Chris Rocker over Tony Brock with a Frog Splash
Hot & Heavy over “Full Throttle” (Aaron Scott & Brandon Marino) to retain LAW Tag Titles
Rockin' Randy over Tommy Redneck
Brandon Espinosa over Idol Bane
"The Golden Boy" Greg Anthony over Dell Tucker to retain LAW Heavyweight Championship
Jeff O'Dell came out and apologized for TGB's actions last week. He said that he doesn't like Chris O'Neal but no one deserves to be burned like that. TGB's music hits. Greg asks Jeff O'Dell who does he think he is questioning anything he does in this ring? Jeff says that he's the President of LAW and he signs TGB's paychecks - that’s who he is! TGB explains that he is Jeff's "Handpicked" LAW Champion and Jeff knew that TGB would do anything and everything to keep this title. TGB says he didn't do it for himself, he did it for Jeff O'Dell, he did it for the betterment of LAW! Dell Tucker's music hits.Tucker says that TGB didn't do it for the betterment of LAW he did it because he is scared! Scared of anyone who challenges for the title and tries to destroy anyone in his path. Tucker started naming all the guys that have challenged for the title and said that TGB's greatest threat is Flash Flanagan and you fired him so it didn't even have a real opportunity at the title. All because TGB is nothing but a Scared Little Boy!!! Jeff O'Dell cut Tucker off and said that no one insults my LAW Champion and you say TGB is scared of anyone who challenges him for the LAW Title, Well I know for a fact he isn't scared of you... so tonight "The Golden Boy" Greg Anthony will defend the LAW Championship against Dell Tucker!!!
At the 1st intermission it was announced we had an "intermission surprise"... Tommy Redneck!!! Nearing the end of intermission Jeff O'Dell's music hit and he told Redneck he was surprised to see him but he was glad he was here because Rockin' Randy(who was also out there for intermission) was scheduled to wrestle Johnny Vinyl. But I gave Vinyl the night off for his own protection. So tonight it will be Redneck vs Randy and that match starts right now!
Solid Match from Bane and Espy. Finish came when Idol went for The Ghost of Andy Kauffman and Espy sweeped his legs and rolled forward for the 1...2...3.
At the 2nd intermission we had another "intermission surprise".... Slim "The Bulldog" Pickens!!! Slim signed autographs and talked with the fans then he got in the ring and was going to give away his singlet but Idol Bane came and gave him the GOAK!!!
In the Main Event, while Jeff O'Dell distracted the ref TGB hit Tucker with the LAW Championship to pick up the victory. After the match he was going to hit Tucker again but Tucker ducked and fired up on TGB clotheslining him over the top rope. TGB said that his biggest mistake because next week Tucker will have another title shot but the catch is that if he dares to show his face I'm going to "SET HIM ON FIRE!" TGB said he wasn't going to throw the fireball but that he was going to "BURN DELL TUCKER ALIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF RING NEXT WEEK!"
----80-100 in the crowd, which is up from previous weeks.

