The big news coming out of the weekend is that WWE has made a substantial offer to Brock Lesnar to return for one night against The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 27. There was a stare down (Video: http://tinyurl.com/28ukbb7) between the two Saturday night following Lesnar's UFC title loss to Cain Velasquez in Anaheim. Taker, in a rare interview out of character, was talking to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani, who as Lesnar walked by him asked, "You want to do it?" Lesnar shot Taker back a glare and continued on his way. When asked by Helwani what just happened, Taker responded by saying, "It's personal." Almost nobody in the company saw this coming and you can count on one hand the people in the know. Story is developing.

Taker is expected to be sidelined for several week's now as the word going around is that he needs shoulder surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff.

Paul Heyman on Lesnar's title loss: "That's the "real sports" biz ... You win AND you lose. I want my kids to grow up respecting a performance like Cain's victory, not resenting it. My most sincere congratulations to a great champion in Cain Velasquez!" Heyman also has a new blog (written before the fight) on his relationship with Lesnar at http://tinyurl.com/36shbrt... Lesnar on defeat: "I expected nothing less from him, he’s a great fighter, congratulations Cain, I had a good training camp, what can I say, he was better than me tonight."

Perry Saturn, who turns 44 today, was backstage in Minneapolis which would be the first wrestling event Saturn has attended since leaving the business behind several years ago.

Bill Irwin, who wrestled here in 1995 as The Goon, was also visiting backstage last night.

Susan Bysiewicz, the Connecticut Secretary of State who announced polls may ban people from wearing WWE merchandise next month, worked with WWE last year on the Smackdown Your Vote campaign while she was running for governor.

Tribute to the Troops 2010 is scheduled at the Ford Hood military base in Killeen, TX on 12/15, the first time ever the show has been taped on domestic soil. An airdate is not yet confirmed but the early word is that the show would be a one-hour special on NBC. Interestingly, UFC is looking at doing a "Fight for the Troops" show on 1/22 also at Fort Hood, which would become an annual event.

Bill Apter interviewed Joey Styles at http://tinyurl.com/3acsm95 on why he quit announcing. When asked if he would ever consider a return to play-by-play, he said, "I don't ever want to call another wrestling match again." Looking back Styles said that he wished he retired in 2005 following the ECW One Night Stand PPV.

Knucklehead with Big Show debuted in six theaters this past weekend ahead of it's 11/9 DVD release. The film stars Show as a 450-pound church handyman who has spent his entire life in an orphanage and agrees to wrestle on behalf of his fellow orphans to raise enough money to stop the place closing down. Average to poor reviews. Kyle Smith of the New York Post was kind of complimentary concluding that Show was in the same class as Andre the Giant.

WWE's tentative PPV schedule for 2011 is as follows: Royal Rumble – January 30, 2011 – Boston (TD Garden); Elimination Chamber – February 27, 2011 – New York City (TBD); WrestleMania 27 – April 3, 2011 – Atlanta (Georgia Dome); Extreme Rules – May 1, 2011 – Tampa (St. Pete Times Forum); Over the Limit – May 22, 2011 – Seattle (Key Arena); Fatal 4 Way – June 19, 2011 – Washington, DC (Verizon Center); Money in the Bank – July 17, 2011 – Chicago (Allstate Arena); SummerSlam – August 14, 2011 – New York City (Madison Square Garden); Night of Champions – September 18, 2011 – TBD; Hell in a Cell – October 2, 2011 – TBD; Bragging Rights – October 23, 2011 – TBD; Survivor Series – November 20, 2011 – TBD; and TLC – December 18, 2011 – TBD.

Interesting that Summerslam is scheduled for Madison Square Garden as Staples Center in Los Angeles has been the venue of choice for that event in recent years.

Beth Phoenix is close to returning following ACL surgery in May.

A Bobby Heenan DVD is currently in post production and due for release on 12/28.

Former developmental wrestler Daniel Puder is pitching a new reality series via TMZ that would involve him traveling the country to take on bullies.

Chris Jericho has described Kevin Nash recently knocking WWE's youth movement as "short sighted" and part of "WCW mentality."

Andrew Whitaker, EVP of WWE International cashed out $31,000 in stock last week.

Mick Foley noted that his recent book plug on Raw was the result of the company contacting his publisher to ask for an advance copy. Apparently Vince was given positive feedback which led to the plug. Mick says that if the book ends up on any best sellers lists then the credit will belong to WWE.

Bragging Rights was the No. 7 most searched term yesterday on Google.

SvR 2011 goes on sale at Midnight. The company has talent making special appearances after Raw in Walmarts to promote the release.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary today.

Rosa Mendes celebrates her 31st birthday today.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING

A quiet weekend on the road. Jeff Jarrett was sporting a new shorter haircut. 10/23 in Cadillac, MI had RVD over Styles in the main event while match of the night was said to be Machine Guns over Generation Me. 10/24 in Port Huron included a Monsters Ball match between Abyss and Sabu that ended with Sabu busted open hard way from a garbage can shot to the back of the head, followed by a botched slingshot. People at the show said Sabu looked to be knocked silly. They went home early. The idea of risking injury in a hardcore match for a few hundred fans the day before a national TV taping is just mind boggling. And so is allowing unprotected head shots in 2010.

The TV tapings are today and tomorrow in Orlando. Some interesting angles in the works.
