10 Years Ago In Memphis Wrestling

USWA: The promotion was dropping their Louisville tv affiliate as it was costing them too much money. …. Bloody Ox Brody had left the territory. Replacing him were newcomers Mike Diamond and Steve Rizzono, Mike Modest (called Michael Honest) and Frank Murdoch (called Frank Parker)…… The biggest angle on the weekend tv was the break up of the Fake Razor Ramon and Fake Diesel. Fake Razor had turned face the previous week and renounced his gimmick. This week he claimed Vince McMahon was mad at him for doing so, and would be sending wrestlers after him for revenge. Lo and behold, Fake Diesel showed up and jumped him. This weeks tv main event was Jerry Lawler vs Billy Travis. The build up was unique in that they aired promos from Shawn Michaels and Mankind running down Travis. Mankind said that when he hears Travis sing, he wishes he had lost both ears. Michaels also derided how bad Travis’ singing was. Lawler defeated Travis via D.Q. when Brian Christopher interfered and Travis clocked referee Downtown Bruno (Harvey Whippleman) with a guitar. Other matches on the show saw Christopher defeat Mike Honest via D.Q., and the Truth Commission defeated Frank Parker & Carl ‘Mr Wrestling’ Fergie.