A Piece of my Mind May 2nd,2008 by "The Big Cheese" Sal Corrente
If you read my articles on a regular basis you have seen me mention Charley Fulton. He was a great worker in the days when being able to work actually mattered. I can’t deny that what went on behind the curtain still wasn’t political but being able to work played a much larger part. The only comments you ever heard personally or professionally about Charley were positive ones. I never had the pleasure of wrestling Charley but I made sure some of my friends did when I was booking shows. I did travel with Charley a good bit I considered him a friend and still do. When he walked away from the business he had health issues. I heard John Studd say “what a shame about Charley and the office liked him”. I can remember being in a meeting with legendary booker George Scott when I asked him about Charley. He said people would ask me all the time why I kept Charley around. He said I told them no way I am letting that guy go.
I mention Charley today because when I heard that Dave Taylor had been released I thought to myself, WHAT????? Who in the world makes a decision like this? How do you let a guy like this go? A wrestler like Dave Taylor is capable of mentoring younger kids and helping them to learn how to work. In the days of pushing William Regal and Fit Finlay how does a guy like Dave Taylor get his walking papers? In days when MMA and Ultimate Fighting are getting a lot of attention why let go a guy who is a legitimate shooter? If the truth was told I believe that you could put Regal, Finlay and Taylor in the ring against any three other guys and the other guys would be fighting for their lives. It is just another in a long line of questionable decisions made by a company that isn’t sure what the public really wants.
I simply can not understand the constant misconduct and embarrassing behavior that WWE stars subject the company to. The latest incident involves someone that I find to be entertaining Santino Marella. In so conceding that Santino is “funny” I have to say that he should be ashamed of his behavior. If we are realistic here is a guy who was given a job even after that incident with Jim Cornette where Cornette slapped him. I am an old school guy Santino did something wrong. I don’t believe that Cornette should have slapped him but I can also see where poor judgment made by Santino pushed Cornette over the edge. If Santino was around years ago the same reason that Cornette slapped him for would have probably gotten him blackballed for years ago.
If we are honest about it Santino Marella is a talented guy who if his nose was kept clean could maintain a job if he was just the lucky guy that someone liked. In light of the current situations he should be released immediately. Why continue to employ people like this when you can find anyone to do the same job. The role Santino holds is never going to drive company revenue so why condone it by keeping him on your books? When you allow this type of behavior to take place with no repercussions the message you send is clear. The wrestling business has always been very political and for that reason Santino Marella can stay employed. You can hear all the stories you want about Board of Directors and how the WWE is run. If you have any common sense at all and understand Vince McMahon you would realize it is a military dictatorship.
The picture for this article is of Joe and Don Muraco from WrestleReunion 2. It wasn’t to hard to convince Don to take the long trip from Hawaii being given the chance to team with his son. The other motivation was being given a chance to work with Bob and Brad Armstrong.

AWA Hands Zbyszko the AWA World title.....again.
As a follow up to Brian Logan announcing that a number of AWA promotions were breaking away from Dale Gagne (real name:Dale Gagner) and making their own claim to the AWA "World" Title that he won from Larry Zbyszko in West Virginia after Larry Z was awarded the title after being stripped of it in 1990. According to Gagner's AWA website they have now ONCE AGAIN given the title back to Larry Zbyszko and have removed all references on their their site to Brian Logan ever winning the title even deleting it from the title history as if it never happened.
I suppose this is news, it's certainly amusing if nothing else. The fact of the matter is neither belt mean much anymore. I could just as easily order an AWA title belt from highspots and declare myself AWA World Champion and it would mean about as much as either of these. I suppose this will probably lead to even more drama over the AWA name and more lawsuits from Dale "Gagne". This isn't a knock on Logan, he's a good worker and a nice guy but it would probably be less trouble to pick out another three letters and call it something else. Well we'll see what happens.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated 500 issue
Each year, the magazine Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) produces a top 500 ranking of professional wrestlers from throughout the country and the world. While the top 150 or so spots are usually taken up by WWE, TNA, ROH, Japan and top level international performers, the remaining spots typically feature indy talents.
In the past, I have sent stats to PWI for various indy wrestlers for potential inclusion. Well, this year I would like to do the same for any worker in the www.rronews.com coverage area. If you are interested in inclusion in the magazine's ratings, please let me know. Deadline to send in application materials is June 1.
This is a good tool for exposure for any of our local stars.
E-mail me at bptbookings@yahoo.com for more details.

