Memphis Wrestling TV Report 2.03.07

----Derrick King comes out on crutches. King says he slipped on ice and hurt his knee. King said he can not wrestle Jerry Lawler today because of his knee. Then King says, “When my ankle gets better, I will be ready.” Get it??

----“Opening the Vault” with Lance Russell. The subject this week was the Moondogs. Lance only listed five Moondogs. Clip of Concession Stand brawl of Moondogs vs Jeff Jarrett/Jerry Lawler from Kennett, MO. They also aired Moondog Fifi beating up Kevin Lawler. After the clips, Corey Maclin announced that they will be bringing in Moondog Cujo next week.

----Jerry Lawler comes out to do an interview with Corey Maclin. Lawler talks about King getting scared about fighting him because of watching old DVDs of fireballs. Lawler talks about his opportunity to draw Superman. Lawler says he will be hosting a monster truck show tonight and he has a monster truck now.

----NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies mascot “The Grizz” came out. Koko Ware then comes out. He runs Grizz out of the ring. No contact.

----“Too Cool 2” [Flex/Tim Grind]/Flash Flanagan interview – they say that all three of them are the tag champions.

----Flex/Grind/Flash beat Tatt2/Dustin Starr/Johnny Dotson. Good match. Heat on Tatt2 with hot tag to Starr. Ref getting Grind out of the ring Flash hit Starr with one of the Southern Tag Team titles. Flex pinned Starr.

----“American Idol” contestant Travis McKinney from Memphis, TN is there live. He is just as bad here as he was on the show. Nate the Rat comes out. Nate says, “You suck!!” Nate challenges him to a singing contest. This was beyond horrible!!!

----Jethro beat Sam Shaw. Grady Watson comes out to talk to Maclin during the match. Jethro kept punching Shaw at the end until it looked like he knocked him out. Shaw did a good job.

----They air angle from last week of Kevin White turning on Bill Dundee. White interview. White comes out with a new robe on and says that Ric Flair gave it to him, because he had beat up Dundee. Brickhouse Brown comes out. Brown and White get in the ring, but then White gets out and says he does not want to wrestle Brown because “we don’t got heat”. From behind, Mr. Hughes jumps Brown and starts beating him up. Dundee tries to make the save, but White jumps him. White then gives Dundee a piledriver on the floor. White/Hughes leave Dundee/Brown laying in front of the announcer’s desk.

----White/Hughes come out for an interview. White says, “You can call me “Superstar” Kevin White now.” Hughes says that he has being looking for Brick because Brick stole his girlfriend and money. He also said that he did stuff to the Undertaker and plans to beat Brick up.

----King comes out at the very end. He is not hurt. He throws down the trophy that they had on the announcer’s desk all day for the winner of the King vs Lawler bout, which would be the Memphis TV Champion. King destroyed the trophy. Cory was pushing on him. This was good.

RassleNotes: They aired commercials for the Sam’s Town show on 3.02.07 – “Memphis Wrestling Goes Tunica”…I have covered it on my site many times, but I hate the idea of them bringing in Moondog Cujo. This promotion promised to let the name die with Moondog Spot, but it looks like they are lying now…Maclin/Lawler are scheduled for a “Meet and Greet” next Saturday at Sam’s Town…Ok, so the Lawler interview was filmed earlier this week and spliced into the show, but they filmed it at the studio to try to make people think it was tonight. The funny thing is that when they came back from the break Maclin was wearing a different shirt….The first match on TV did not start until 32 minutes into the show…I love the heel Kevin White!! He is so funny doing a gravel heel voice. Hughes and he look strange as a team. The piledriver he gave Dundee looked horrible though. You could see Dundee’s head not hitting the concrete. This all is confusing though [typical Memphis booking] with Brick coming out as a babyface, even though he turned heel on White last month. White is getting cheers from the heel fans. Dundee has also put himself in the mix, when in reality, White turned on Dustin Starr… Hughes looks real slim and everything in the ring looked solid.
