ASWF!!

----ASWF has been sold from Aaron Polston to David Walls as of 12.03.07. He sold everything with ASWF, sound & video equipment plus the logo name as well. ASWF will continue to run every week at Tuckerman, AR pretty much with the same cast and crew. Polston stated that “I will not go into the reasons why I am leaving Tuckerman, but I have the Fans at Heart and did not want to upset what I had already been building there.”

----Polston went on to inform RRO, “I will never own another wrestling company again. But I am going to help build another one in Jonesboro AR. We have already got thing rolling with a new 20 by 20 ring and new sound system and with a new TV system that we will be able to do the Internet PPV & Kait 8 [local ABC affiliate] like I have planned to do for sometime now.”

----Apparently ASWF had their electricity turned off this week. It has been settled and taken care of and there will be a show tonight. “I don’t want negative PR on this from anyone even though some think I am trying to get them shut down, which I am not. I have told them to get the utilities out of my name which they had not done, so I had them disconnected. But they have already got their utilities turn on.”

----RRO wishes Polston the best in his future endeavors and plan to continue are coverage of ASWF.

A Piece of my Mind-Dec 7th,2007 by "The Big Cheese" Sal Corrente

In America we all seem to root for the underdog and I am no different. It was recently announced that Tammy “Sunny” Sytch will be on Monday Night Raw. It is no secret that the last several years for Tammy have been very rough ones. She suffered a terrible tragedy with the loss of Chris Candido. She certainly made decisions not in her best interest that turned her into someone many people avoided. I was one of those people and what’s funny is that there was a time I couldn’t wait to meet her. It appears that those days are clearly behind Tammy. I have spoken to many people and have gotten the same response from everyone that Tammy has gotten it back together. If you ask anyone they will tell you that she looks fantastic. I would say that she deserves a chance to show the world that she still has what it takes to make it in the big time. I hope that she makes a great impression on everyone and who knows perhaps she can even earn a job back. Who is to say that you have to be twenty something to make men watch? I for one will be watching on Monday. Tammy if this article makes it your way it’s your chance to make an impression and show everyone what you’re made of. What ever it is that was your motivation to get things back together hold on to it for ever. You have a long life and perhaps a second chance at a career . Hmmm I wonder if London and Kendrick could use a manager like Sunny to help get them over?

I don’t think its any secret that I am very critical of RAW each and every week. I can’t remember the last time that I looked so forward to a RAW program. It should also be no secret that I am a huge fan of the seventies and eighties legends. I hope to see a lot of them on the program on Monday night. It should also be a chance to spotlight some younger talent. The WWE has a chance to step up to the plate with the bases loaded. We can only hope that they don’t blow this opportunity. This could be a huge momentum changing show going into the year of two thousand and eight.

It is now common knowledge that Dixie Carter held a meeting and offered everyone a chance to get out of their contract. I would have to agree that anyone who didn’t speak up during that meeting needs to keep quiet and put their careers in the hands of Dixie Carter and her booking committee. I have decided to keep using the term “creative” it is an oxymoron and I am not going to continue to do it. At some point you have to be an adult and take responsibility. Anyone who didn’t take their contract back has to live with the results and consequences of that decision. In the case of Sting if he is still deciding whether or not he wants to come back then he should stay home. In a young company like TNA you don’t need a guy well past his prime who can’t even decide if he wants to work for you. I have a lot of respect for Sting but other than a shot in MSG and autograph appearances his career is over, it’s a shame that his heart went before his body did.

On Smackdown tonight they had a VIP lounge segment to promote the World Class Wrestling DVD. It was interesting to see Michael P.S. Hayes back out on TV. The success that was World Class Wrestling should be celebrated and the tragedies that followed should be lessons to be learned from. I loved watching World Class Wrestling. I believe that Gino Hernandez and Gentleman Chris Adams should have been huge stars. I was as big a mark for the Fabulous Freebird’s as there was. I remember one day driving down the road with Kevin Von Erich and him telling me how they had to close the amusement park in Texas just show his brothers and he and their families could go. We can only hope that someone can create that type of success again. We can only pray that those types of tragedies are a thing of the past

Since we are coming to the end of the year I figure that I would run a picture from the Fed-Ex Forum show. How about Brutus Beefcake making an appearance on Raw Monday now wouldn’t that be something. He hasn’t been on TV in a real long time.

Maxx Corbin Update!!

----I received the following message offline today. I am glad everything is going good. Everyone here at RRO wishes you a quick recovery.

