----RCW TV is no longer airing on KAIT-TV due mainly to sponsorships pulling out. The show did not prove to be a good selling point for either the promotion or the sponsor. The late night spot only had about 800 viewers.
----RCW debuted in March with some of the best local talent in the area. Their original card, which was canceled because of snow, featured a "Who's Who" of RRO winners - Wrestler, Tag Team/MVP Team, MVP Performer, Most Improved, Match of the Year contestants and the #1 Wrestler in the area for the last two years. The philosophy around the promotion was to use the BEST talent and have good payoffs for the talent. They promoted in the local area with the old school feel but with talent that looked like they could jump right out of the WWE Universe.
----RCW started to see a strain of sorts in June. Money man Steve Cherry was seeing no financial return and everyone was questioning everyone on if they were doing things right. There was a blow up of sorts within the company, which has since been smoothed over. The last I have been told was that some of the assets of the company such as ring and sound system are being sold. Also they may still do work with various promotions with the name. Their last live show was "4th in the Forest" and they do not have any more shows planned at this point.
----I hate to see a promotion like this not being give the significant time to flourish, but in the current economy, cheap entertainment may actually sell better than quality entertainment. Everyone watching this group this year was able to see some of the guys really shine though. Bobby Eaton in a perfect role as a tag team guy. Greg Anthony with his mic skills. Christian Jacobs getting a major push as top babyface. Seth Knight being able to show his skills and become an asset as a TV wrestler. Justin Smart also had some good matches for TV. Matt Riviera's heel character was just so over the top. Ron Rage was being pushed in a perfect role at this stage of his career. Jon Michael as champion. Derrick King/Alan Steele being set up that could have turned out to be the angle of the year.
----Brian Thompson sent the following comments...
The Aug. 14, 2010 edition of RCW Late Nite Wrestling on KAIT TV-8 Jonesboro was the final edition of our TV show. We featured a sort of "Best of RCW" show that showcased the much talked about match from June 19 between Alan Steele and Seth Knight. We also showed the final moments of Jon Michael Worthington vs. Justin Smart from Augusta, AR in April.
I want to thank all of the crew that helped make RCW Late Nite Wrestling a fun weekly TV show for the better part of the last six months. Most of all, I want to thank Steve Cherry for his friendship, support and for giving me the opportunity to produce my style of wrestling for the fans in Northeast Arkansas this year.
While the TV product will no longer be on the air, there is discussion about involving RCW talents and even the name in other avenues. While I don't want to mention any particulars since nothing is "official" until it happens, I guess the best thing to say is "Stay Tuned!"
