Arena Report: ASWF Walnut Ridge, AR 1.27.07

----Anton Leveigh beat Phoenix X [pictured]. Both of these kids can do moves and have the potential to be good. Leveigh is over. But, there is no psychology – no reasoning for doing any of the moves they do. [*]

----Brandon Barbwire beat Justin “the Juice” Smart by DQ when Phoenix X/Excalibur interfered. Smart has a good look. Barbwire has a different look, but seems to be over with the younger crowd. No psychology. [*]

----Trent Shultz beat Excalibur by DQ when Phoenix X/Smart interfered. Ditto above. [*] They set up a 6-man tag for later in the show.

----Giant Hillbilly and Hollywood Jimmy did an angle where Jimmy had to wrestle Hillbilly. The heat was good for this. The ref had his back turned and Jimmy threw a huge fire ball and pinned him in a quick match. Kenny Valiant ran to ringside with medics to make sure the Hillbilly was ok. Jimmy was real good in this.

----“Luscious” Leonard beat Bad Dog and Sexy Rex. I am going to be as nice as possible here. One of the worst matches I have seen in my life. [-*]

----“The Posse” [Lil Chris/Simon] beat “Family of Pain” [Sarge O’Riley/Mickey Ray] to win the ASWF Tag Team Titles. Good match with both teams working hard. Double heat with heat on Simon first, and then Chris. Hot tag to Simon. Hollywood Jimmy handcuffed Chris to the ropes and Sarge/Micky went to finish off Simon. They laid Simon’s head on a chair and Sarge jumped from the second rope with a diving headbutt. He missed hitting the chair and come up with juice. Ray then held Simon as Sarge went to hit Simon with a chair, but Simon ducked and Sarge hit Ray. Simon pinned Ray for the win. Crowd popped huge for the title change. [***]

----Smart/Phoenix X/Excalibur beat Leveigh/Barbwire/Shultz when Smart pinned Shultz in a spot feast hardcore abortion. Leveigh bled. They all did these crazy moves killing each other. The moves looked good – don’t get me wrong, but there are no reasoning for most of it. Smart/Leveigh/Barbwire all have potential – they need to be taught what to do and when to do it. The crowd sit on there hands during their single matches. They were more into this bout and as I said, Leveigh is over.

----Chris Rocker beat Austin Lane by DQ. I actually went to this show just to see this match. You got two of the top 5 guys in this area in a match. They did not disappoint. A very good match with every move looking fluent and the psychology was right on the mark. Lane started the heat on Rocker when Rocker hit a dive outside the ring and Lane caught him with a kick. The major difference in these guys and the spot monkeys in the first match is they put the big moves in the right place and build for the finish. Rocker came out of heat with a big pop and dove ¾ the way across the ring with a frogsplash. Hollywood then jump in hitting Rocker with the cane for the DQ. Lane/Hollywood/Nikki beat up Rocker until Brandon Baxter ran out for the save. [***1/2]

RassleNotes: The crowd was 200+ with a gate/concession of $1275 given to the benefit family…The Hillbilly walked around backstage rest of the night with the bandages from the burn on his face. LOL…I totally marked out listening to Rocker, Lane, Hollywood Jimmy, Baxter and William Gibson all going over the finish of the main event. Great wrestling minds all in one corner…Dirty Little Dave did an interview saying he would wrestle anybody and Aaron Polston booked him to work Jerry Lawler a the next show. That should be fun. DLD is one of the best bumpers you will ever see…Leveigh sells these teddy bears that are just so not right for a guy to sell. LOL I seen tons of kids with them though...Rocker had a big whelp on his back from the cane – Hollywood Jimmy was stiff. LOL…Signed for the next show: Another 6 man trash feast, Bill Dundee vs Chris Rocker, Brandon Baxter vs Austin Lane, FOP Retires vs Tag Titles: “Posse” vs FOP and Dirty Little Dave vs Jerry Lawler.