"Just thought i'd let everyone know that surgery went well yesterday. I'm a little sore, but far from feeling like a grenade was set off in my leg. I want to first off say thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. They really seemed to work. All that was done to the ankle was the steel plate. The screw that they were gonna put in ( that would have had to come out in 3 months) was not nessasary. That in itself is great news, especialy for my recovery time. Anyways, just thought i'd update everyone. Thanks again guys. Maxx"

1 MILLION HITS - RRO REACHES A MILESTONE!!!

----1 Million Hits!!! I would like to say thank you to all the regular visitors and contributors to this site. I never imagined this site to be as popular as it has become. I remember thinking 100 hits a day would make me happy, but now I am disappointed when there are less than 2,000 a day viewing it. Let’s go for two million now!! Tell your friends!!! Thanks again to everyone!!

Cheap Heat- 12/6/07 by Gene Jackson

Cheap Heat- 12/6/07 by Gene Jackson

Sorry for not writing anything in so long but I've been busy with the radio show, but more on that later. Let's talk about some other stuff first.

PROPHECY FULLFILLED

A while back I wrote an article about the Nashville Wrestling show that had debuted on CSS hosted by Scott Barry. The shows were 30 minutes long and consisted of old St Louis footage from the EARLY 80's, shilling of their website and phone number (nothing wrong with that), LONG promos from Christopher Love (Bert Prentice) and "Malibu" Matt Boyce, and cheesy ass promos from "Sweet" Teddy Tender (Bully Douglas doing a horrible lounge singer gimmick). All this was done with promises of the show going to 1 hour in December with matches from their current roster of wrestlers. Meanwhile, last weekend before I left out on my trip to Mississippi to the TFW show, I downloaded a number of podcasts and such to listen to on the way down there. One of the ones I downloaded was TN. Wrestletalk w/Scott Barry as the guest. After about an hour of Barry getting interviewed, Trent Van Drisse called in (from the Mid-Southern Message Board) They proceded to argue for over an hour with the basic argument being, Trent saying that Scott is hyping Nashville Wrestling on CSS as the greatest thing ever and that in reality it was gonna crash and burn like EVERY other Prentice project. But it went on and on and on and on. Jason James and Scott Barry both write him off as a mark that doesn't know anything because he doesn't go to the shows he criticizes, BUT the fact of the matter is this. IF he's nothing but a MARK whose opinion doesn't matter WHY IN THE FUCK WOULD YOU ARGUE WITH HIM ON THE AIR FOR AN HOUR?!?!? Secondly, he may not have gone to the live shows but what he said would happen, happened. So how do you argue with that. How bad does it have to suck for Barry to have to eat your words and look like a tool? I'm sure I'll get an email from him cause he apparently can't take criticism and likes to confront everyone who disagrees with him. I couldn't believe what I was listening to on that show, Barry talking about how "Sweet" Teddy Tender was gonna draw money and how Trent couldn't give an opinion on that character because he hadn't seen it live. I'm sorry but you don't have to buy a ticket and go to a show to have enough sense to know that in 2007, a cheap knockoff of Tony Clifton is not gonna sell tickets. So anyway, that's that. We'll be waiting for the next round of promises from good ol' Bert and whoever is shilling it next time around.

TWO THUMBS UP FOR THE NEW HBK DVD

So I got the new Shawn Michaels dvd the WWE just put out and it's very good. The documentary was well done although nothing groundbreaking if you've read his book of the same name. Still interesting to hear everyone's comments on Shawn and some of his matches. Ted Dibease eludes to the fact of how ludicrous it was for Hogan to go over on Shawn at Summerslam 05. It was also mentioned by Shawn himself how he wanted the match to be a babyface match and that Hogan was the one who insisted that Shawn be heel for it, "I want the Shawn Michaels from '97, brother." Shawn said he tried to talk him out of it cause he knew he would shred him on the mic, and make a fool out of him, but Hulk perisisted. "Terry's business, it will be fine." is what Vince told him. So Shawn proceded to go full blown heel on him and Hogan was quite upset in the end. Still, I think it was for the best, I don't think a babyface match would have gotten over as much or did as good of pay per view numbers as it did. Anyway, everything was discussed in depth including his drug use and finding Jesus. A good dvd with some good matches as well. Jim Ross says at the end that Shawn Michaels may be the greatest wrestler of all time, I tend to agree. Also don't forget this is available to order in the RRO SuperShop.