Coach's Corner - "120 Days of 2008"
----It is hard to believe that one third of the year is already over. I am going to do something here that I have not done in years past, but it will give everyone a point of reference to go to later in the year. Below is my analysis for the five main categories and below that are my quick picks all for 1/3 of 2008 for the RRO Awards.
----Wrestler – It is hard to pick anyone so far this year as there as not been a lot of major storylines. There is also not one promotion that is entirely built around one guy and that one guy is the one that draws the crowds. My three picks for this category are Derrick King, Stan Lee and Austin Lane. It would be hard not putting DK in this slot due to the fact that he has won two years in a row and is also still very influential in this area. Lee gets the nod for his stellar performance at the UWL PPV and just being one of the best overall performers. I may get a little “heat” for the last pick, but I think ASWF is one of the few promotions that use a guy to promote him as the top guy, although they do showcase the other talent, Austin Lane is the man there. Not only is he the top guy – but that promotion draws crowds.
----Performer – As many of you know this category really has nothing to do with drawing power – it matters how the worker performs night after night. The good thing about this award so far this year is there are many candidates. 2007 winner Stan Lee leads the pack again along with Reno Diamond [smooth & works hard every time], “TGB” Greg Anthony [one of the better workers in the area – works hard to have a good match], Austin Lane [also works hard] and I would be ridiculous not to mention Derrick King here also.
----Tag Team – “The Asylum” [Pappy/Psycho] lead this category this year due to the fact that much like “The Posse” of last year, they are the most well traveled and booked team in this area. “Black Label Society” [AJ Bradley/Robbie Douglas] are just slightly behind them. AJ is the better worker of both teams. I would have to put the “Missouri Bad Boys” [Mark Southern/Missouri Renegade] third here in a major surprise. I mean who would have thought I would be saying the MBB are one of the top teams of 2008?? Other teams considered would have to be “Hot Topic” [Derrick King/Stan Lee], Brandon Barbwire/Anton LeVeigh [they have been on top of high attended shows], “Sons of the South” [Chris Styles/Josh Matthews], “Southern Saints” [Reno Diamond/Marcus O’Neil/ Shawn Reed] [only tagged at Chikara though] and “Parental Advisory” [Tony Dabbs/Scott Porteau]. The ironic thing is that “The Posse”, RRO 2008 winner, does not team enough or has not worked any major shows to be considered this year yet.
----Best Damn Tag Team – RRO 2008 winner “Naughty by Nature” [Rude/Pokerface] have to still be considered one of the top three in the area. They have not teamed as much as year, but when they are in the ring then they are “the” team. “Hot Topic” [Derrick King/Stan Lee] are easily in here along with “Black Label Society” [AJ Bradley/Robbie Douglas], who had the best tag match so far this year I have seen. Lots of other good working teams including the “Asylum” [who know psychology with the best of them] and Eric Wayne/Kid Nikels [if they get a run as a team].
----Best Promotion – This is an award that I like to see given to a promotion that not only draws crowds, but also puts on top matches. Two time winner TLCW might still have some of the best matches in the area, but have fallen behind in the drawing power. My nod this year would have to go to either TIWF [for pure drawing power] or ASWF [for drawing power and not afraid to try new things]. Since moving to Trenton , TN TIWF has drew an average of 180+ at all the shows with all “homegrown” talent. I never thought I would be writing that this group would be considered for this award, but they are doing just as good or better than anyone this year. All Pro Productions is my third pick because of their drawing power and owner Kenny Valiant always trying to bring in new people and new towns. I have to mention NBW here just because they have consistently drawn this year and their storylines have been interesting. Championship Wrestling is a little far from us, but has also drawn some good crowds and good matches. TLCW is still a place with a lot of good workers, but they have lost some of their luster.
----Other awards…
*Most Improved – Idol Bane [may be in the Top 10 by the end of the year]
*Most Underrated – AJ Bradley [one of the smoothest]
*Rookie – Mike Anthony [ASWF rookie sensation]
*Best Booker – TIWF Committee [the police angle sold me]
*Match of the Year – Eric Wayne vs Kid Nikels [****1/4 – nuff said]
*Best Announcer – Michael Ward [for having to calling PK vs Overkill LOL]
*Best Manager – “ Hollywood ” Jimmy Blaylock [angle with Ken Wayne was priceless]
*Best Damn Radio Show – “Cheap Heat Radio” with Randy Hales Part III [my favorite part because of his Brandon Baxter rant]
*Best Wrestling Web Site – Wrestling News Center [it has evolved into a cut and paste site, but you can go and catch up on everything]
*Columnist of the Year – “Axeman” Randall Lewis [not always my favorite, but is the hardest working man on WNC]
*Best Ref – Bill Rush [William Gibson not far behind]
* Best Gimmick – “Asylum” [Pappy/Psycho]

