Bad News For IWA!!

----Does everyone remember what wrestling on TV was originally designed for?? It could be best described as a commercial for their weekly shows. Memphis Wrestling aired Saturday mornings at 11:00 AM for many years with high ratings to promote the Monday night show in Memphis, TN at the Mid-South Coliseum. In the RRO age of Memphis Wrestling we have been able to show that high ratings don't always equal good gates, but if you can get constant ratings, then you do have a commercial to put over your up coming arena shows.

----I have been told by a few sources that the "big shows" that the IWA promote - especially the last one - do pretty good paid numbers. As good as normal crowds of 100+ and all paid - that is good considering they let everyone in free for tapings.

----So, what is the bad news?? The IWA skipped a week and did not air anything on 10.31.09. The week before they had set their rating record of a .9 and with over 14,000 viewers in a 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM airing. Last Saturday, November 7, they aired two shows back to back starting at 10:00 AM and ending at 12:00 Noon. The second quarter of the first show drew a .3 [4859 viewers], but all other 7 Quarters that aired scored a whopping ZERO!! The first show scored an official .1 [1620 viewers] and the second hour scored ZERO!!

----Since this is a paid show by the promotion, then it will not be canceled, but the promotion really needs to decide whether it is worth their effort to put on TV. Is it worth their cost?? Is it too soon to decide, since their debut show was on 8.28.09?? A show that is watched by so few people [607 viewers per quarter average]like this past weekend is not good for the crew, the promotion or arena shows.

----I do know that a lot of guys I talk to have their heart into this promotion and want it to succeed. And, even though many feel I am a IWA hater, I would love to see them succeed. They will have to do simple things though like improving their production and settle in for to establish a time slot. This would have been a perfect time for them to "takeover" wrestling in Memphis, with Corey Maclin's version of Memphis Wrestling seems completely done and only rumors of a new Memphis Wrestling getting ready to emerge. If the new Memphis Wrestling debuts in a few weeks, then look for the ratings for IWA to be totally demolished.

----The TV reports of these shows will be posted sometime this weekend or early next week. IWA airs at 10:00 AM tomorrow morning...well I think it does??