CHEAP HEAT RADIO

This is something I've been trying to work on for a year and never could find the right software to do it correctly, but now that I found a way to do it I thought I'd give it a try and the response has been tremendous. The number of downloads have been great. The feedback for the Derrick King shoot interview has been great and a whole lot of people are wanting to be interviewed now. Some will, some won't. Here's my plans for the show (feedback welcome) I'm only gonna do full blown extended shoot interviews once in a while. I'm not gonna spend an hour and a half asking everyone that comes on the show about everything they've done. I want each show to have a theme or topic, and I'll have guests call in to discuss and give their opinions and expertise on that given subject. Plus like I've done so far, I'll have people call in to promote upcoming shows around the area. Then when the opportunity arises I'll have special editions where the entire show is dedicated to a full shoot interview with one wrestler. My reason being is #1: I don't think people want to hear every detail of every wrestler's career that comes on the show and #2: I don't always know enough about the background of some of the guys to do a good interview with them. As of right now I've got shows booked through December. I do have another shoot interview coming up with Neil Taylor which I think will be interesting cause Neil has worked all over the area that R.R.O. covers and he doesn't care to tell the honest truth about things. Now all interviews whether full length shoots or just calling in on a subject will be a shoot, no more kayfabed stuff (unless the worker just insists, and that will depend on who they are and the context of the conversation) So with all the time I'm putting into these shows I don't know how often I'll be WRITING, but I'm sure everyone will get enough of my views on the show.

As always if you'd like to comment, ask a question, or try to get booked for Cheap Heat Radio email me at genejackson@charter.net

RRO AWARDS RACE 2007

----Well, it is that time of year again. Welcome to the 2cnd Annual RRO Awards Race. Awards are based on workers and performers in this area.

----Here is how this is going to work. I will be sending out e-mails to a committee of workers/promoters/writers from this area each week. They will be asked to nominate 3 candidates in each category. They can not nominate themselves. I will narrow it down to 3 candidates per category. You as the readers of RRO are able to go to the official RRO Awards Race 2007 blog and post your own nomination. Each category will have a post and you can post your candidates in the comments section. You can either put your real name or you may stay anonymous. I will total those nominations with the committee nominations and will release the top three candidates.

----Starting on January 1st to midnight on January 10th will be “10 TO VOTE” where all 17 categories – each with 3 candidates - will be presented on one page where everyone will be able to vote. January 13, 2008 will be considered the site’s SUPER SUNDAY as I will release all the winners. I have other things planned that I will announce as the weeks go by that I think many of you will find interesting.

RassleResults: TLCW Ripley, TN 12.01.07

Dustin Starr/Dell Tucker came out to celebrate Jon Michael leaving town with balloons and streamers. Tucker was dressed like Starr. Tim Grind came out and broke it up setting up a match later in the night.

Cody Melton/Seth Knight/Tim Alfonzo/Shannon Lee beat Chris Lexx/Crime/Tommy Redneck/Albino Rhino. Alfonzo took most of the heat and then ended up pinning Redneck. Albino gave Alfonzo a big splash after the match.

“Playboy’s Playhouse” segment with Matt Foley and Rockin Randy. Randy got color.

Tatt2 beat Baron Malenvain by COR. Baron just left the ring to be counted out.

Winner To Become TLCW Tag Team Champions – “Naughty by Nature” [Rude/Pokerface] vs “Black Label Society” [AJ Bradley/Void] ended in no contest. Rude and AJ are still the tag team champions.

Hardcore Title Match: Rockin Randy beat Matt Foley – double juice.

Dell Tucker beat Tim Grind.

Dustin Starr vs Flash Flanagan – No contest. “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony came down jumping in along with Tim Grind trying to make the save. TGB hit Flash from behind with the belt, but Flash thought it was Grind. They started pushing each other at the end.

Derrick King vs Alan Steele – No contest. As DK was getting ready to beat Steele with the superkick a bunch of guys from IWA jumped DK including Charlie Parks, Mallik and Blaylock The Blazer. Steele looked as if he was going to help, but just dropped out of the ring.

----About 130 in the building with a gate of $668, which was a big drop from last week’s big show, but they expected that…This group has Nick Ninsmore this coming Saturday night….Next Saturday night [15th] as a special Christmas gimmick – anyone that pays to get in the building holding a ticket will have a chance of winning a brand new computer donated by WalMart. Great gift for someone that pays $6 and wins the computer. Also Flash is scheduled to defend the Unified Title vs Danny B Goode…This group has some interesting stuff going on finishing up the year. Tag straps undecided. Starr/Tucker tandem is fun. Flash as Unified Champion will be good for storylines as he will probably have to be a tweener. And, then you got the IWA invasion.