* Best Gimmick – “Asylum” [Pappy/Psycho]

Flashback November 1976 by Mark James
This week’s flashback takes us back to November 1976.
The magazine’s title, “City of Memphis” is somewhat self-explanatory. It was a local, monthly magazine about the city of Memphis. The November 1976 issue features an in depth article on Memphis Wrestling as well as a full page story on Jerry Lawler. To top it off, they put “The King” on the cover. This cover makes mention of Csonka (Larry), Kiick (Jim) & Warfield (Paul). At the time these 3 guys were hugely famous NFL professional football players that had gone to the Memphis Grizzlies of the WFL. The WFL was a new football league that was trying to compete with the NFL. It failed after less than 2 seasons.
Despite the huge reputation of these 3 football players, the Grizzlies couldn’t get the Memphis fans to attend the games at Liberty Bowl Stadium. If you were to walk across the Stadium parking lot, only a few hundred yards away, you find the Mid-South Coliseum. This is where every Monday night, Lawler and the boys were packing them in. Looking at it in a head to head comparison, the weekly matches in an 11,500 seat arena averaged more attendance than the professional football team did at a 50,000 seat stadium. It’s been joked about before, but this is one of the reasons why Memphis was always called the nation’s capital for professional wrestling.
The magazine's main article was pretty standard for 1970’s main stream wrestling articles, “Is it real? Is it fake?”. What I liked about it was they actually talked to Lance Russell, Jerry Lawler, etc and didn’t make fun of it, or rip it apart. They asked serious questions, got serious answers and then printed it. There was the obvious doubts given, trying to figure out how they bleed, etc. Overall it was a positive article.
The spotlight piece they did on Lawler gives us his basic history. It’s pretty good stuff, for being back in the day. To that point, it may have been the first article done that told how Jerry got into the business, (art, deejay, West Memphis matches, etc). One thing that did jump out in the spotlight was that “The King”, was only 26 years old. It’s amazing to me that he was such a huge star in Memphis and wrestling at such a young age.
Overall I’d give the complete article a grade of A-. The only thing I would have liked better would have been some more pictures of the boys (other than Lawler.) The photos included in the article are great and a lot of fun to look back on, as is the article itself.
----The thing that I found most interesting about these photos was that Jerry Lawler was wearing the NWA Title?? Here is what Scott Bowden wrote on the www.wrestlingclassics.com board.
The cover shows Lawler wearing the NWA World title following a bout with Terry Funk. In the weeks after this bout, Lawler was billed as "World title claimant," so I'm assuming it was some of reverse decision. Ever the self-promoter, Lawler managed to get a few shots of himself wearing the strap before returning it to Funk. Given the fact that Terry liked Lawler, I'm assuming he gave the OK. (Hmmmm...wonder if Harley Race would have been so cooperative?)
----Mark James is the author of “Memphis Wrestling History – Cards, Matches, Results, Newspaper Clippings” Vol 1. He is currently finishing up Vol 2 and we will have full details on it here when it becomes available. James also is the webmaster to the BEST Memphis Wrestling site in the area – www.memphiswrestlinghistory.com Take a look at the site!!!