RassleResults: NBW Dyersburg, TN 12.01.07

J. Weezy vs. The Sicilian Kid vs. Sgt. Savage was threw out from interference by the Riot Squad. The Squad threw Kid & Savage from the ring and began to beat down Weezy when Jeremy Moore & Phoenix X made the save. Jimmy Tidwell reminded Moore that he had a tag match later in the evening and from the looks of things, he has ran out of partners. Tidwell stated that Jason Reed was still out with cracked ribs, Big Red took care of Crazy Train last week and now Weezy is out of commission for a while. Allen Walker then told Moore to hang tight and he would make a few phone calls and find him a partner.

Phoenix X defeated "Hot Boy" John Roberts after some miscommunication from the Sicillian Kid cost him the match.

"Real Deal" Tim Edwards defeated J.R. Manson in a "Tennessee Street Fight". This match went all over the building and Manson got some serious color.

"Southern Oultaw" Kilo defeated "High RIsk Champion" Motley Cruz after Gaylon Ray ran in and delivered a low blow to Motley

The Riot Squad (Mark & Robert Justice) defeated "Upset Kid" Jeremy Moore & “Too Kool 2” Flex by DQ when Rob went for a chain shot on Flex, Flex took the chain away from Rob and the referee turned around and found Flex holding the chain and Rob down on the mat.

----Around 80 paying this week with a gate close to $500 with over 100 in the building...Gaylon Ray was the most over babyface [that's sad..LOL]the entire night with the whole crowd chanting his name after he cost Motley his match…Flex got the best babyface entrance reaction…Most heel heat was on the Riot Squad for the Weezy beatdown and then the screwjob finish in the main event…This group will be holding New Blood Eve '07 on Saturday December 29th…Also, workers for the memorial show for Barry Harber has been announced on NBW's website. Check it out!!

Flashback - September 25, 2004

---- In the dressing rooms during “Thanksgiving Throwdown” series, some of us were talking about match ratings and if I had ever given a [*****] to a match. When starting this site, I adopted the Dave Meltzer star system and stated that that this bout was one of the few [*****] matches that I have seen in this area. This match is actually featured on the RRO DVD release “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony “As Good As Gold” along with a few of the angles leading up to it. [shameless plug] I will spend another FLASHBACK sometime in the future and a give a full background on the star system.

----This match was the finish of a feud between TGB and Christian Jacobs, which involved twists and turns that were very creative and fun to do. It was a storyline based on real life as CJ was getting married and I was getting divorced. TGB pitched the idea to me and at the time [no one knew this] I was weighing the possibility of doing this angle or doing the site. I should have started the site then!! LOL Not because of anything those two guys did, but as I have stated before, I was a bit “off my game” during that feud. I think I have only managed 5 more times since this bout, so this was leading up to the end of Coach BT. Notice also that the ref for the night is RRO Manager of the Year 2006 Rashard Devon. I am not going to spoil it for you guys, but when they go up “high”, Rashard and I were not aware they were going to do that and were scared shitless.

The Ratings: Memphis Wrestling TV 12.01.07

----Not really good news as the show scored an overall 2.9 [47,849 viewers], which is the lowest rating in the last 8 weeks. The show is down 25% from the record month of November. The show last year also did about 18% better with over 57,000 viewers. The highest rated quarter was the second and each quarter after that lost a few viewers. They lost 3,861 viewers from start to finish, which is not a large number, but is LOSING. The Brian C vs Ali angle is their hottest angle and sometime in that 3rd Quarter people started turning the show off. If you look at the next quarter numbers [and I can only guess on this], but it does look like might contributed to the Clowns tag match. The 4th quarter, which had the best match on the show, had the lowest rating of the night.

-“Opening The Vault”

1st Quarter 2.9 [48,520 viewers]

A Piece of my Mind-Dec 5th,2007 by "The Big Cheese" Sal Corrente

I have never been a fan of The Undertaker gimmick to any real extent. If you talk to the fan in me, I couldn’t stand it when he beat Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka at Wrestlemania. It stands to reason that I would not be a big fan of the Kane character either. I know this may be strange but I always enjoyed Paul Bearer. I guess it’s the facial expressions many times that are the final decider for me. I am resigned to the fact that Kane and The Undertaker will be in WWE as long as they want to be not withstanding some incident that right now I can’t imagine. I would do one thing different though. I would put the mask back on Kane. I can remember years ago everyone knew what Tim “Mr. Wrestling” Woods looked like but he still wore the mask from time to time. It wasn’t about hiding identity but for what it symbolized. I always thought that the Kane character was weakened when that mask came off. I believe putting it back on could breath life back into a floundering character. You might even sell a mask or two or a hundred thousand of them.

How about Awesome Kong? Is she something else or what? I would have to say that WWE missed the boat on this one. This lady is impressive ... really impressive. I just hope that she gets booked right and is given every chance to continue to make an “IMPACT”.
It looks like Talia Madison is going to do very well in TNA. I used her on a WrestleReunion event to manage Rhino and Matt Hardy against Team-3D. I could see right then and there that what I had heard was probably true. I couldn’t understand why she hadn’t been picked up. It appears that TNA has made some good decisions regarding the talent for the women’s division. I am sure merchandising should do ok, but historically women just don’t draw you any money. Although I will say there is nothing historic about Awesome Kong I just wonder "could she make a difference at all"? I won’t hold my breath but I wouldn’t be surprised if she helped the cause. The girls had a great night on the PPV. It might come to pass in TNA just like it did when the Jumping Bomb Angels were working The Glamour Girls that none of the boys wanted to follow them. Well if Dixie Carter can’t make it with TNA maybe she can find David McLane and bring back GLOW.

The segment with Mr. Kennedy is one of these stupid time wasting segments we have to put up with to satisfy someone’s sense of humor. So what if Shawn super kicks a bunch of guys no one knows anything about and were poor excuses for the real guys that were mocking? If the Mr. Kennedy segment was a necessary segment how about trying this approach. You can take a guy like Derrick King and have him turn the tables on Shawn and let him super kick Shawn. There isn’t anyone in the building that didn’t already know Derrick King was that would see that coming and then Mr. Kennedy could really go to town. How about something fresh? Try it you might actually find people not dozing off during Raw.

So next week is the fifteenth anniversary of Monday Night Raw. Does that mean we are going to be treated to some real spectacular show? I think that the WWE really needs to deliver on this one. This is one of those times when we are normally let down. I hope that is not the case. I have three hours allotted for next Monday night and I don’t want to waste them. You only have a few days left do something to entertain people.

The picture this week was taken at a PrePaid Legal Services conference. It is of Vladimir Koloff on the left. He worked a lot of indies with Ivan managing him and “The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff. I will talk more about Vladimir in later articles. This could have been a pretty impactful team that never actually got a chance to happen.

This has been a piece of my mind

Maxx Corbin Update!!!

----Corbin posted this to his myspace.com page. Corbin suffered an injury on the MAW "Thanksgiving Throwdown" show.

For those of you that didn't know I had a doctor appointment yesterday. It was supposed to be a follow up to see how th ankle was healing under the cast. They took some X-Rays of it and come back with the news. Apparently, there is a gap between the bones in my legs and the ones in my foot that could be a tendon / ligament problem. On top of that, the broken bone in my leg is not healing right. They then preceded to tell me the best way to fix this problem would be through surgery. The broken bone will have a steel plate put in it and depending on how the tendon/ ligament looks they may have to put in a screw between the tibia and fibula. The screw situation is tricky. If they put in a screw I'll have to go back in 3 months to get it taken out. The steel plate will stay in forever. The recovery time is a little depressing too. Instead of six weeks, now I'm looking at six months, minimum, without getting the screw. If I do get the screw in, it may be 8 months.
So, since I have no choice, I'm scheduled to have surgery Thursday at one. The kicker is that I have to be there at 6 am in case they can get me in earlier. The doc gave me little to look forward to afterwards as well when he said it was gonna feel like they set off a grenade in my ankle after the surgery. (Gee thanks doc...lol well at least he was honest) I do want everyone to know that this injury WILL NOT MAKE ME QUIT WRESTLING!!! I plan to train as much as i can for those 6 months so i can come back stronger and better than ever. Even though this news sucks, I guess I need to remember that everything happens for a reason. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers guys.

Memphis Wrestling TV Report 12.01.07

----Corey Maclin opens the show announcing the Southern Tag Team Titles have been held up due to Ali Stevens/Brian Christopher split. Reggie B Fine comes out to join Corey to announce.

----“Opening the Vault” with “Frazier’s Hair vs Lee’s Mask” Giant Frazier/Bobby Eaton vs Stagger Lee [Koko Ware]/Terry Taylor. Frazier gets his hair shaved after losing the bout. Eaton/Frazier jump Lee/Taylor after the bout and remove Lee’s mask, but Lee covers his face.

----Jerry Lawler interview. Maclin says something about Lawler having a birthday this past week. Fine says that he was going to bring a cake, but it would have had so many candles on it, it would have burn down the studio. LOL That was funny. Lawler puts over Santino Marrella and then talks about his upcoming match vs Kevin White.