RassleResults: RWA Jonesboro, AR 4.26.08 - Ali Returns!!
----The beginning of the show started with Frank Martin coming out and recapping last week’s action. He then called out the San Francisco Treat to inform him that if he laid his hands on Frank again that he would be fired. Treat then grabbed Martin and said that he might as well fire him. At that point Ali Stevens came out of no where and made the save. Martin then informed Treat that the restraining order had been lifted and as of midnight that night Ali Stevens would be allowed to get involved and wrestle again. SFT told Martin that before the night was done he would put the make up on him. Ali Stevens told SFT that he had gone through the anger management course and he apologized to the fans for acting a fool.
----Zane Richards beat Chris Steel…Gary Diamond beat Silas…Deadly Dale beat Sergeant Shakedown…”Leprechauns”[Lucky/Lethal] beat Loose Cannon/Rottn Randy…The Official beat Chazz Wesson…Big Al beat San Francisco Treat
----100+ in the building with a Sugarland concert in town with that drawing 15,000…I love the “anger management” statement about Ali’s return…Silas threw Gary Diamond over the top rope all the way to the concessions stand on to three of the students from he RWA School…Rottn Randy and Cannon got into an argument before the match started. They have been playing the blame game for each other losing. Martin had heard enough and got into the ring and told them,"this is not divorce court". He was tired of hearing them fight like Jr. High kids. He put them together for the match against the Leprechauns. Randy cost them the match according to Cannon. A fight between them followed after the match and Martin broke it up. A match has been signed for this week - Cannon VS Rottn Randy. [could be worse match of the year..LOL]…The Official came out and asked Martin for a match against anyone but Silas. Out came Chazz and Chazz put him in the Texas Clover leaf submission. Chazz would not break the hold so the decision was reversed. Martin then informed Chazz his match against Rodney Mack next week would be an Adult only [does that mean they are getting stuff from the sex shop next door to whip them..LOL..I could not resist]Fan lumber Jack Strap Match. Chazz took the belt off of the Official and used it on him sending a message to Rodney Mack…Treat and Big Al was a good match until Al got the upper hand and then Treat got a chair and hit Al. Martin jumped into the ring and took the chair from Treat before he could use it a second time. Treat shoved Martin into the corner and went for the chair again. Martin tackled Treat and started choking him when Cannon hit the ring and hit Martin from behind. They then picked Martin up and started to put make up on him. Ali Stevens hit the ring and gave Treat a Hugh spine buster. Ali then went outside the ring and got a can of dog food he had put under the ring before anyone had come in. Ali shoved Treats face into the dog food much to the delight of the fans. Treat then posted himself trying to back away. Ali hit him some more and sent him out of the ring. Treat got the mic and told Ali he was tired of him and wanted a Loser Leaves the RWA match next week. Martin made the match and made it a title match for Ali's Central Pro belt. Ali said if he was putting the belt up he wanted a NO DQ NO Time limit falls count anywhere match…Too much Frank Martin – it almost like he is the top babyface – involved in way too much. The crowd should be up next week though with Chazz vs Rodney and Ali vs SFT.