----White with Garry White interview. White with Mr. White beat Lawler with Grady Watson. Not much of a match. Pretty much a squash. Lawler pulled down his strap and went for the fist drop, when some music started to play. Sue Young come out and did a strip tease. Lawler had his head turn watching her. White hit him with the “super secret phantom foreign object” for the pin and win.

----Replay of the Ali/Brian C angle from last week. After they air the clip, the crowd was chanting “Ali, Ali.” Brian C interview – “You are out here with a big star now.” Tatt2 vs Brian C – No Contest. Ali jumped in and Brian C took off running. Tatt2 got more than I expected. Everyone always talks about how small Tatt2 is, but he didn’t look much smaller than Brian C.

----They return from commercial break and Ali is chasing Brian C out of the ring with a trash can lid. I think Ali had hit him, but they did not show it. Ali demands a match today. He gets the crowd to chanting “Grand Master Punk.” Brian C comes back out and agrees to a tag team match next week. Ali then goes after Brian C knocking down a skinny security guard with the trash can lid. Well done.

----Chris Lexx/Dustin Starr beat “Insane Clowns” [Bobo/Giggles] with Rashard Devon. Very rushed bout. Lexx took 2 seconds of heat and DDT double down. Hot tag to Starr. Bobo hit Giggles on mistake with a guitar and Starr pinned him.

----“Too Kool 2” [Tim Grind/Flex] interview. They had a kid’s three piece suit that they said they brought out for Dotson. Funny. Derrick King/Johnny Dotson with Rashard come out. Both teams put over the fact that Bill Rush is not refereeing this week, because of a quick count from last week’s second fall. Not sure where that is going.

----Winner To Become New Southern Tag Team Champions – Grind/Flex vs Dotson/DK went to the expiration of time. Match only lasted 5 minutes, but was real good. Heat was on Flex with hot tag to Grind. TK2 was about to win, when the bell rang.

NOTES

----Lawler interview with Fine talking about the cake with real funny…After Young did the strip tease, Maclin said something about her being Japanese – why was she stripping?? Do Japanese women not strip??...White put over Marrella also…Ali/Brian C angle has lots of heat. Biggest reaction of the show. Crowd loves Ali…Main for tag straps entered the ring for 5 minutes of TV time for the bout?? If they must show an “Opening the Vault” segment, then they really need to cut the TV show down to 3 matches…Solid show continuing with storylines, even though a lot of it came off rushed. Fine was really good this week and took nothing away from the show.

Southern All Star Wrestling Millersville, Tn 11.30.07

Arrick Andrews became the new Southern All Star Wrestling Television Champion at their bimonthly television taping in Millersville, Tennessee Friday night.

If you’re a fan of Memphis style TV studio wrestling, SAW is right up your alley. I haven’t seen the Memphis show in forever, but I have this sneaking suspicion that SAW has better talent.

SAW runs every week in Millersville and tape two hours of TV every other week. It’s a three camera shoot. Good lighting. They had a 115 in a building that holds maybe 150. It’s a fun throwback to the way things used to be, and great place for young talent to learn about doing TV.

This show was all about setting up the top matches for SAW’s debut in Columbia on Christmas night.

SAW owner Reno Riggins ensured an endless supply of random screaming throughout the show by offering up four free free tickets (not nosebleeds!) to Sunday’s Tennessee Titans game to the loudest screamers.

The first hour opened with the announce team of Jack Johnson and Hot Rod Biggs seated at the desk. They call the matches from the desk ala Memphis. Johnson was wearing a Santa hat. Biggs also had a hat that made him look like a hardcore court jester. He’s got the best forehead scar tissue of any color man in the biz, hands down.

(1) Mason Raige beat Kliff Hanger via submission in 6:55. Raige has a decent look and plenty of size, but he’s gangly looking, like his legs are too long for his body. Hanger reminded me a bit of Derrick King. This was a showcase for Raige’s power game. Hanger went for a high crossbody that Raige converted into a gorilla press slam. He rushed it and didn’t Hanger up all the way. Raige used an impressive Torture Rack for the finish. One of the real positives on this show was that across the board, the finishes were well executed.

Raige cut a promo. He has issues with Nore Havoc, who beat him in the semis of the TV Title tournament.

The SAW Tag Team Champions, Homicidal Tendencies did a promo segment with Johnson. This was Memphis at it best. Surreal comedy. Tendencies made Johnson look like Dopey by playing with the fuzzy ball on his Santa hat. Williams said they were the last men standing after ridding SAW of Maddox Brothers and the Naturals.

(2) Lennox Lightfoot beat Kory Williams (with Vic the Bruiser) in 6:18. Lightfoot is one darked skinned Indian. Williams made him look like a million bucks. Williams ate a dropkick and bailed, so Bruiser got in there and ate one as well. Lightfoot lit Williams up with chops. Williams took a gingerly walk around the ring, and did a couple of Hindu squats to prepare himself for battle. Referee Kurt Herron got distracted forever by Bruiser. No matter. Lightfoot pinned Williams with a flying crucifix.

Postmatch, Tendencies double teamed Lightfoot. Bruiser chopped the Indian down. Then they painted his face ripped the feathers out of his head dress. Outlaw made the save. He’s got potential with that physique. Williams and Bruiser did a disgustingly obnoxious victory celebration.

Outlaw did a promo. Blah, blah, blah. Way too long. Outlaw said he and Lennox were from different tribes. I’ll say. He’s the most Jewish looking Indian I’ve ever seen.

(3) AM Vision beat T. J. Harley in 5:45. Much faster paced than the first two matches. Vision carried the action. Harley isn’t in the best of shape for a babyface. Harley took it to Vision early. Harley ate a wicked double stomp on an inside outside slingshot move by Vision. Vision hit a top rope elbow and a frogsplash. Harley kicked out of both of them. Crowd got behind Harley. Backbreaker by Harley and both men down. Harley with a powerbomb. They started trading pin attempts and Vision got the three count. Nicely done. It was nice to a see a finish in that spot instead of clichéd back and forth stuff.

Hammerjack and Charming Charles cut a promo for Christmas Night in Columbia against “Boogie Woogie Boy” Gary Valiant. Great work by Charles. That old dude made me believe. Charles referenced Charles Dickens, as he brandished the chain that symbolized Jacob Marley’s torture, and presumably the Boogie Woogie Boy’s fate.

“Jingle, Boogie, Jingle.”

(4) Arrick Andrews beat Nore Havoc (with Paul Adams) to win the SAW Television Title Tournament in 10:55. They did the tournament after then champion Sean Schultz left to work for Bert Prentice. Andrews is right for the role of the top young babyface. This was sweet revenge for him. Havoc and Adams shaved his head bald four months ago. Andrews was subsequently suspended for striking Commissioner Freddie Morton with a stick. Andrews flustrated Havoc something fierce. Adams pulled the ropes down to dump Andrews and referee Kurt Herron for a ridiculous amount of time, while Havoc was beating up Andrews at ringside. Back inside the ring, Andrews kicked out and Adams blamed Herron for being out of position. Havoc opened up on offense. Andrews looked too much like he was protecting himself here. Andrews hit his around-the-world bulldog. Havoc kicked out of a reverse roll and Andrews used the momentum to blast Adams, who was up on the apron. Havoc rolled Andrews up from behind for a good false finish. Finish saw Andrews grab Adams. Havoc inadvertently clobbered Adams, and Andrews connected with a tornado kick for the pin.

Hour number two opened with the announce team at ringside flanked by the new TV Champion, Andrews and the suits, Commissioner Morton and BOD member Mike Sircy. Morton said James Storm was booked for the Christmas show in Columbia. Adams and Havoc came out. Adams claimed the first title shot for Havoc. Sircy said that wasn’t happening because he was drawing it out of a hat. Adams was feeling lucky, Sircy drew AM Vision. Adams said it was rigged.

(5) Arrick Andrews beat AM Vision to retain the SAW TV Title in a 4:40. Just a tease for what promises to be a great match at the Christmas show. Andrews opened with a flurry of offense for which Vision had no answers. At the 3 minute mark, Vision rolled out from under Andrews’ top rope leg drop. Vision tied Andrews up in the ropes and abused him. Out of nowhere, Andrews pinned Vision with a backslide.

Promo at the desk with Andrews. He was going to be a fighting champion.

AM Vision promo followed. Vision said that was twice Andrews had beaten him by the skin of his teeth. Vision challenged Andrews to a two out of three falls match on Christmas night in Columbia.

(6) Damien Adams beat Kliff Hanger in 4:08. Damien is a solid babyface. Strong cardio and work rate. Adams smashed Hanger’s head into the turnbuckle 10 times and Hanger added two more on his own. Hanger dropped an elbow to the base of neck and said his strut was better than Jackie Fargo’s. Hanger went for his big Lightning Kick. Damien ducked. Backslide for two. Rolling reverse cradle for two. Enzuigiri for the pin. Nice finish.