Memphis Wrestling at AutoZone Park
Memphis Wrestling at AutoZone Park was mentioned this week by Corey Maclin on the TV Show. The promotion will apparently run the venue on Saturday, July 26th.
That night is one of the featured promotion nights of the Memphis Redbirds where fans can buy a 4-hot dog, 4-Coke & 4 Ticket package for $199. Saturday, July 26th is listed on the promotion as "Memphis Wrestling Night."
This is actually a good deal as, if I'm not mistaken, the package includes the 4 hot dogs, 4 Cokes and 4 tickets to 5 games. So doing the math, that's 20 hotdogs, 20 Cokes & 20 tickets for just $199. Can't beat that!
You can visit www.memphisredbirds.com for more details on Redbirds promotions.

The Thompson Perspective 4.27.08 By Brian Thompson
Welcome to another edition of The Thompson Perspective here at www.rronews.com. Usually I have one or two subjects that I "hammer" during a column, but this time around I'm just going to hit and miss a few things from the last week or two.
I want to apologize to anyone who probably heard most of this during last Monday's edition of "Shootin' the Shiznit" with Brian Tramel, Gene Jackson, Brian Logan & yours truly. I'm pretty much going to talk about some of the things we discussed there, maybe just a little more in-depth.
First of all, Bobby Eaton did ask me to pass along a big "thank you" to everyone who has shown concern for him in the last two weeks. I visited with him last weekend in Charlotte, NC and I can report that he is doing well and actually competed last night in the North Carolina area. Bobby and I are also looking to seal up some dates here in the Mid-South for later this year. I will be contacting local promoters within the next month concerning this. However, if you are interested and I don't contact you within the next month or if you want to go ahead and make sure that you are contacted, drop me an e-mail at bptbookings@yahoo.com and we'll discuss details.
For those of you who didn't listen to the radio show last week, man did you miss some fun conversation. I was impressed with Brian Logan. Again congrats to him on winning the current version of the AWA World Heavyweight Title. Is the AWA the same as it was in the old days? Of course not. Do I feel that the title is as valuable as it was at one time? Not quite. However, if Brian Logan will put pride and determination behind making the belt mean something, that is all that the AWA promoters can ask for.
I'll be honest. At first, I had mistaken Brian with another local worker with the name Brian. No not Brian Tramel, but another guy who'll remain nameless. This confused me and I was thinking, when did this guy start working for the AWA group in West Virginia? Then when Logan started talking about his Smokey Mountain days it dawned on me just who he was.
Finally, I will clarify some statements. I mentioned Scotty McKeever and his time in Smokey. However, I was informed this week that he actually only worked there maybe once. I think I confused his brief appearance with some time he spent in Ozark Mountain Wrestling for Bert Prenctice circa 1995. There was a fun promotion that, while it didn't have the world's best roster, made what talent it did have seem so important. I think someone locally could use the way Bert promoted in a presentation sense and incorporate that into shows successfully.
That's all for this edition.
I'll be back down the road with more thoughts on this crazy wrestling business.
Take care all.

They announced that they finally got what they want, a match for the company, at spring breakout. it would be a 6 man tag match consisting of 3 of the best XOW has to offer, NBW CHAMPION Motley Cruz, XOW CHAMPION Max Steele, and Mark Justice. Chris Styles was upset because he didn't get a spot in the match, saying Motley and Mark weren't really XOW. Motley said if Styles would learn some loyalty then maybe he would have a spot, at which point Styles said Motley doesn't know the first thing about loyalty. Billy Russ said tonight we would have a match for the spot in the 6 man between Motley and Styles. Allen Walker then announced Big Red, and Jeremy Moore as part of the 6 man. Moore came out and said that since he wasn't going to be able to fight Sarge at the big show he wanted him tonight in a no holds barred match.
Biscuit held the 1st ever Biscuitlock Challenge stating he is the real Masterpiece in NBW. Biscuit's first opponent was none other than Buckwheat, whom he made short work of. Biscuit def. D.J. Stunner with the “rude awakening”.
Synn/Suicide def. Kid/Tim Edwards after Tim got DQ'd for using a chair.
Josh Matthews def. Jarvis White and Phoenix X in a 3-way dance
Mark Justice called out Rob Justice and offered him a spot in XOW, after thinking about it, Rob declined and decided to stay NBW w/ his tag team partner Jason Matthews. Mark was furious and jumped Matthews from behind. Mark and Jason went back and forth w/ Rob trying to get in between his partner and his mentor until Kilo made the save and challenged Mark. Kilo def. Mark Justice by DQ when Tommy Redneck got involved. After the match Redneck and Mark layed a heavy beating on Kilo, Redneck used a rope w/ a cowbell to help make him bleed until Jeremy Moore ( w/ Gimmick ) made the save.
Motley Cruz def. Chris Styles after using Tony Watts briefcase on him.
Jeremy Moore def. Sarge O'Riley w/ an AceCrusher. During the course of this match Addison Walker ( who was already trying to get a hold of Sarge at the first of the show, w/ the crowd chanting "let him go" , got busted open by Sarge after he tried to fight him.
After the Match XOW jumped Moore w/ Bigg Money Gripp and Kilo/ Riot Squad made the save. During the course of that Chris Styles also came out to help saying he was now NBW and would never put on another XOW shirt.
-----120 + in the crowd...Pop of the night was for the final segment w/ the place being deafening…Wrestler pop of the night went to Moore…Overall awesome show and everyone worked hard…Next Week: Styles/Kilo vs. Redneck/Motley and Moore vs. Mark Justice!!!