(7) Homicidal Tendencies (Kory Williams & Vic the Bruiser) vs. Tribal Nation (Outlaw & Lennox Lightfoot) ended in a double pin (10:40). Tendencies retained the SAW Tag Team Titles. Tendencies have their work cut out for them getting good matches out of Nation. They have promising futures but Outlaw in particular is still very green. Tendencies had souvenir feathers from Lightfoot’s head dress tucked into their dorags. The Indians cleared the ring. Tendencies wanted out but they were confronted by Morton. It got physical. Morton picked up a chair to chase Tendencies back to the ring. Tendencies begged off. Tribal Nation did a number on their arms. The wily veterans used chicanery and tomfoolery to get heat on Lightfoot. Williams jabbed the quill of his feather into Lightfoot’s eye and used the Indian deathlock on him. The hot tag broke down to four way action. Bell got bumped out of the ring. Herron ran down to ringside. Outlaw laid Bruiser out with a chokeslam, while Williams nailed Lightfoot with a neckbreaker. Bell and Herron made simultaneous three counts. Both teams had their hands raised. Morton came out. Tendencies left with the belts.

Morton said it would be Homicidal Tendencies vs. Tribal Nations at the Christmas show. Winner takes all.

(8) Shane Eden pinned “The Graduate” Jason James in 5 even. James was in the cap and gown. It’s reassuring to know he made it through high school. I hadn’t seen James since Bert Prentice ran Chattanooga a few years back. I wouldn’t exactly call him a star of the future, but he’s way better than he was. Eden was over. He’s added some muscle since his early days in Music City Wrestling. Eden pulled James’ tie to maintain the side headlock. James raked the eyes and worked over Eden’s back. James pointed at his brain. Finish saw Eden taking a flying face bump into the turnbuckle. James rolled him up and thought he got the three count. Herron didn’t see it that way. Eden surprised James with a roll up for the three count.

(9) Ric Santel beat Hammerjack (with Charming Charles) via DQ in 7:04. Santel was handing Hammerjack his ass in the early going. Hammerjack took over, Hammerjack snuffed out one comeback with a driving side slam. He also got a near fall with a sitout slam. The crowd wasn’t all that into Santel, who comes across as a rather bland babyface. Santel was mounting the big comeback when Charles hooked his leg with the cane to distract. Hammerjack gave Santel a piledriver and Ricky Bell DQed him like this was Mexico City.

Charles and Hammerjack did a promo challenging Valiant to a chain match at the Christmas show. Biggs took exception to Hammerjack’s use of the piledriver. Hammerjack slapped him across the face and slammed his head into the desk. Biggs was busted wide open. Hammerjack dragged Biggs bloody carcass into the ring for the dreaded piledriver, but Valiant made the save. Andrews came out as well.

Valiant said the crap stops now and signed the contract for the chain match on Christmas. He didn’t care what the stinking rules were, he wanted Hammerjack. Krull came out and made a non-sanctioned match for next Friday night. Morton told Valiant he owed SAW his pay if the match rendered him unable to perform on Christmas.

Biggs looked like he was ready to die has he was being helped to the back. SAW is pulling out all the stops in this heavy violence feud. They brought Jimmy Valiant in four weeks ago to give Boogie Woogie Boy the rub. The evilness of Hammerjack and Charles work for me, but I’ve never been moved by Valiant’s act, and this segment didn’t do anything to change that.

Riggins finally parted with those Titans tickets.

NOTES: Mike Porter’s NWA Main Event pulled out of Columbia after SAW announced plans to run there on Christmas…SAW airs on two Nashville area cable systems, Saturdays at 10am on Comcast 74 and Charter at 9:45 Saturdays and 10pm Tuesdays…Some notes on Havoc. He started out in Memphis in 1992 and came back to wrestling about 5 years ago. Havoc said he was the only wrestler that the Jarrett’s trained for free. Havoc said he gained valuable experience working with people like Buddy Wayne and Danny Davis. Havoc sees himself in a teacher role with SAW.

Site News!!!!

----I would like to apologize to the readers of RRO. I entered the hospital on Friday around 2:00 PM and just walked out about 30 minutes ago. I am being told I had severe case of Pancreatitis. I was almost at the point of not being able to walk. Along with being a diabetic and my sugar high and the Pancreatitis they kept me two days shooting me full of antibiotics. I am tired and very weak as of today. I hope to have everything running again with full results and such in the next few days. If anyone out there wants to pitch in and help, LMK. Thanks to all that worried about me!!