Correction!!
I got the following from Beau James about the show from last night. I have corrected it in my report.
"The house last night was not as big as the Feb War Games. We had 417 paid for it and 391 last night. The match with AJ and Thorn was great. This was 3rd time AJ has worked with us and by far the best match he has had here. Thorn was blown up but he stayed with him. AJ is just that well conditioned. You really can't compare the weeknight SSW shows with our CW shows. The weeknight SSW shows are run to give younger guys like Cody Ices, Matt Stevens, few others to get more ring time. They are run to give an extra night of income to the workers. This week’s SSW event is ran on Friday and is ran with a much bigger budget than the weeknight shows have been."

RassleResults: TLCW Ripley, TN 4.26.08 - Tatt2 Turns!!
Ike Tucker/Shannon Lee beat “The Asylum” [Psycho/Pappy] by DQ
Greg King Jr beat Albino Rhino by Reverse Decision after Rhino continued to attack King after the bell rang.
Reggie B. Fine beat Bishop
“Naughty By Nature” [Rude/Pokerface] beat Eric Wayne/Kid Nikels

3 on 2 Handicap Match

Baron Malkavain beat Erik Hayes/Gaylon Ray
Chris Rocker beat Flex
“Black Label Society” [A.J. Bradley/Robbie Douglas] w/ Jimmy Tidwell beat Derrick King/Tatt2
In the main event, Derrick King came to the ring alone. Jimmy Tidwell said that the match would go on whether Derrick had a tag team partner or not. Derrick said Stan Lee was not able to make it, but he did have a replacement. In a big surprise angle, his choice would haunt him in the end. After several minutes, the match broke down with all four men fighting at the same time. Derrick was blindsided by a devastating superkick from his partner Tatt2. After the BLS made the pin, Tatt2 stood over Derrick's unconscious body. Then, Jimmy Tidwell walked up to Tatt2 and handed him a wad of cash.
----115 in the crowd…That angle with Tatt2 turning came out of nowhere. Good idea. It might bring some people back to the show if they find out Tatt2 is feuding with DK. Even when these two guys wrestled against each other, they always made it a point that Tatt2 was like a brother to DK like they do with Stan Lee…Wayne/Nikels are in for a program with NBN. It should be good…Flex/Rocker are doing a program also…Gaylon Ray flipped flopped AGAIN and is back working here from NBW…”Asylum” still do not have a win in TLCW.

Another local TNA show scheduled
In addition to the June 8th Slammiversary pay-per-view in Southaven, MS, Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling will also hold a house show on Friday, June 6th at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Tickets for the show, which start as low as $20, go on sale this Friday, May 2nd. Tickets may be purchased at the Coliseum box office, by calling 866-646-8849 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
The card is scheduled to include: Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, A. J. Styles, the Motor City Machine Guns, Awesome Kong, Jay Lethal, Tomko, James Storm & more.
The Black River Coliseum opened in 1999 and has since featured several wrestling shows. The first scheduled show, set for late 2000, was supposed to be a Dale Gagne AWA Superstars show featuring an autograph session with Bill Goldberg and a mix of WWF, WCW, ECW and independent talents on the card. However, that show was cancelled when building director Calvin Rutledge received word from all three major organizations (WWF, WCW & ECW) that their talents would not be allowed to work the card.
The original Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW)held its next-to-last show ever at the building. That night is special to RRONews.com owner Brian Tramel as several of the talents he worked with received a tryout following the show. The match was performed in front of ECW talent.
Later that summer, I was involved with the next show at the arena, presented by Memphis Championship Wrestling (MCW). The card featured several WWF talents including Bradshaw, Faarooq, Spike Dudley, Ivory, Raven, Rikishi and others.
The next event is even more special to me as it was Lethal Attitude Wrestling's Black River Brawl, held Jan. 11, 2003. Yours truly was still a partner in the organization at the time. Ironically, TNA Management's Jeff Jarrett, Jeremy Borash and Don West, were all impressed with the turnout and the venue. I'm not surprised they booked the building, just surprised its taken almost 5 1/2 years to do so.
Harley Race ran the building once, I believe in 2005, with his World League Wrestling (WLW) promotion. Dusty Rhodes was the featured guest.
The last, most recent event there was a WWE owned ECW house show in June 2006. The event drew approximately 2,600 fans. It was the biggest ECW-only house show that WWE ran during a brief tour.
